1 MAY

Everything mentioned yesterday except the selection placed. I chose Thomas Baines because it looked a transparent race and surely Jamie Spencer wouldn't have the audacity to pull the unplaced shortie trick he's so adept at - lesson learned!
What pissed me off was ignoring all of the other opportunities available yesterday in favour of that clown
Lesson learned and a poor end to April, but level stakes backers see a profit and a 40 strong winning run ending (if you took American Trilogy instead of Racer forever)

Yesterday, too, there were better opportunities and if you saw them then you should have followed your own opinions. For example, there was a 3 horse race yesterday which would have been better from a probability perspective.

340 STHL
BETTING FORECAST: 8/11 Masked Dance, 10/1 Cariad Coch, Chifah, Pong Ping, 12/1 Val´s Princess, 14/1 Koo And The Gang, Lucky Mellor, Midnight Uno, 16/1 Miss Marani, 25/1 Magneto, 33/1 Usquaebach.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: MASKED DANCE isn't ideally drawn but he shaped with promise on his debut and with this surface unlikely to be a problem, he can get off the mark at the second attempt.[PSm]

Big price gapper - I can't get live prices up on RP site at the moment PRice gap remains on oddschecker.ential negatives

415 STHL
BETTING FORECAST: 11/10 Paddy Rielly, 6/1 Art Exhibition, World Of Choice, 8/1 Wizard Looking, 10/1 Gayanula, Greenbelt, 16/1 Sporting Gesture, 25/1 Impeccable Guest.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: Art Exhibition makes some appeal on his first run for his new stable but PADDY RIELLY (nap) escapes a penalty for his recent C&D win and will be 7lb higher in future handicaps.[PSm]

PRice gapper in a 0-65 class 6 handicap and they tend to keep placing if not winning

530 PUNCH
BETTING FORECAST: 2/1 Quevega, 9/4 Punjabi, 7/2 Solwhit, 7/1 Muirhead, 12/1 Sizing Europe, 14/1 Jered, 20/1 Won In The Dark, 25/1 Hardy Eustace, 50/1 Ebaziyan.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: QUEVEGA provided one of the highlights at Cheltenham with the ease of her win. She has had a very light campaign and may have the resources to deny the reigning champion Punjabi and the progressive Solwhit.

A 4 horse race? Quevaga was Willie Mullins dark horse and pesoal selection of his best at Cheltenham and he was proved right.

605 PUNCH
BETTING FORECAST: 4/6 Mikael D´Haguenet, 100/30 Cousin Vinny, 8/1 China Rock, 10/1 Bouggler, 12/1 Roberto Goldback, 14/1 Trenchant, 25/1 Oscar Dan Dan, 33/1 Western Charmer.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: Willie Mullins has a strong hand in this, with two runners who represent differing styles. At this trip MIKAEL D'HAGUENET, who has been consistently impressive through the season, should have too much fire-power for stablemate Cousin Vinny. (AS)
Front 2 seek to dominate?

BETTING FORECAST: 1/3 Five Dream, 11/2 Winsley Hill, 7/1 Ouragan Lagrange, 10/1 Nous Voila, 50/1 Drombeg Pride, 66/1 Converti.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: FIVE DREAM has been found a very weak race for his chasing debut and, if jumping proficiently, is likely to win easily, even if slower ground suits in an ideal world. With current form an issue for both Ouragan Lagrange and chasing newcomer Winsley Hill, it could be left to Nous Voila to claim second. [MCu]

Beginners chase but priced to win

BETTING FORECAST: 10/11 Heir To Be, 3/1 Isle De Maurice, 11/2 Stance, 9/1 Redemption, 11/1 Unoitmakessense, 20/1 Code, 28/1 Silistra, 50/1 Captivate, Light Entertainer.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: HEIR TO BE (nap) is readily preferred, as his latest Southwell defeat is easy to excuse and he is very much the one to beat judged on the good spell that saw him win three of his previous four starts. Some rain wouldn't go amiss for him but that point probably applies even more to his biggest danger, Isle de Maurice. [MCu]

4 at 20/1 or over can hopefully be discounted.
