3/6

For me, France look great this evening but there is a drift on at the moment and I would need team news. italy surely can beat a side losing their top scorer in qualifying, and with home advantage? Finland should easily score 3 shouldn't they? But they are away.
St Nicholas Abbey back to his best? Midday a formidable foe against the boys now? 1.4 to place for St Nicholas Abbey is very generous. But Midday is the one with Group 1 form! Tough to choose. There are 3 under 40/1 and Dandino is the fly in the ointment. I will chance St Nicholas Abbey to finish in the first 2.

*****245 EPSOM - ST NICHOLAS ABBEY TO PLACE ONLY***** 1.4 available currently

It took a while but the Spanish got the 3 goals I expected. I missed out on Carries Magic who win, but I felt the Spanish were the most rock solid.

630pm - Faroe Islands v Slovenia - 1.23 away

HEAD TO HEADS

08.10.2010ECQSlovenia5-1Faroe Islands

If 5-1 is a realistic assessment of the gulfs here, then 1.23 is a steal. Faroes, though, tend to be stronger at home.

LEAGUE POSITION - well Group C Position.2nd v 6th of 6. Germany lead on 13 points, Slovenia have 8 points, Serbia, 8 points and Estonia 7 points so you would think matches Slovenia are entitled to win, must be won.

HOME TEAM FAROES

RECENT HOME FORM - LLWLD - most recent home matches since 2009. All matches of importance ( no friendlies) Win was 2-1 against Lithuania in Sept 2009 and draw was recent 1-1 v Northern Ireland. The Faroes generally do not get spanked at home, and concede around 2 against the better sides ( France 6-0 was anomolous)

RECENT FORM OVERALL - LWDLLLLDLL - win was in a friendly against B1908Amanger!Draw was a friendly 0-0 v Luxembourg. Last draw was 1-1 v Northern Ireland in a Euro qualifier.

GOAL TRENDS - none readily available

STREAKS - 8 without a win - 2 at home without a win

AWAY TEAM - SLOVENIA

RECENT AWAY FORM - LLLLWWLWDWWD - solid away form of late. REcent loss was 2-1 away to Russia in a World Cup qualifier. In the 2010 Euro qualifiers, matches have been relatively tight away - 1-1 v Serbia, 0-1 win v Estonia, 0-0 v Northern Ireland. this latter scoreline is a slight worry as faroes drew with NI recently at home, and scored first.

RECENT OVERALL FORM - WDLWLDWWLWLD - a mixed bag really. Recent losses at home were 1-2 v georgia, and 0-1 v Italy ( late 73rd minute Italian winner)The 5-1 win at home v Faroes really stands out here .

STREAKS - 5 away without a loss.

CONCLUSION/NOTES/STANDOUT STATS - Slovenia have shown their superiority already but Faroes are a different proposition at home. Might be a tricky one but Slovenia should out eventually.

630pm - Liechtenstein v Lithuania - 1.48 away

HEAD TO HEADS - none

LEAGUE POSITION - 5th v 4th in Group I liechtenstein have no points.

HOME TEAM - LIECHTENSTEIN

RECENT HOME FORM - LLLDLLLL - Liecht have scored 1 goal in the last 9 home matches.

RECENT FORM OVERALL - LDLLLDLLLDWL - recent win against San Marino was a 1-0 in a friendly after San Marino got a man sent off. Perhaps tells you all you need to know about the state of this nation!

STREAKS - 9 at home without a win. Lost last 4.

AWAY TEAM - LITHUANIA

RECENT AWAY FORM - WLWLLLWLL - no draw since 2009.WIns against Andorra, Luxembourg and Czech republic. 1-0 against Luxembourg and I would put Leichtenstein on the same footing.

RECENT OVERALL FORM -LWLDWLDWLLWL - 3 losses in last 4 matches.Win was a 2-0 friendly win against Poland.

STREAKS - 5 without a draw, 9 away without a draw

CONCLUSION/NOTES/STANDOUT STATS - Lithuania are unlikely to lose, and given the draw stats above, should win, albeit marginally. Could be a back of Lithuania with a 0-0 cover.
2 very poor sides it must be said.

730pm - San Marino v Finland - 1.05 away - look out for goals and correct scores markets here

HEAD TO HEADS

17.11.2010ECQFinland8-0San Marino

LEAGUE POSITION - GROUP E - Finland 2nd bottom, San Marino bottom.

