6/4

Barcelona looks very obvious indeed and surely Shaktar will not be " doing a Super Cup" on Barcelona this time. The Champions League is far more important than the Mickey Mouse Super Cup. As this is the Champions League and surprises await at every corner , over 1.5 goals looks safer than a straight back of Barca, and is the same price.
Celtic must win and perhaps we should take advantage when the Old Firm come to this part of the season. Hibs recent form is against other than the Old Firm so must be looked at with that in mind.
Horse racing wise, Greenflash looks very good as a probability place only bet. 7 runners, 3 places, 3 under 20/1 but we pay the price with the obvious nature of the bet with a 1.11 place only quote. Uncle Dermot has 2 2nd places so far and perhaps, as another under 20/1 in the betting, he can offer us a value place only alternative, albeit at 1.21

***** ONE A DAY - 745pm - Barcelona v Shakhtar - 1.22 home - back OVER 1.5 GOALS AT 1.22.*****
I do hope the surprises are gone and this is not a 0-0 or 1-0! Over 1.5 goals covers any Shakthar surprises.

Rangers won and I personally covered the 0-0 just incase. It meant the bet was the equivalent of around a 1.42 bet for me.

2pm - FC Timisoara v Astra Ploiesti - 1.44 home - around 26th Feb the date when the league returned - matches prior to this date are largely friendlies and so form is not that strong an indicator.
WWWWD for Timi since the return is solid form.
Timi are top and playing 9th and so expected to prevail at home. 2 draws and a Timi 3-1 away win in the last 3 league meetings 2009 and 2010 might signal a tight game.
WDDDW for Astra since their return - those draws rear their ugly head again.
Not much else to go on I'm afraid.

2pm - Lokomotiv Plovdiv v Pirin Blagoevg - 1.14 home - Bulgarian Cup and 2 teams from the same division. As above the league only recently restarted end of February. DWLD for Plovdiv and LLLDW for Pirin. Interestingly these 2 met in what is being described as a friendly on 24th March won 5-2 by Plovdiv. The 1.14 signals a repeat today. Remember Sub 1.2 should equal goals.

5pm - Dinamo Zagreb v Slaven Belupo - 1.27 home -Croatian Cup and again teams who have returned to business on 26th Feb or thereabouts.
WDWWW for Zagreb and LDLDW for Belupo. of these 10 matches between the 2 recently, the scorelines make interesting reading - 4 1-0's , 2 0-0's , a 1-1, a 2-0 and a 2-1 = a lot of tight scorelines.
Indeed, 2 of the last 3 2010 head to heads have been 0-1, and 0-0 with 0-2 Dinamo away win sandwiched between.
Could be an unpredictable afternoon. Slaven won their last match 4-0 against opponents Dinamo only beat 1-0. Do Dinamo look layable early doors in this match in the hope it is as tight as has been historically.
Remember though that Cup matches can be tricky affairs.

745pm - Barcelona v Shakhtar - 1.22 home - after last night, what more waits instore for us in this unpredictable Champions League. At least here the odds look spot on if Barca play as they have done all season. Up and coming youngster Messi could fill his boots.
Head to heads are very interesting indeed - 2-3 and 0-0 when these 2 have met , and I bet that Barca were similarly priced in 2008 and 2009. The latter was 0-0 in the Super Cup .
Racing Post hints at a win to nil, but do we discount the fact Shaktar got a goal against arsenal ( admittedly they lost 5-1) Neutral goals bet perhaps this evening? Over 1.5 goals could oblige? The unpredictability of one off high stakes matches can produce shocks so do note that.

745pm - Celtic v Hibernian - 1.28 home - it looks as if this game is postponed or abandoned. I cannot find it on the Futbol24 website. It is on other scores websites and the Celtic site itself mentions nothing of postponements.
HEAD TO HEADS - Celtic have won the last 4 head to heads, scoring 3-2-3 in the last 3. Last 3 home head to heads - 1-2 loss, 3-2 win, 2-1 win.
1st v 9th - the yoyo at the top continues after Rangers' win yesterday. Celtic are now in the driving seat with a game in hand and only a point behind. Hibs, like St Johnstone, seem to be in a safish place with the bottom 2 well adrift.
CELTIC RECENT HOME FORM - DDDWWWWWW - sole defeat at home cam against guess who? -Rangers!
CELTIC RECENT FORM OVERALL - WWWDWWWWWWLW - the loss was a pitiful display against Motherwell and Celtic can throw in the odd stinker which is a concern.
CELTIC GOAL TRENDS - 60% of home matches have seen clean sheets. Celtic have scored in all home matches this season, averaging 2.6 goals per match.
Celtic have not conceded in their last 6 home matches and if they don't concede, they should win.
After 4 over 2.5 goals games on the trot, the last 2 matches have been 2-0's, a defeat and a win, so conceivably could have been successful trades.
Celtic have kept a clean sheet in 6 of their last 8 matches. HAve already beaten Hibs 2-1 this season at home.
STREAKS - 10 at home without defeat, 6 without a draw - 6 match winning streak at home.

