16/6

I have shortlisted this to an archetypal place only race where everything seems ideal bar the fact this is a claimer, and a football match where the away side have conceded 23 goals in 5 away matches. 1.2 with Bet365 and 1.28 currently with Betfair, I think Ham -Kam, winning 4 on the trot, have the winning thread. But 2 wins recently at home only 1-0 is a slight worry.
A tough choice today. The horse racing is generally poor. It was too much to ask for another Canford Cliffs or So you think today. Fame and Glory is the jolly today but he is going up from 1 mile 6 ( 14 furlongs) to 2 mile 4 ( 20 furlongs) - that's some hike!

*****ONE A DAY - 6pm - 6pm - Ham-Kam v Randaberg - 1.28 home - 1.2 with the bookies, and a hope that Randaberg continue their appalling away form and Ham-Kam continue their recent winning streak. Risk because of the fact this is Norwegian Division 2 and a season only 10 games old, but I hope that the form will out. Potentially safer bet would be over 1.5 goals but very stingy at 1.11. Over 2.5 goals is only 1.35. *****

So you think placed with ease.

1230pm - Singapore Armed Forces v Phnom Penh Crown - 1.18 home - Malaysia v Cambodia and no real research can be down re teams who have not met before. go with the the odds? Etoile beat Phnom Penh 2-1 ( Phnom scored a penalty only) and this could be a way in to likely result today. Young Lions from Singapore also beat Phnom Penh 0-2 back in 2009. Likelihood is the more competitive Singapore league should out.
6pm - Ham-Kam v Randaberg - 1.28 home - this is 5th v bottom ( 16th)
Norwegian 2nd tier so not an area of expertise for me. Ham-Kam have won their last 4 matches 1-0, 1-5, 1-0, 1-3 scoring a bucket load away from home.
Overall DLDDLLWWWW 4 scorelines have been 1-0 - 2 wins and 2 losses. A sudden switch in form with wins over 6th, 8th, 9th and 10th. A win takes Ham-Kam top albeit having played one more match.
LLWW at home so far this season ( only 10 matches overall played) Losses against 1st and 3rd and last 2 wins both 1-0 home wins.
Last win was a 1-0 after the opponents got a man sent off in the 44th minute.
Randaberg are bottom and obviously in their 10 matches have been poor.
LLLLDLWLDL - draws against 10th and 4th. 2-2 draw saw Randaberg 2-0 down.
Win was a 3-2 against 9th in the league. Randaberg were 2-0 down - their opponents got a man sent off . Randaberg scored their last 2 goals in the 86th and 92th minute so this is far from impressive.
In all of Randeberg's recent matches , including cup matches, they have conceded 2,7,2,4,1,2,4,2,5,4,2,4. 10 of the 12 matches over 2.5 goals and the 2 others had 2 goals in the matches.
Randaberg have only played 5 away matches this season losing the lot emphatically - 7-0, 4-0, 4-1, 4-1, 4-2 against 3rd, 8th, 11th, 13th, 12th and today they are playing 5th in the league. Expectation for another 4 goal defeat?
6pm - Sweden (W) v Mexico (W) - 1.28 home - international woman's friendly - nuff said.
730pm - Germany (W) v Norway (W) - 1.41 home - as above.

345 ASCOT

BETTING FORECAST: 15/8 Fame And Glory, 11/2 Duncan, 9/1 Holberg, 12/1 Blue Bajan, 14/1 Brigantin, 14/1 Kasbah Bliss, 14/1 Manighar, 16/1 Motrice, 16/1 Opinion Poll, 16/1 Tastahil, 20/1 Askar Tau, 20/1 Fictional Account, 20/1 Geordieland, 40/1 The Betchworth Kid, 66/1 Aaim To Prosper.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: Not the strongest of renewals despite the decent-sized field. Fame And Glory is a class apart on his 1m4f form over the last couple of seasons but he hasn't quite reproduced it in two wins at a bit further this season and has never run at beyond 1m6f. In the circumstances - and at the prices - a chance is taken on HOLBERG refinding his best form on this more suitable ground, in which case he is capable of having a big say as he showed stamina aplenty when winning the Queen's Vase as a 3yo in his only previous run at Ascot. Fame And Glory still rates the main danger, ahead of Motrice andBrigantin.[Mel Cullinan]

Bookies benefit day today at Ascot with big fields and a strong market leader trying 2 mile 4 furlongs, having never gone further than 1 mile 6. Frank Spencer onboard .

