16/1

2 obvious candidates in Porto and Barcelona and another at a better price for Real Madrid. The horse racing is interesting but Fairyhouse is heavy ground. And we may have got what we wanted from Powerful Presence last time.
I said it before that I think Real Madrid are becoming reliable betting mediums. Well I want to put that to the test this evening.
Must win for Real against bottom side, they should oblige. No Ronaldo = no bet so look at the Real Madrid website or Sky who will be showing this match.

*****ONE A DAY - 6pm - Almeria v Real Madrid -back Real Madrid at 1.26 away*****
I hope this comes in and is not a case of sods law that the one time I choose Real Madrid, they draw !!

Rennes won comfortably in the end but I had to cover the 0-0 incase they played as they had recently. Nice multiple landed as well.

130pm - Diagoras Rodou v Levadiakos - 1.28 away - I cannot see why Levadiakos are 1.28 away - the home side have only lost 1 in their last 12 matches!! Must be playing blindfolded this afternoon!
4pm -
Cadiz v CD Alcala - 1.3 home - Spanish 3rd division and that is stretching the realms of my interest. Lower leagues = trouble.
4pm -
Eibar v Leonesa - 1.34 home - See above.
4pm -
Valencia v Deportivo - 1.47 home - game in hand over 3rd place but a win will only take them 1 point behind. 5 wins, 3 draws and a loss at home not really good enough to mount a title challenge.
DWWDW at home last 5 scoring 1,2,2,3,2, for Valencia is consistent enough from a goalscoring perspective.
Valencia have won 3 on the trot now home and away and enter 2011 2/2
1-0 home win in 2010 , previous 2 head to heads in 2009 were loss and draw ( Cup)
Only 2 wins away from home for Deportivo .
DLLW away in last 4, more likely NOT to win away. A bit messy this match. No clear dominance by Valencia.

530pm -
Panathinaikos v Kavala - 1.4 home - DLD for Pana in head to heads - the proverbial bogey team it would seem!
Kavala are interestingly 5th so no mugs.
Against top 7, it has been tough at home for Pana, 2-1, 1-0, 1-1, 1-0 ( wins ) and I suspect against Kavala it might be a less than straightforward afternoon. 3 1-1's and 3 1-0's ( 2 losses) for Kavala in their last 6 shows they are a tough nut to crack and are typically Greek.
6pm -
Almeria v Real Madrid - 1.26 away - increasingly trustworthy betting propositions under the Special One. Lucky for us, all Madrid games are must wins as they are 2 points behind Barca.
Won 12 and lost only 1 in last 13 ( against Barca)
2 0-0 away draws came by 25th September and after that it's been win win win away (bar Barca). 4,3,1,0,3,3 ( 0 against Barca) the goals scored by Real away from home.
Almeria are bottom of the league and should not get anything out of today's match.
Almeria at home have only played Barca from the top 8 ( an 8-0 loss) and have lost 2 and drawn a whopping 5 at home ( all score draws) and all against teams 11th to 18th.
DDDLDL at home last 6 for Almeria. We can cover the draw with a neutral goals bet, but it is likely to be difficult to score against this new Real madrid.
Real have won 2009 and 2010 matches in head to heads, last away was 2-1. Ronaldo must play -he has scored 22 goals with next best , Higuan, an injured player. Ronaldo doesn't play = no bet.

6pm -
Porto v Naval - 1.13 home - won last time out in the Cup match but showed some disdain for it. Porto should revert to type this evening. Appalling attitude in the Cup mid week will hopefully be forgotten tonight and a more professional attitude engendered.
Have won all home matches, and only failed to score 2 or more in 1 match.Naval are bottom side. 2-0, 1-3 ( away Porto win), 3-0, 0-1 ( away win) for Porto should continue this evening. 1.13 hints at goals here ( for instance Rangers yesterday at 1.17 produced 3, and Olympiakos at 1.17 produced 4)
Only 2 wins all season for Naval, and last match was an away win against 4th in the league. 4,3,2,3 conceded away against top 8 ties in with the 1.13
6pm - Trabzonspor v Manisaspor - 1.34 home - Turkish Cup. How seriously do they take this? Fenerbahce out, Galatasary conceded first ( and did go on to win though)

8pm -
Barcelona v Malaga - 1.1 home - should equal goals as long as Messi plays!! 18 goals so far with Villa 2nd with 12. If we see these 2 and Pedro then it's happy days.
2,5,3,5,5,2 scored by Barca at home last 6 matches.
5,3,5,5,2,4 scored by barca last 6 matches.
Get the idea why they are 1.1 now?
Barca have won last 4 head to heads. Last match was 2-1, 84th minute Messi winner so may point at a defensive Malaga.
Malaga's points away have generally come against bottom 3 sides ( 2 wins and a draw) and against mid table ( 12th, 13th, 14th) lost 4-1, 3-0, 3-0. Surely Barca can replicate this this evening?
malaga have conceded 4,3,3 against 2nd, 3rd and 4th at home so they must be vulnerable away surely?