HOME TEAM - SAN MARINO

RECENT HOME FORM - have lost their last 12. Last goal scored at home was against Slovakia in 2008!!

RECENT FORM OVERALL - lost last 12 ( probably more!) conceding 3,10,7,5,7,3,5,6,8,2,8,1 ( against the might of Liechtenstein)

GOAL TRENDS - likely to lose heavily without scoring.

STREAKS - there for all to see!

AWAY TEAM -FINLAND

RECENT AWAY FORM - LWDDWLDLLDWL - surely we have to treat San Marino as separate as they are unique in being shocking! Recent losses for Finland v Holland, Moldova and Portugal so a high enough calibre of side.

RECENT OVERALL FORM - LWLDWLLLWDWL - in the Euro Qualifiers LLLW ( win v San marino) Losses were 2-0 away to Moldova, 2-1 away to Holland, and 1-2 at home to Hungary

STREAKS - no standout streaks

CONCLUSION/NOTES/STANDOUT STATS - San Marino should lose to nil. Finland are a poor side, but San Marino are even poorer. 3-0, 4-0, 5-0 worthy of speculation here for Finland to get a much needed 3 points.
Mixu Paatelainen's first squad as Finland coach - should see a team out to impress.

735pm - Austria v Germany - 1.37 away - a strong German side with the stars in it will have too much.

HEAD TO HEADS

16.06.2008ECAustria0-1Germany
06.02.2008FRLAustria0-3Germany

No recent head to heads.

LEAGUE POSITION - GROUP A -Germany top and Austria 4th 15 points play 7 - clean sweep for the Germans.

HOME TEAM - AUSTRIA

RECENT HOME FORM - WLWWLWLLWWLL - no draw in last 12 in all competitions. In Euro qualifiers at home, 2-0 v kazaks, 3-0 v Azerbaijan, and lost 0-2 to Belgium.

RECENT FORM OVERALL - LLWLLWWDLLLL - last 2 losses in the Euros were 2-0 home Belgium and 2-0 away Turkey

STREAKS - 17 home matches without a draw!

AWAY TEAM - GERMANY

RECENT AWAY FORM - WWWWWWLWDWWD- superb away form. Some of these were World Cup matches as was the 1-0 Spain win, the germans' sole loss.

RECENT OVERALL FORM - LWDWWWWDDWLW - recent loss was in a friendly against Australia. Last 3 matches in Euro qualifiers all wins and all without conceding.

GOAL TRENDS - in 5 matches in the Euros, Germany have won 4 without conceding and conceded only 1 in the other match. Performances built on solid defence.

STREAKS - 5 away without a loss.

CONCLUSION/NOTES/STANDOUT STATS - Klose, Ballack and Schweinsteiger out for Germany a major blow? I don't know. They seem based on NOT conceding and these players are more attack minded - I hope for a Germany away win without conceding and may over the 0-0

745pm - Italy v Estonia - 1.18 home

HEAD TO HEADS

03.09.2010ECQEstonia1-2Italy

Italy 1-0 down won with 2 away goals

LEAGUE POSITION GROUP C - 1st v 4th Italy on 13, Estonia on 7 points.Italy have a game in hand over 2nd and 3rd on 8 points so this represents a fine opportunity for a side at home to consolidate 1st place.

HOME TEAM - ITALY

RECENT HOME FORM - LWWDWDLDDLW - mixed bag of competitions -recently lost to Ivory Coast and Mexico in friendlies.5-0 home win in Euro qualifiers against Faroes.

RECENT FORM OVERALL - WWDDDWW - post World Cup. - in Euro qualifiers 1-2 away win v Estonia, 5-0 home win v Faroes, 0-0 away draw with Northern Ireland and home match v Serbia abandoned. New manager in Cesare Prandelli may see a shift from the old guard to newcomers like Guiseppe Rossi.

STREAKS - 7 overall without a loss

AWAY TEAM - ESTONIA

RECENT AWAY FORM - WLDLWLL - most recent win a Euro qualifier away to Serbia - 1-3 - the rest were friendlies.

RECENT OVERALL FORM - WLDWLDLLDWDL - 1-0 loss to Slovenia and 1-1 draw with Serbia in the Euro qualifiers.