740 BEVERLEY

BETTING FORECAST: 3/1 Jeu De Roseau, 9/2 Escape Artist, 6/1 Im Spartacus, 6/1 Spruzzo, 8/1 Bring Sweets, 8/1Tobernea, 10/1 Rannoch Moor, 14/1 Spiders Star, 20/1 Just Observing, 20/1 Oniz Tiptoes, 20/1 Strikemaster.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: Jeu De Roseau needs considering but he's taken on with ESCAPE ARTIST (nap), whose sole win has been over this C&D, who has the headgear refitted, is from an in-form yard and who shaped as though the return to this trip would suit on his reappearance run.[Richard Young]

An affiliation with Barney Curley means the fav needs a look in the market

600 FFOS LAS

BETTING FORECAST: 8/11 Art Broker, 4/1 Peppertree Lane, 5/1 Maadraa, 10/1 Tiger Breeze, 12/1 Dubaian Quest.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: ART BROKER stands out here as he holds a comfortable advantage over his rivals on collateral form and the main worry is whether he will consent to produce the goods when asked.[Jonathan Neesom]

3 under 12/1 currently and an odds on favourite - 3 horses for 2 places?

700 FFOS LAS

BETTING FORECAST: 4/5 Black Jack Blues, 15/8 Pure Faith, 9/1 Selskar, 14/1 Oceana Gold, 25/1 Nordwind.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: Pure Faith did it well at Aintree but he, and the rest, will struggle to keep tabs on BLACK JACK BLUES if this chasing debutant shows his customary flair.[Jonathan Neesom]

McCoy loves Ffos Las and this looks a 2 horse race WITH A CLEAR ROUND as this is a novices chase.

730 FFOS LAS

BETTING FORECAST: 4/5 Spirit Of Barbados, 11/2 Strumble Head, 7/1 Grovemere, 9/1 The Wee Midget, 10/1Ommega, 14/1 Orion Express, 20/1 Abayaan.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: Most of these are in form but SPIRIT OF BARBADOS stands out on the basis of his Worcester success and is the only one of the group clearly ahead of the handicapper.[Jonathan Neesom]

Price gapper in a handicap hurdle due to go up 12lbs on Saturday - only 2 places but should place with a clear round

830 FFOS LAS

BETTING FORECAST: 2/5 Oasis Knight, 3/1 Stonethrower, 10/1 Conellie, 33/1 Argaum, 33/1 Weldone Honey, 66/1 Hi Wycombe.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: OASIS KNIGHT is not the most reliable but will have to underperform in a big way to blow what looks an easy opportunity.[Jonathan Neesom]

Follow the market here? 2 places on offer - 3 under 33/1 -McCoy onboard but clear round expected.

850 LEICESTER

BETTING FORECAST: Evs Midnight Oil, 7/2 Shamacam, 8/1 Diptimat, 8/1 High Samana, 10/1 Gilt, 12/1 Rishikesh, 33/1Oakdown, 50/1 Chippy, 50/1 Strength And Stay, 50/1 Talbot Green, 100/1 Milton Hill.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: MIDNIGHT OIL, who very much caught the eye at Sandown last time, looks the obvious one in an interesting maiden. Shamacam, 8l behind the selection on that occasion, may be closer this time.[Andrew Mount]

5 under 16/1 -faith in Fallon//Cumani?

605 LEOPARDSTOWN

BETTING FORECAST: 11/10 Foot Soldier, 9/4 Rubina, 3/1 Bahama Spirit, 12/1 Strategic Heights, 14/1 Mr Cooper, 16/1Dragon Khan.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: Any positive market moves for Bahama Spirit and Rubina would be encouraging but Ballydoyle's FOOT SOLDIER makes most appeal to build on his Curragh debut run over this trip last month with much improvement expected. [Brian Fleming]

2 year old maiden - faith in improvement for the Ballydoyle favourite?

835 LEOPARDSTOWN

BETTING FORECAST: 5/2 Ted Dolly, 6/1 Spin Of A Coin, 7/1 Silly Dancer, 8/1 Balladiene, 8/1 Lily´s Star, 8/1Teajaybe, 10/1 Great Realief, 12/1 Belleau, 12/1 Cookie Crumbles, 12/1 Orafinitis, 14/1 Jeangeorges, 20/1 Beauthea.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: TED DOLLY went up 8lb for his recent Cork victory over a furlong shorter and Joanna Morgan's challenger makes most appeal again under his mandatory 5lb penalty with Silly Dancer and Spin Of A Coin next best. [Brian Fleming]

6/4 - - - -7/1 price gapper but note the time of the race.