110 FAIRYHOUSE

BETTING FORECAST: 8/13 Our Girl Salley, 6/1 Lonesome Dove, 13/2 Araucaria, 8/1 Wood Lily, 12/1 Catcherinscratcher, 14/1 Stephanie Kate, 25/1 Belle Brook, 25/1 Midnight Socialite.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: It would be a hard race to call in the absence of OUR GIRL SALLEY, but she showed herself to be one of the best mares around with her convincing victory at Leopardstown. A reproduction here should prove too good. The main danger may well be the improving Wood Lily who won well over 2 miles here a couple of weeks ago. [Justin O'Hanlon]

Price gapper here extremely consistent and on heavy ground as well.

8 runners and 3 places and Geraghty takes the ride. Likely to be stingy place only price.

215 FAIRYHOUSE

BETTING FORECAST: 1/4 Golden Silver, 5/1 Let Yourself Go, 8/1 Rubi Light, 33/1 Tally Em Up.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: This looks a simple opportunity for GOLDEN SILVER with Let Yourself Go likely to last out for second place. [Justin O'Hanlon]

Value to be found in the 2nd place in what should be a 3 horse race for 2 places. Let yourself go is the market favourite for 2nd.

100 FFOS LAS

BETTING FORECAST: 10/11 Carlicue, 11/2 Duneen Point, 11/2 Tales To Tell, 13/2 Lexicon Lad, 13/2 Roalco De Farges, 8/1 Journeyman, 25/1 Letmespeak, 33/1 Railway Diva, 66/1 Ostaadi, 66/1 Saffron Lord, 100/1 John Sixteen.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: Point winner CARLICUE (nap) made a promising debut under rules when second to a progressive sort at Chepstow and that looks the best hurdles form on offer. He reportedly wasn't fully wound up so it's reasonable to expect even better with the outing under his belt.[Steven Boow]

Big move for the Journey man into 5/2 clear 2nd fav.

1250 SOUTHWELL

BETTING FORECAST: 11/8 Powerful Presence, 3/1 Zarius, 8/1 Penrod Ballantyne, 10/1 Bring Sweets, 10/1 Exopuntia, 10/1 Intyre Trail, 14/1 Bestowed, 16/1 Tomintoul Star, 33/1 Orpen Wide, 40/1 Braddock.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: An interesting contest in which Zarius is 9lb better off with POWERFUL PRESENCE (nap) than when defeating that rival 1l over C&D earlier in the month. However, the latter was returning from a break on his debut for current trainer and has since made good progress, so is taken to reverse the form.[Ron Wood]

His price crashed last time I got involved as the gamble was withdrawn. Can we trust Powerful to place again?

3 under 14/1

SHORTLIST

Lots of tough footy matches sprinkled with one or 2 obvious ones. Local derbies abound in the Permiership and I will leave these alone as they are simply a case of who plays best on the day. Will, ahem, King Kenny fall flat on his arse again today to continue the stirring Liverpool, erm, revival of , er, 2 losses out of 2?

6pm - Almeria v Real Madrid - 1.26 away - the Panathanaikos match is difficult to read today so I will begin with Real Madrid, and I said recently that Real are becoming more trustworthy betting propositions with strong home and away form - Ronaldo MUST play. I cannot emphasise the importance of his goalscoring too highly.

6pm - Porto v Naval - 1.13 home - hopefully poor attitude of mid week's cup match will be forgotten this evening. 1.13 signals goals and Porto have only failed to score 2 at home in 1 match - all wins at home, and unbeaten all season. Only 2 draws and they came away. Naval are bottom side .

8pm - Barcelona v Malaga - 1.1 home - Messi, Villa and Pedro on the pitch and we can go over 2.5 goals or even over 3.5 goals ( trade)

110 FAIRYHOUSE - Our Girl Salley should place.

215 FAIRYHOUSE - look for the 2nd placed here for the value.
