15/5

Dar Re mi placed, The Hermitage placed, McEvoy placed but personally I opted for Helingsborg in the end having done a quick google search on their opponents who where a low league Swedish team. Helsingsborg scraped through 7-0, a little more straight forward than the Man Utd game!
The Betfair Forum, too, was helpful in pointing me in the right direction re Gunnilse and that is what really swung it
Great day all in all analysis wise. I called it all right despite absences and 2 the place races and hunter chases.
Again Crowded House had a case of he Rainbow Views and was coming off he back of a layoff in a competitive field full of danger so it was good to swerve that one!

Again you saw he value of "he later the better" with looking and deciding -today's racing begins at 120pm so I will start now (11pm) and perhaps come back to it if I cannot find a nailed on selection

140 YORK
BETTING FORECAST: 13/8 Misheer, 11/2 Diamond Laura, 6/1 Azif, 7/1 Dispol Keasha, 9/1 Leleyf, 12/1 Eternal Instinct, 14/1 Aalsmeer, 16/1 Little Scotland, Mrs Boss, 50/1 Art Jewel, Chicita Banana, Goodbye Earl.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: The first Listed event for juveniles this season. Azif's Windsor win over Diamond Laura reads very well and there should not be much between the pair again, but if there is one in the line-up with star quality it is probably the runaway Yarmouth debut scorer MISHEER and she looks the one to beat. Softening ground would be an unknown factor for all of the runners, though there was some give underfoot when Azif won her maiden and she would make each-way appeal in the circumstances.[FC]

Price gapper here BUT a listed 2 year old event over 5 furlongs - LISTED=good horses throughout
Yet again, another one time out only favourite, who, as a 2 year old, is expected to replicate a sole previous run

400 NEWBURY
BETTING FORECAST: 9/2 Brunston, 5/1 Alanbrooke, 6/1 Solar Graphite, 7/1 El Bravo, Simon Gray, 9/1 Supernoverre, 10/1 Decorum, 12/1 Sixties Swinger, 14/1 Peter Grimes, 16/1 Ultimate, 20/1 Divinatore, Gulf President, 33/1 Hilbre Point.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: He has not raced this term, whereas the likes of Simon Gray, Brunston and Solar Graphite have already demonstrated their potential in 2009, but the very well-bred ALANBROOKE (nap) is very eyecatching, looking exactly the type to produce major improvement this term stepping up in trip, and it would be no surprise if this Group 2 Royal Ascot entry proves much better than his opening handicap mark of 78.[RA]

Alanbrooke now 7/4 -the move was significant yesterday with Danies Boy in a similar handicap. Alanbrooke has not run since October 2008

630 AINTREE
BETTING FORECAST: 4/9 Thumbs Up, 9/2 Shiwawa, 13/2 Coin Of The Realm, 14/1 Thoroughly Red, 18/1 Rain Stops Play, 25/1 Miss Toozy Betsy, 33/1 Sheer Magnetism, 50/1 Snark, 100/1 Cabbyl Doo.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: The 4yo THUMBS UP did the job in really good style in a similar race at Bangor last time, sets a clear standard on that form and should be hard to beat. The main danger is Shiwawa, whose hurdle career hasn't taken off yet but was a classy triple bumper winner on quick ground. [
Yes it's taken til 630pm to find the next bet - huge number of races with the fav 4/1, 5/1 or 6/1 and other races where the favvs are returning from long absences in competitive fields

Here we have 3 horses only sub 20/1

645 NEWCASTLE
BETTING FORECAST: 2/1 Sana Abel, 3/1 Leceile, Stanstill, 10/1 Drop The Hammer, Noor Al Bahar, 12/1 Sanctuary, 16/1 Gwyre, 25/1 Red China Blues, 33/1 The Quiet Genius, 50/1 Kendalewood, 100/1 Indigo Belle.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: It's hard to get away from the well-bred SANA ABEL, who made such a promising introduction at Yarmouth last month and will relish this greater emphasis on stamina. Leceile and Stanstill won't make it easy, though.[BDO]

Only 3 under 16/1 in the live market and the fav a possible "hard to beat" selection
Middle distance maiden the negative

730 HAMILTON
BETTING FORECAST: 15/8 Stately Home, 5/2 Popmurphy, 11/2 Emirates Champion, 13/2 Parthenon, 7/1 Bothy, 9/1 Holberg.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: STATELY HOME, whose stable strengthened their Derby hand even further in the Dante yesterday, has entries in all the top races and looks set to leave behind the form of his maiden-race win but his credentials will be given a searching examination by this talented bunch, best of whom looks the well-regarded and highly progressive Popmurphy.[PJ]

Ballydoyle fav at head of market in what could be a 2 horse race as Popmurphy has good credentials

805 HAM
BETTING FORECAST: 8/11 Dubai Echo, 5/2 Matraash, 10/1 High Severa, 12/1 Black River Falls, 14/1 Hillview Boy, 16/1 Par Avion, 25/1 Baligha, 50/1 Sydney Cove, 66/1 Quick Gourmet, 100/1 Bumble Rose, 200/1 Moscow Ali.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: DUBAI ECHO (nap), runner-up at Windsor last month and from a stable who have won this twice in the last four years, can go one better at the expense of Matraash and High Severa.[PJ]

Only 2 under 10/1 in this maiden race

925 DUNDALK
BETTING FORECAST: 1/2 Rockhampton, 11/4 Space Telescope, 9/2 Walk Beside Me, 16/1 Billys Dream.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: ROCKHAMPTON steps up to this trip for the first time and in what is likely to be a tactical affair will take all the beating. He broke his duck when winning a maiden at Leopardstown in late March, a race that worked out well with the best of the subsequent winners coming out of it being Gowran Classic Trial winner Alaivan. He stepped up on that by finishing a close third in the valuable Newmarket race won by Nehaam, form franked by runner up Monitor Closely running quite well in the 2,000 Guineas and very well in the Dante Stakes at York yesterday. He should appreciate this trip and sets the standard.\n

Ballydoyle fav in a 3 horse race (discounting the 25/1 outsider) battling for 2 places - must have a great place chance?

All of the qualifiers I am interested in appear in the evening meetings - I am dismissing the 2 afternoon ones as the first is coming back after 6 months in a listed 2 year old 5 furlong race, and the 2nd is coming back after 6 months and backed (seemingly) for a usually competitive handicap

So there is no real rush in getting the blog done today. I will return about 1245pm and look again at the cards incase a late non runner produces a probability race.

All Matches
Lech Poznan have drawn their last 3 home games. Lech Poznan are undefeated in their last 14 games. Lech Poznan have not won in their last 3 home games. Lech Poznan are undefeated in their last 8 home games.
Lechia Gdansk have gone 3 games without a draw.

The away side have lost 3 and drawn 1 of their last 4.
The home side's habit of drawing at home is slightly worrying but do we have, today, an opportunity for this sequence to be broken against the right level of opposition?
19:45 Sporting Fingal vs Athlone Town 1/4 7/2 17/2

These Irish games can be tricky to call because the standard of football is very poor in this league so is one to leave alone
