2/5

Back on track with paddy reilly yesterday
A look at both horses and footy today, and rugby!
140 UTTOX
BETTING FORECAST: 11/10 Dreamy Sweeney, 5/1 Flaming Charlie, 7/1 Outlaw Tom, 10/1 Rodney´s Pillar, 14/1 Cash Calculator, Knight In The City, Quannapowitt, 20/1 Captain Crackers, King Stanley, 25/1 Joe´s A Boy, 33/1 Betavix, Billybo, Cool Defender, Mic Aubin, 100/1 Commanche Smiles, Oceans.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: DREAMY SWEENEY comes with risks as he can take a keen hold and today's easier ground wouldn't be ideal with that in mind, but he is an extremely exciting prospect for his top yard and his class is expected to count. Flaming Charlie did not come cheap after winning his Irish point by a street and is an interesting rival.[AWJ]

Spotlight amply exposes the negatives here -price gapper - price gap has shorened in live market. Biggish field but a lot who, pricewsie, can be discounted. McCoy on for Henderson 1.32 to place

145 PUNCH
SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: SERPENTARIA can make it four in a row. The Willie Mullins-trained mare has made great progress since the end of her four-year-old career 12 months ago, when she was beaten 4l by Oscar Rebel in this event, and her rise through the ratings means that she now meets last year's winner on 6lb better than current handicap terms. She has proved extremely versatile in terms of trip, having won successively over 2m at Leopardstown, 2m4f at Cork, and 3m at Fairyhouse last time. A possible preference for better ground is the main concern.\n

no betting forecast up on the site as I write. Must ge a mention as this is another Mullins/Walsh short priced price gapper and they have cleaned up this past week with double figure winners 1.47 -illiquid market

155 THIRSK
BETTING FORECAST: 1/2 Here Now And Why, 5/1 Vilnius, 11/2 Falasteen, 12/1 Cassidy K, 33/1 Musiara.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: HERE NOW AND WHY is one of the better early juveniles and can give the weight away. Falasteen, like the selection, has been given an entry in a class 2 race at Chester next week and he may prove a bigger threat than seller winner Vilnius.[FC]

They're coming thick and fast - another price gapper and it looks like one clear outsider, perhaps stretching to 2.2 debutants in this 2 year old race.Neil Callan is no Frank Spencer, thank God and I thik can give this shortie the run he deserves - now 1/3 in live market 1.1 to place - now 4 runners with Vilnius a non runner-2 outsiders remain leaving a great opportunity to beat 1 to place

255 GDWD
BETTING FORECAST: 5/4 Born Tobouggie, 100/30 Perfect Star, 4/1 Scuffle, 12/1 Cassique Lady, Eva´s Request, 14/1 Infamous Angel, 16/1 Lady Francesca, 25/1 Sawab.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: BORN TOBOUGGIE (nap) should be hard to catch, having beaten Perfect Star and Scuffle with more in hand than the winning margin suggests in a 1m Listed race at Kempton last month. Though Born Tobouggie pinched first run to some extent then, it looked more a case of her having come on again since last year and simply being much the best filly in the race. She won three times on turf last year and ought to take a deal of catching on this return to grass, with Perfect Star taken to chase her home again. [MCu]

Shortie in a listed race and only 3 under double figure odds 1.34 to place

255 PUNCH
BETTING FORECAST: 11/10 Mourad, 4/1 The Fist Of God, 9/2 Jumbo Rio, 7/1 Tharawaat, 10/1 Flag Of Honour, Kaprun, 12/1 Chevalier Country, 20/1 Donegal.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: MOURAD rose to the occasion a great deal better than any of the other Irish challengers in the Triumph and looks like giving Willie Mullins in another Grade 1 winner at the meeting.

Another Walsh/Mullins odds on shot and they've all won this festival 1.19 to place

340 THIRSK
BETTING FORECAST: 10/11 Palacefield, 100/30 Royal Defence, 6/1 Ishe Mac, 8/1 Fantasy Land, 20/1 Cry Of Truth, 25/1 Catch Key, Steel Trade, 33/1 Flynn´s Island, Go Alone, Two Turtle Doves, 66/1 Elusive Style, 100/1 Golden Kiss, Luckette, Smitain.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: Peter Chapple-Hyam looks to have found a good opportunity for PALACEFIELD, though Royal Defence will ensure he does not have things all his own way in a maiden that, Ishe Mac aside, offers few other credible opponents.[GN]

A 4 horse race judging by the betting with ust 4 under 20/1.
Fav has had 2 runs and a recent run which is always good to see in a maiden 1.2 to place

750 DON
BETTING FORECAST: 7/4 Exceptional Art, 5/2 Border Patrol, 5/1 War Native, 6/1 Agente Parmigiano, 8/1 Fazbee, 20/1 Saucy Brown, 50/1 It Must Be Love,