STREAKS - 4 away without a draw

CONCLUSION/NOTES/STANDOUT STATS - Tarmo Rüütli is without key midfielder Aleksandr Dmitrijev and qualifying top scorer Konstantin Vassiljev for the Italy trip which is good news for the Italians. 1.18 is optimistic and recounts an easy win by 2,3,4. It may not be that easy. No new faces in the Italian squad, but home advantage should surely tell here eventually, although what angle does a trader get in? Faith in a sub 1.2 team scoring 3/4?
750pm - Belarus v France - 1.6 away

HEAD TO HEADS

03.09.2010ECQFrance0-1Belarus

context is important. Belarus were playing a France side light of a few first teamers and suffering in the aftermath of a horrifying World Cup. Expect a different France tonight.

LEAGUE POSITION GROUP D - 1st v 2nd, 12points v 8 points.Since that defeat, it's been solidity from France.2 away wins and 2 home wins and guess what? All 2-0 scorelines. So solidity in defence ( a defender as manager helps)

HOME TEAM - BELARUS

RECENT HOME FORM- WDLDWDWLDWDL - a fair few draws - The final DW was the Euro qualifier matches.Last 6 matches all under 2.5 goals and a recent friendly 1-0 loss to Canada perhaps augurs well for Les Bleus.

RECENT FORM OVERALL - DWLWWDDWWDLL - last 2 losses both 1-0's against Albania and Canada. In fact 2 of last 3 wins were against Albania. Draw recently 0-0 v Belarus again a good sign for what should be a revitalised France side.

GOAL TRENDS - Euro qualifiers have been 1-0, 0-0, 0-0, 1-0 -tight affairs.

STREAKS - 3 without a win, 2 away without a draw.

AWAY TEAM - FRANCE

RECENT AWAY FORM - DWWDWDDLLWWW - good winning streak at the end there included wins against Bosnia, England and Luxembourg.Losses in a World Cup match and a friendly but this I feel is a new France.

RECENT OVERALL FORM - LWWWWWWD - the loss? 1-0 at home to Belarus. Great response and the only goal conceded was by v England at Wembley ( a match they won)

GOAL TRENDS - emphasis on defensive capabilities here

STREAKS - 7 without a loss in a row, 3 away winning streak, 5 without a draw

CONCLUSION/NOTES/STANDOUT STATS - important news from the UEFA website that Belarus are without 8 first team regulars. add into the mix a resurgent and defensively adept French side, and their away price looks very appealing. I can't help thinking this France price looks big here and the news regarding injury hit Belarus makes it a strong bet at the price.

FRENCH OPEN 1pm - NADAL V MURRAY - 1.17 - an ankle injury against the Clay King. A bridge too far?

Small fields at Bath make it wholly unappealing.

415 CATTERICK

BETTING FORECAST: 1/5 King Of The Celts, 10/1 Tasman Tiger, 14/1 December, 20/1 Jersey Joe, 20/1 Rosie Raymond, 33/1 Good Faith.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: It'll be a major surprise if clear form-pick KING OF THE CELTS is beaten in this ultra-uncompetitive event. [Richard Young]

Small field, huge price gapper should mean just one thing

140 EPSOM

BETTING FORECAST: 11/10 Antara, 9/4 Timepiece, 17/2 Clinical, 14/1 Nabah, 16/1 First City, 16/1 Saddlers Bend, 25/1 Skyway, 28/1 Mountain Rose.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: ANTARA and Timepiece have a sizeable edge on the others and may have this between them. Antara made a winning return in this last year before running well in Group 1 and 2 company and will be hard to beat if refinding that form after a low-key end to 2010. Nabah may be best of the rest.[Mel Cullinan]

3 under 14/1 and the market taken up by 2 horses in this class race.

245 EPSOM

BETTING FORECAST: 5/6 St Nicholas Abbey, 6/4 Midday, 10/1 Dandino, 33/1 Clowance, 33/1 Indian Days.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: There is no guaranteed pacesetter, so this could become tactical, though Indian Days has front-run in the past. Multiple Group 1 winner Midday commands plenty of respect on her first run against the males since her reappearance here as a 3yo but ST NICHOLAS ABBEY looked back to his best when streaking away with a Chester Group 3 last time and is potentially a class apart if in the same form again.[Mel Cullinan]

A 2 horse race surely? St Nicholas Abbey was superb last time out and surely should place here? Dandino the each way spoiler in what looks a 3 horse race for 2 places.

