27/7

Chelsea should win with ease, albeit in a friendly, FC Copenhagen are a solid Danish side , unbeaten at home last season in the League. They must have too much for Shamrock Rovers - they did make Man Utd work at Copenhagen in the Champions League last season.
Frankel and Canford Cliffs will place surely.
All of these 3 are around the same price. Who is safer?
And for bigger prices, Man Utd have not put a foot wrong in their American tour. 5-2 last year against MLS All stars and likely to continue at a reasonable 1.4 ( illiquid market at present) - don't expect United to be winning at half time though.

***** ONE A DAY - 310 GOODWOOD - Canford Cliffs to place only*****
One of those days I'm afraid , where I wish the bets were spread over different days. Chelsea looks solid, as does FC Copenhagen and I would even be taken by United.
And don't forget Dermot Weld at Galway.

Fiorente placed, Twente won, I thought Rangers were short and they lost 1-0 and I got a nice price Dermot Weld winner ( he had 4 yesterday I believe - normal service resumed for Galway and Dermot Weld).
I was very happy with the message yesterday overall.

130pm - Kitchee SC v Chelsea - 1.13 away - Chelsea kicked into gear against Thailand XI and have won their 3 friendlies without conceding. Kitchee lost 3-0 to Villareal on 27th May 2011. Kitchee are a Hong Kong team and should get mullered by a Chelsea team warming up.

4pm -
Atalanta v Tritium - 1.04 home - interesting news in the Racing Post that Atalanta are cited in match fixing investigation. So, perhaps swerve this one?

5pm -
H Berlin v Real Madrid - 1.37 away - 6,2,3,3,4 - the total goals scored in Hertha Berlin friendlies so far. 9,2,5,2,8,4,4,9,5,3,3 - total goals in Real Madrid's last few matches. Goals anyone?
Again don't get carried away as it is a friendly.

7pm -
FC Copenhagen v Shamrock Rovers - 1.15 home - I like FC Copenhagen -a great team to follow and they really should have too much for Shamrock Rovers, particularly with home advantage. This is a Champions League qualifier so the onus is on Copenhagen to win and win to nil ideally. Looking at Shamrock Rovers recent matches, and they have been tight - 1,2,1,1,1,0 - total goals in last 6 matches for Rovers. A win to nil for FC Copenhagen?

705pm -
Maccabi Haifa v NK Maribor - 1.38 home - 10 of Maribor's last 12 matches have been over 2.5 goals. Haifa's last 2 Champions League qualifiers have been easily over 2.5 goals. Tough to weigh up this Champions League qualifier with Israel v Slovenia. REmember to factor in the away goal .

745pm -
Barcelona v B Munich - Barca led twice yesterday and obviously there will be a totally different side today against Bayern. Expect goals at the Allianz Arena? Ended 2-2 v Internacional. Don't get too carried away though as this is a meaningless friendly.

745pm -
Benfica v Trabzonspor - 1.38 home - Trab have drawn their last 3 matches ( friendlies) 1-1 but how can we determine how they will perform now in this Champions League fixture away from home against a fully motivated Benfica side.

130am -
MLS All-Stars v Man Utd - 1.42 away - United friendlies follow a pattern - draw or lose at halftime then motor away middle of 2nd half. Against Chicago Fire 1-0 down at halftime and won 1-3.
2-5 to United in 2010. United full of goals against inferior opposition and a win expected with a strong Reds side. Wait for halftime and you might get better odds on United if it is a draw or United are losing.

300 GALWAY

BETTING FORECAST: 11/10 Galileo´s Choice, 11/4 Laganbank, 6/1 Drumfire, 7/1 Dingaling, 12/1 Serein, 25/1 De Bartishell, 25/1 Saint By Day, 33/1 Criticize, 33/1 Fantastic Gold, 50/1 Novarov, 100/1 Flemingstown, 150/1 Pink Goddess.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: Dermot Weld has bright prospects of a hat-trick of successes in this race, with GALILEO'S CHOICE sure to know his task ahead of this hurdling debut. Laganbank should put it up to him, while Drumfire retains the potential to make a useful hurdler. [Johnny Ward]

Another Weld runner a favourite. 4 under 14/1 and 5 under 25/1 so Galileo's Choice must have a great chance of success in the place only market.