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: War Native's temperament seemed to get the better of him last backend, while Border Patrol apparently needs rain if he's to run. Consequently, EXCEPTIONAL ART (nap), who was taken to France for a Group 1 after easily winning his maiden last summer, looks the one to be on.[GW]

7 runner race down to 5, and must be of interest if still 3 the place Border patrol a non runner should leave Exceptional art with an exceptional place only opportunity 1.25 to place - very illiquid market -

800 HEX
BETTING FORECAST: 4/11 Naiad Du Misselot, 4/1 Sotovik, 6/1 Harry Flashman, 16/1 Stainley, 66/1 Sierra Victor, 100/1 Paperchaser, Spivitus, 200/1 Overlaw.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: NAIAD DU MISSELOT has run five times over fences without success but connections will be disappointed if he is beaten in this company. Sotovik and Harry Flashman can fight out the minor honours.

Only 3 horses under 50/1 !! Harry Flashman is the move into 7/2. Fav a bit wobbly price wise but should place if not falling- surely? 1.13 , 1.45 and 1.21 the front 3 to place

FOOTBALL
13:00 Slovan Bratislav vs Artmedia Bratislava 1/3 - home team record 11 wins, 1 draw, 1 loss at home - head to heads drew last time - local derby too could throw formbook ot the window
14:00 Blokhus FC vs Varde 1/5 - danish 2nd division west game
14:30 Bayern Munich vs Borussia M'gladbach 1/4 - 2-2 head to heads - have only won by 1-0 against bottom 3 home and away in 3 of 5 matches. Not lost against a bottom 3 side at home - recent home for - 2 defeats and 4 wins in last 6 - opponents have lost away from home against the top 8 in the league
15:00 Bury vs Accrington Stanley 1/3 - home form solid against opponents in Acc's area of the table.Won 4 ,drawn 1 of last 5 home games-acc have been beaten by the top 5 away from home- question is ,is this a pointless game? Do either team have anything to play for? Safely in play offs, I suppose bury do need the win to challenge for the league, so they are incenivised
15:00 Wycombe vs Notts County 4/11 - 2-0 head to heads - too many home draws for my liking for Wycombe -
15:00 Flora Tallinn vs Tammeka Tartu 1/20 - estonian league
15:00 Paide linnameeskond vs Levadia Tallinn 18/1 8/1 1/20
15:00 Legia Warsaw vs ŁKS Łódź 3/10 - poor recent home form wouldnt have me backing them
15:00 Dumbarton vs Elgin 2/9 - Elgin have lost 12 away from home-Elgin's away from has seen a win and 2 draws recently. Dumbarton usully win 2-0 in head to heads
16:45 Basel vs Sion 1/4 - 4-0 in head to heads -

RUGBY
17:30 Munster vs Leinster 1/4
Munser have had he upper hand over Leinster in their recent head to heads and this looks like another win for the reds here.

SHORTLIST
145 PUNCH - Serpentaria is 1.49 at the moment and with the way Walsh and mullins have performed on all shorties this festival, that 1.49 is a big price
155 THIRSK - now a 4 horse race and Herenow and Why is 1/4 to prevail with 2nd fav a non runner - 33/1 remains as does a 14/1 -BUT negaitves? - 2 year olds - novice stakes - 5 furlongs and 2 debutants who could be anything.
positives - 2 runs for the fav ,recent and both placed.1.1 to place
255 PUNCH - Mourad 1.19 to palce for the imperious Walsh/Mullins combo
340 THIRSK - Palacefield 1.2 to palce - ted Durcan onboard and only 4 under 20/1. Big field though
800 HEX - only 3 horses under 50/1. Surely the race revolves around these?Naiad is 1.13 to place - surely just needs to stay upright to collect here
MUNSTER - have had the strangleh
old over Leinster in all recent meetings - contains the majority of the Irish grand slam team and should be very hard to beat1.33 to wi and is tradeable

Basel in the footy are the only ones to appeal - 4-0 head to heads swing it their way

Shortie

ONE A DAY
Again too much choice for a single day and as I've said befoe, I run the risk of making the wrong decision.
Stand out looks to be Naiad de Misselot at 8pm with only 3 horses under 50/1 in the betting. 1.13 is reasonable
If you want to nail it early, Here Now and Why is crap odds at 1.1 in the 155 Thirsk, and faces , as a 1/3 shot, 4/1 , 14/1 and 20/1 shots. Hopefully the double figures can be discounted leaving a great probability race.
GAMBLERS - munster are an enticing 1.33 BUT this is a one off game and sometimes he form book gets thrown out.
mourad in the 255 Punchestown at 1.19 looks another good runner for Walsh and Mullins
