15/6

I will continue with the strong horses today and I think So you Think will at least finish in the first 2.

*****ONE A DAY - 345 ASCOT - SO YOU THINK TO PLACE AT 1.17 CURRENTLY*****

You can only dream about having horses of the calibre of Goldikova, Canford Cliffs and Frankel running every day! Would make life a lot easier.

1230pm - Etoile v Tanjong Pagar - 1.15 - yesterday's game from Singapore went exactly as per the odds - a 5-1 win - expect the same today with the same odds? This is another Cup match and etoile won in the league in February by 3-0.
This is 5th v 11th .
1 win, 12 losses, 3 draws for Tanjong in the league and -33 goal difference plays 8 wins, 2 draws, 2 losses and +14 goal difference.
As it is a Cup match there is no real point dwelling on it, suffice to say we should hope for a replication of yesterday's scoreline with exactly the same odds for Home United which could bring into play the halftime/fulltime market?

430pm - HJK Helsinki v RoPS - 1.25 home - plenty of liquidity about in this match for the starved Footy traders.

HEAD TO HEADS

13.09.2009D1HJK Helsinki4-0RoPS Rovaniemi
31.05.2009D1RoPS Rovaniemi1-0HJK Helsinki
28.09.2008D1RoPS Rovaniemi2-0HJK Helsinki
29.06.2008D1HJK Helsinki3-2RoPS Rovaniemi
26.02.2008LCRoPS Rovaniemi0-0HJK Helsinki

No recent head to heads indicate that one of these teams was in a lower league and the suggestion, with the odds as they are, is that RoPS are returning to the top flight. Today's odds suggest a replication of the 4-0 when they last met in September 2009.

LEAGUE POSITION - 2nd v 8th after 9 matches, and again we are early in a season so form lines and trends will be weak.

HOME TEAM - HELSINKI

RECENT HOME FORM - WWWW in the league. Helsinki have been kept busy with friendlies and Liiga Cup matches and in the last 12 overall, have won 10, drawn 1 and lost 1. Wins against 7th, 9th, 1st and 3rd sees Helsinki in good order for facing 9th today. 4-1, 1-0, 1-0, 6-2 scorelines. The 2 1-0's saw 70th minute winners and hints at a relatively solid defence.

RECENT FORM OVERALL - LWWWWLWWW - no draws. Losses against 4th and 5th were both 2-0's and both away from home.

GOAL TRENDS HElsinki have kept a clean sheet in 6 of their last 7 matches. Average 3 scored and 0.75 conceded albeit in a very small sample of home matches.

STREAKS - some solid streaks in overall play ( not just league) -14 matches without a draw overall, 11 at home. 9 match home winning streak, 4 overall.

AWAY TEAM - RoPS

RECENT AWAY FORM - DLWL - draw against 5th 3-3 saw an 89th minute equaliser. 1-0 loss to 6th. 4-0 win over bottom side and 2-0 loss against 11th.

RECENT OVERALL FORM - WDLLWLLDD - only 2 wins against 9th and bottom side.REcent draws against 4th and 7th, 1-1 and 0-0. The 1-1 saw RoPS 1-0 down , their opponents get a man sent off and they get a penalty to make it 1-1 so very lucky and unmerited draw.

GOAL TRENDS -average 1.75 scored , 1.5 conceded away and again a sample of 4 matches.

STREAKS - 4 overall without a win, 3 away without a draw.

CONCLUSION/NOTES/STANDOUT STATS - the lack of a draw is the first thing that stands out and laying the draw is an obvious starting point. But if the draw is out of the equation, and I cannot see RoPS win, then we default to Helsinki? Beware the 1-0 RoPS scoreline against 6th in the league, but the way the points are panning out, the top 2 look a step up . So many recent clean sheets for Helsinki bodes well for a correct score to nil?