445 GALWAY

BETTING FORECAST: 5/4 Mutasharef, 4/1 El Gran Torino, 9/2 Pozyc, 7/1 Prince Of Dubai, 10/1 De Valira, 12/1 Paddy The Celeb, 16/1 Catch The Moment, 16/1 Jills Ballet, 50/1 Majestic Sparkle, 66/1 Becheri, 66/1 Labasheeda, 100/1 Slayer.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: Team Rosewell know what is needed to win this race and this does not rate an especially strong renewal, so ready preference is for MUTASHAREF (nap). Pozyc is frustrating and, with El Gran Torino becoming a shade exposed, Prince Of Dubai is put forward as the best alternative. [Johnny Ward]

Mr Weld and another favourite in this maiden - only 1 run 108 days ago.

710 GALWAY

BETTING FORECAST: 4/7 Font Of Wisdom, 100/30 Jolie Jioconde, 8/1 Dame Shanakill, 16/1 Mister Boss, 25/1 Parasympathetic, 33/1 Blue Eyed Bandit, 33/1 The Fourth Of May, 50/1 More Rye.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: Dermot Weld has won 11 of the last 15 runnings of this event, and FONT OF WISDOM looks well ahead of the opposition having run well in the company of previous winners at Fairyhouse. With an official rating of 86 Jolie Jioconde should be a credible opponent, but her ability to justify that mark is questionable at this stage. [Alan Sweetman]

That Man again , and this time Weld/Smullen on Font of Wisdom in an 8 runner race , 3 places and 3 under 50/1 . Now 1/3 favourite and alas they have sniffed out this Weld runner after Weld/Smullen won plenty yesterday. Jolie jioconde looks an obvious alternative along with the other under 50/1 i.e. Dame Shanakill.

310 GOODWOOD

BETTING FORECAST: 8/11 Frankel, 11/8 Canford Cliffs, 20/1 Rajsaman, 40/1 Rio De La Plata.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: The tactics on Frankel have already taken some by surprise on his last two starts but he may well be forced to make the running again in this small field and will need to have more left for the closing stages now that he faces a much better class of rival in the older champion CANFORD CLIFFS. Frankel on his own in the 2,000 Guineas was a performance of brilliance but, even though it should be possible to ride him much more conservatively this time than at Royal Ascot, the suggestion is that his rock-solid older rival will emerge in front.[Richard Austen]

2 horses for 2 places. Surely this will be Frankel - Canford 1-2 in whatever order?

610 LEICESTER

BETTING FORECAST: 8/13 By Invitation, 9/2 Reina Sofia, 7/1 Picura, 10/1 Jessie´s Spirit, 14/1 Lilygloves, 14/1 Lollina Paulina, 50/1 Heartsong, 50/1 Music Girl.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: The withdrawal of her stablemate Continuity should make this a lot easier for BY INVITATION (nap), who looked the stable's number one anyway after shaping like a surefire improver at Kempton.[Alistair Whitehouse-Jones]

4/6 - - - 5/1 price gapper here , another one time outer maiden.

SHORTLIST

130pm - Kitchee SC v Chelsea - 1.13 away - win to nil for a Chelsea side hopefully warming up nicely . Sub 1.2 means we should see a 3/4/5 goal win to nil ( ideally) and the friendlies have seen chelsea win without conceding.

5pm - H Berlin v Real Madrid - 1.37 away - no onus whatsoever for these teams to perform , but goals would be my way in here. 1.15 over 1.5 goals and 1.46 over 2.5 goals.

7pm - FC Copenhagen v Shamrock Rovers - 1.15 home - a good run in the Champions League proper and scoring 2 in their 2 league matches so far this season should see FC Copenhagen winners here in this home leg.

130am - MLS All-Stars v Man Utd - 1.42 away - likely to win eventually and in the 2nd half . Over 2.5 goals has a realistic chance of success - around 1.35 - very illiquid betting market at present ( as you can imagine with the time of kick off)

300 GALWAY - a maiden hurdle but a Weld favourite in Galileo's Choice at 1.18 to place.

710 GALWAY - the price has all but disintegrated in this maiden. But with 3 under 50/1 in an 8 runner race,Jolie and Dame surely represent the value here? Font of Wisdom I suppose would be the win only choice at around 1.35

310 GOODWOOD - 1.14 Frankel and 1.14 Canford Cliffs to place. How on earth will these 2 fail to place in a 4 horse race ? A rewilding like injury? I hope not.