150 WARWICK

BETTING FORECAST: 13/8 Danceyourselfdizzy, 7/2 High Five Society, 4/1 Divine Rule, 5/1 Urban Kode, 7/1 Lean Machine, 33/1 Algurayn, 33/1 Fajer Al Kuwait, 33/1 Vogarth.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: DANCEYOURSELFDIZZY ran respectably in a better claimer than this at Salisbury last time and it will probably come down to him seeing out the trip.[Alistair Whitehouse-Jones]

8 runners - 3 places - 5 under 33/1 means now odds on Dance looks primed to place albeit in a poor race.

255 WARWICK

BETTING FORECAST: Evs Catalinas Diamond, 2/1 Tomodachi, 10/1 Pinch Of Posh, 14/1 Mandatori, 20/1 Adaeze, 20/1Misshollygolightly, 20/1 Quest For Silver, 25/1 Nafa, 33/1 Festival Dance, 33/1 Sannibel, 50/1 Gambatte, 50/1 Zagalinis Speech, 100/1 Lambrini Belle.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: Catalinas Diamond is the safest option after proving her wellbeing at Salisbury butTOMODACHI is also a talented if fragile filly and has the better draw. Although she started over a mile, her pedigree suggests this trip will be fine.[Alistair Whitehouse-Jones]

4 under 16/1 and 2 dominant fillies. 276 day absence for Tomodachi puts Catalina in my mind.

445 WARWICK

BETTING FORECAST: 10/11 Transfer, 6/1 Corrib, 7/1 Magnitude, 9/1 Ishismart, 10/1 Lion Road, 12/1 Hathaway, 16/1Warrior Nation, 25/1 Robbmaa, 33/1 Libre, 33/1 Petito, 50/1 Chill Out Charley, 50/1 Scarlet Ridge.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: A race that revolves around TRANSFER (nap), who has clearly benefited from a change of surroundings and is really well treated on last week's win. The opposition are playing for minor honours if he can reproduce that display, with Hathaway taken to chase him home.[Stuart Redding]

Price gapper in a class 6 0-55 handicap.4/6 - - - - 5/1 price gapper due to go up 11lbs in the future.

SHORTLIST

1230pm - Singapore Armed Forces v Phnom Penh Crown - 1.18 home - no form to go on but Phnom Penh's results against Singapore opponents has seen 2 easy defeats.

6pm - Ham-Kam v Randaberg - 1.28 home - pretty compelling results for the away side - lost 5 and conceded 7,4,4,4,4 - surely this can continue against 5th in the league? Ham-Kam have won their last 4, but strangely are scraping home 1-0 but have scored 8 in 2 away matches!
Looks a good opportunity for a home win today , although my knowledge of Norwegian 2nd tier is the obstacle. Over 1.5 goals covers any potential shocks but the market expects goals at 1.11 - 1.36 over 2.5 goals?

600 FFOS LAS - Art Broker is 1.2 to place which is reasonable given the chances with a clear round of jumping.

830 FFOS LAS - around 1.15 for Oasis Knight but it must be said that the evening markets are very illiquid indeed.

605 LEOPARDSTOWN - enters the realms of "speculative" this 2 year old maiden. The argument to back Foot soldier? Purely down to the stable's 2 year olds improving markedly after their first runs.

150 WARWICK - ideal race type - 8 runners - 3 places - 5 under 33/1 and an odds on favourite in Danceyourselfdizzy. 1.22 to place. This should be a 5 horse race for 3 places

445 WARWICK - Transfer a warm order at 1.12 to place.

SHORTLIST OF THE SHORTLIST

1230pm - Singapore Armed Forces v Phnom Penh Crown - 1.18 home - far stronger league than the Cambodian league and surely can make home advantage count. Slight niggle that we are basing opinion on the market really.

6pm - Ham-Kam v Randaberg - 1.28 home - could this pay off today? randaberg have conceded 7,4,4,4,4 in their 5 away matches so far this season. Ham-Kam have won their last 4 matches. Looks ideal and at a reasonable price? Niggle? norwegian Division 2 and also dangerous to make decisions based on form from only 10 matches played so far.

150 WARWICK - if this were not a claimer I would be all over this race. As things stand , it is an 8 runner race for 3 places with 5 horses under 33/1 and an odds on well fancied market leader in Danceyourselfdizzy who is 1.22 to place which is reasonable if we assume the race becomes a race of 5 horses for 3 places. An 11/10 - - - - - 5/1 price gapper too adds confidence .