825 GOODWOOD

BETTING FORECAST: 5/4 Rougette, 9/4 Brinmore, 9/2 Another Whisper, 9/1 Iztaccihuatl, 11/1 Queen Of Epirus, 16/1Adaeze, 40/1 Summerandlightning, 50/1 County Hotel, 50/1 Ondeafears, 66/1 A B Celebration.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: ROUGETTE finished on the heels of her two main market rivals who raced more prominently in a stronger 7f Newbury maiden last month. She has leading claims in a race that lacks strength in depth and can make it third time lucky. The chief threat is Brinmore, who outran her 66-1 odds when an eye-catching fifth over 7f here on debut last month. [David Moon]

4 over 50/1 and 3 under 12/1 . Rougette threatening odds on status here.

235 MUSSELBURGH

BETTING FORECAST: 11/8 Violent Velocity, 5/1 Mangham, 6/1 Ra Junior, 7/1 Amno Dancer, 14/1 Shunkawakhan, 16/1 Cold Quest, 16/1 Military Call, 16/1 Safari Guide, 20/1 Drive Home, 25/1 Walleyd, 33/1 Second Reef, 33/1 Spread Boy.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: Mangham, Ra Junior and Amno Dancer are all capable of winning off their current mark butVIOLENT VELOCITY bolted up at the weekend and should prove hard to beat under his penalty.[Paul Smith]

Ra Junior now 3/1 here to threaten what was a price gapper in a class 6 0-65 handicap

425 MUSSELBURGH

BETTING FORECAST: 5/6 Motivado, 5/1 Lexington Bay, 6/1 Cosmic Moon, 8/1 Szabo´s Destiny, 10/1 Quiz Mistress, 20/1 Piave, 20/1 Sky Falcon.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: Some interesting and lightly raced 3yos in opposition but none appeals more than MOTIVADO (nap). Sir Mark Prescott's son of Motivator stepped up on his juvenile form when running away with a Ripon handicap on his reappearance and this longer trip should suit him very well.[Paul Smith]

Huge price gapper here 8/13 - - - -- 8/1 now

SHORTLIST

630pm - Faroe Islands v Slovenia - 1.23 away - Slovenia should not lose, and should win but a draw may be a possibility with both sides recently drawing against Northern Ireland.

730pm - San Marino v Finland - 1.05 away - halftime/fulltime is 1.25 and slight risk as Finland are away. 1.3 over 2.5 goals should be manageable. New manager syndrome may see a more effective Finland today?

735pm - Austria v Germany - 1.37 away - only conceded 1 in 5 matches shows us German strengths. Back Germany with 0-0 cover?

745pm - Italy v Estonia - 1.18 home - can Italy take advantage of Estonia's missing key midfielder and top scorer in qualifying?

750pm - Belarus v France - 1.6 away - french on the drift to 1.64 . why? No major injuries for France and I see this as a good price. 0-0 cover on the match just as insurance. Are the Belarussians as injured as UEFA makes out? If so, then this makes France doubly strong.

415 CATTERICK - 1.18 King of the Celts - it's on the flat, it's a small field and we could chance the win.

245 EPSOM - St Nicholas Abbey 1.4 to place, Midday 1.3 to place. Great odds, albeit slightly suspiciously high, but then glass half full sees them as value!

425 MUSSELBURGH - 1.14 to place, the best price gapper of the day.

730pm - San Marino v Finland -1.3 over 2.5 goals is very reasonable here for a finnish team under new management against a side, let me remind you, who have conceded 3,10,7,5,7,3,5,6,8,2,8,1 in their last few matches and 8 against Finland prior. It will, though, mean Finland have to score 3 minimum as San Marino are unlikely to score.

735pm - Austria v Germany - 1.37 away - out to 1.41 now I would back Germany and cover my stake by backing 0-0 at 21.

745pm - Italy v Estonia - 1.18 home - Estonia missing key personnel including their top scorer in qualifying so Italy score, they should win

750pm - Belarus v France - 1.6 away - drift now to 1.65 for the french but they seem newly revitalised and Belarus have injuries galore. Again back France with a 0-0 insurance bet, although with 0-0 at 10.5, the market expects a tight match,.

245 EPSOM - 5 runners , 2 are 40/1, one 11/1 and 2 are 5/4 and 11/8 ( or rather they cannot be split). Dandino the fly in the ointment. This should be St Nicholas or Midday and backing either to place will assume both do place as it is difficult to choose.