HIBS RECENT AWAY FORM - LLLLLWWD - the WWD comes in a very good period for Hibs as you will see below. against Old Firm, beat Rangers 3-0 away and lost 2-1 to Celtic away. WWD were against 8th, 11th and 12th
HIBS RECENT FORM OVERALL - LLLLWWWWWDD - while always remembering that the Old Firm are separate from the rest, this is some solid recent form for Hibs ( remiscent of solid recent form for St Johnstone who lost to Rangers last night)
It is important to remember though that Hibs have lost 6 away to the top 7 sides and these wins recently are against poorer opponents.
GOAL TRENDS - 53% over 2.5 goals away. Failed to score in 40% of away matches.
Have scored in all of their last 7 matches.Matches against Old Firm home and away have had 2,3,3,3, goals in them in total
STREAKS - 3 away without defeat , 7 overall without defeat.

Again, we have a lesser team putting together a good run, but facing the Old Firm this evening and they are an entirely different proposition. Goals might be an option, over 1.5 goals ? 2,3,3,3 scored in matches with Old Firm.

745pm - Chelsea v Man Utd - 2.22 home - historically these matches tend to be tight, but hey this is the Champions League where Schalke score 5 against Inter Milan!!!
5 of the last 6 clashes have been over 2.5 goals but it was 1-1 in the Champions League in 2008. I haven't got a clue about this match given the competition it is in. All I can say is that Chelsea have a solid defence and will not want a goal conceded.
Looking at ideals, a 1-0 for either team is perfect.
The 0-0 suits Chelsea who will then only need one goal at Old Trafford
From the Racing Post, Man Utd have lost only one away match in the last 4 years which is some stat. So a 0-0 could be on the cards but then an over 2.5 goals could be the call.

210 BEVERLEY

BETTING FORECAST: 6/4 Opus Maximus, 11/4 Dabbers Ridge, 7/1 Rowan Lodge, 8/1 Master Of Dance, 8/1 White Deer, 10/1 Avontuur, 14/1 Bajan Pride, 66/1 Bold Indian, 66/1 Kheskianto, 100/1 Tiger Hawk.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: OPUS MAXIMUS may no longer be able to be competitive off 83 in handicaps but another success at this level should be within his compass. Last year's winner Dabbers Ridge looks the one he has to beat, thoughRowan Lodge is always respected in this.[Paul Johnson]

This is a class 6 seller so really is poor fare. 4 horses only under 16/1 makes this very interesting though and the sight of Mark Johnston and Greg fairley at the head of the market is always worthy of consideration.

240 BEVERLEY

BETTING FORECAST: 11/8 One Kool Dude, 15/2 Red Tyke, 8/1 Always Ends Well, 8/1 Nellie Pickersgill, 10/1 Flying Pickets, 12/1 Headstight, 12/1 Just Dixie, 12/1 Lily´s Angel, 16/1 Bertie Dancing, 20/1 Mick Slates.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: ONE KOOL DUDE went under by a narrow margin in a similar race at Dundalk and, the only one with a run behind him, has bright prospects of going one better. The betting should give an idea of the threat posed by the nine newcomers, the pick of whom may be Red Tyke. [Frank Carter]

Dangerous races to get involved in without insider info. 2 year old maiden . All but the fav are debutants. One Kook Dude is 4/5 - - - - 7/1 in the live betting is a strong fav based on a close 2nd on debut and also Hanagan/Fahey partnership ( Hanagan Flat Jockey Champ last year largely due to partnership with Hanagan.

So leave alone or hope key experience counts here.

810 KEMPTON

BETTING FORECAST: 5/4 Seeking Magic, 7/1 Magic Of The Sea, 8/1 Endaxi Mana Mou, 8/1 Old English, 12/1 Brave Battle, 12/1 Homeboy, 12/1 Midnight Trader, 16/1 Exchange, 16/1 Fifth In Line, 20/1 Beautiful Lando.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: It will be disappointing if SEEKING MAGIC (nap) can't overcome this mark on his handicap debut and he is a confident selection. Midnight Trader could be the one for the forecast.[Andrew Mount]

A huge price gapper in the betting foercast and in the live betting market. This is, though, a class 5 0-70 handicap and Seeking Magic is a debutant.

Course and distance winner but 118 day absence.

300 LINGFIELD

BETTING FORECAST: 4/5 Greenflash, 3/1 Uncle Dermot, 8/1 Poyle Punch, 25/1 Lady Deanie, 25/1 Tsarina Louise, 50/1Ereka, 50/1 Excellence.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: Money for Poyle Punch or Casternova would look significant in a modest event, but

Casternova a significant non runner. 3 to be placed still in this 7 runner race with only 3 horses under 20/1 Surely Greenflash can put this experience to good use for Hannon/Hughes. As ever, all 2 year olds are, by nature, still learning.

SHORTLIST

745pm - Barcelona v Shakhtar - 1.22 home - 1.22 over 1.5 goals perhaps a safer option here which may cover any shocks? Same price as match odds. Watch out now for a 1-0 or a 0-0 in this typically difficult to decipher Champions League.

745pm - Celtic v Hibernian - 1.28 home - must win for Celtic and is that enough to have faith in them. 60% of home matches clean sheets for Celtic. 2,3,3,3 goals in the 4 matches when the Old Firm and Hibs have met this season. 1.19 over 1.5 goals covers both sides.

300 LINGFIELD - 7 runners and 3 places here and 3 under 20/1 -there were 2 debutants -one is a non runner, and the other is still in the race. Greenflash looks excellent to place today at 1.11 though. A great probability chance of success.