345 ASCOT

BETTING FORECAST: 4/9 So You Think, 4/1 Planteur, 10/1 Rewilding, 10/1 Twice Over, 33/1 Jan Vermeer, 66/1Debussy, 66/1 Sri Putra.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: It is very hard to oppose SO YOU THINK who is 6-6 at this trip and has been very impressive when winning both his starts for Aidan O'Brien this year. Planteur is also very much at home over this distance and can follow him home.[Adrian Cook]

Another potential superstar in So you think , who is now at Ballydoyle and has the able assistance of Ryan Moore ( 8/13 with next best 7/1 for top jockey at Royal Ascot)

500 ASCOT

BETTING FORECAST: 11/10 Shumoos, 7/1 Gypsy Robin, 10/1 Dozy, 10/1 Fire Lily, 12/1 Best Terms, 12/1 Somasach, 14/1 Vocational, 16/1 Ebony Clarets, 16/1 Ruby´s Day, 20/1 Bubbly Ballerina, 20/1 Kohala, 25/1 Charlotte Rosina, 25/1 On The Dark Side, 100/1 Caledonia Lady.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: With half the field unbeaten, US, French and Irish challengers taking on the home side, it is hard to be confident about the outcome. Nevertheless, it was hard not to be impressed with the way SHUMOOS won on her debut and, with the form having received a significant boost, she looks the one to beat. Gypsy Robin and Ruby's Day could prove the pick of her rivals.[Frank Carter]

The market is extremely sweet about Shumoos here, a one time out 2 year old in a race full of 2 year olds. 5/4 - -- - - 7/1 price gapper after one run?

Frederick Engels, who was 2nd to Shumoos, won yesterday I believe at Royal Ascot, so now we are getting a picture regarding why this filly is so short.

710 KEMPTON

BETTING FORECAST: 7/4 Seelo, 6/1 Goodness, 8/1 My Vindication, 8/1 Spifer, 12/1 Safari Team, 14/1 Ibsaar, 14/1 Ivan Vasilevich, 16/1 Deorai, 25/1 Shewalksinbeauty.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: Goodness, Spifer and Tenby Lady are all capable of better as the season progresses butSEELO (nap) routed his rivals at Pontefract last time, is open to further improvement and looks well treated under a 6lb penalty.[Paul Smith]

4/6 now but note the race time! Big price gapper in this handicap.

850 RIPON

BETTING FORECAST: 6/4 Long Awaited, 13/8 Easy Over, 11/2 Hills Of Dakota, 8/1 Powder Keg, 12/1 Russian Winter, 16/1 Langtoon Lass, 25/1 Fire In Babylon, 40/1 See Vermont, 100/1 Indigo Sands.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: This race has been won by 20-1 shots in three of the last six years and the last favourite to win was back in 2002 but there's unlikely to be an upset if the form horses Long Awaited and EASY OVER live up to expectations. The verdict goes to the Ed McMahon-trained runner whose only juvenile start came in a Haydock maiden that's worked out extremely well.[Steve Boow]

2 under 12/1 and Long awaited 4/6 .

SHORTLIST

1230pm - Etoile v Tanjong Pagar - 1.15 - 1.13 now and a hope Etoile take the Cup as seriously as Home United did yesterday.
Expect goals?

430pm - HJK Helsinki v RoPS - 1.25 home - no draws in 9 for Helsinki so far hints at a home win rather than a home loss. Very early in the season, and as we saw with Djurgardens the other day, surprises can occur. Helsinki look a class apart though.

345 ASCOT - looks another race for another top class horse. So you Think is 1.17 to place which is generous enough for me. Only 2 places, I hope that So you think continues his impressive northern hemisphere career.

500 ASCOT - Shumoos is warm order here thanks to the winning performance of Frederick Engels yesterday. Is this enough to back the horse based on a sole run, as a 2 year old now, and in a 5 furlong Group 2 where all bar one of the horses have won. He is a generous 1.31 to place if we want to take a risk on a one time out 2 year old. The biggest price gapper of the day.
