10/4

Like yesterday an embarrassment of riches here and have to make the right choice. What really appeals?
PSV for me standout of the 3 main Dutch league title contenders this afternoon. It all points to a comfortable home win.
Blackpool at home have scored and conceded in all matches this season and have conceded 3 goals against the top 4 they have played at their home ground. Over 2.5 goals must have some leverage this afternoon surely ? ( over 1.5 goals safer)
Famous Name at Leopardstown was superb last season and is a tempting 1.3 to win on seasonal return in a small field race.He won 4 of his races outside Group 1 company last season.
Over 1.5 goals in the Athletico Madrid v Sociedad match appeals at 1.22 and Rangers must beat Hamilton at Hamilton.

***** ONE A DAY 130pm - BLACKPOOL V ARSENAL -BACK OVER 1.5 GOALS AT 1.18****

Highly embarrassing day in picking the one fecking bet that does not come in. McCain/Maguire do nothing with Peddlars Cross yet win the National!! Totally frustrating in a day when there was an abundance of good bets. But horses are horses alas. Great analysis on Copenhagen, Siena, goals bets in West Brom match etc.

1245pm - Hamilton v Rangers - 1.29 away

HEAD TO HEADS – 1-0 Rangers away win , 1-0 Rangers home win, 1-2 Rangers away win, 4-0 Rangers home win. So dominant in head to heads

LEAGUE POSITION -12th v 2nd - or bottom v 2nd. Must win for Rangers to take them within 2 points of Celtic. Cannot slip up here at all after Celtic ground out a 1-0 home win.

HOME TEAM

HAMILTON RECENT HOME FORM – no wins at home – DLDDDLDLD – plenty of draws but remember we must separate the Old Firm form.1-1 draw with Celtic and 1-2 loss to Rangers at home ( and Hearts are 3rd so 0-2 loss to Hearts . They do not get hammered. Draws have been either 1-1’s or 0-0’s. I would suspect any losing score for Rangers backers would be 1-1 rather than 0-0.

HAMILTON RECENT FORM OVERALL – DDLLLLDLLLDL – same old pattern. Only 2 wins all season back on 28th August and 30th October, both 1-0 wins.

HAMILTON GOAL TRENDS – 40% over 2.5 goals at home . Hamilton have failed to score in 47% of their home matches. Concede an average 1.46 while scoring 0.6 at home.Overs/unders/overs/unders/overs in last 5 matches. Have only kept one clean sheet in last 14 matches. Have failed to score in 6 of the last 10 matches.

HAMILTON STREAKS – no win in 15 at home and 21 in total.

AWAY TEAM

RANGERS RECENT AWAY FORM – WDWLWLWW – a little inconsistent away but remember the only away losses have come against Celtic or Hearts. Have Beaten Hamilton 2-1 away already.

RANGERS RECENT FORM OVERALL – LWWLWWWLWWWLW – most recent loss would have been a trading success as Rangers were 2-0 up in their match against Dundee United. It is this match which has left Rangers trailing. It was expected to be an easy win, now they cannot afford another slip up.

RANGERS GOAL TRENDS – 64% over 2.5 goals away from home.Average 2.07 per match away from home.5 of the last 7 matches have been over 2.5 goals.Have kept clean sheets in 6 of the last 9 matches. The only matches Rangers have failed to score in recently were against Celtic and Hearts.

RANGERS STREAKS – 2 match winning streak away – 6 away matches without a draw – 14 without a draw in total.

CONCLUSION –must win for Rangers and Hamilton although with the latter winning only 2 matches all season, our focus must be on Rangers. This is unlikely to be a spanking and may involve a win by a single goal as happened against Rangers earlier in the season . A 1-1 cover might be suggested? Straight back of Rangers and hope they score first?

If Hamilton score first, expect an enhanced trade.

130pm - Ajax v Groningen - 1.38 home

HEAD TO HEADS – 1-0 Groningen Home win, 2-0 Ajax away win, 3-0 Ajax home win, 2-2 Groningen home draw.( Ajax were 2-0 up in that match)

LEAGUE POSITION – 3rd v 6th – and Ajax cannot be discounted from the title run in, only 5 points behind Twente.

HOME TEAM

AJAX RECENT HOME FORM – LDDWWWWW – 5 wins on the trot perfect for the run in.Have only played 3 of the top 5 at home, 0-0 v PSV, 0-1 loss to ADO and 4-0 win over AZ.

AJAX RECENT FORM OVERALL- WWLWWDWDWWLW – last 3 losses have all come away from home. – 3 wins in last 4 matches.

AJAX GOAL TRENDS – 50/50 overs /unders at home. Last 4 matches have been over 2.5 goals seeing Ajax score 4,3,2,3 –the last 5 goals scored by 5 different players.

Ajax have scored 29 goals at home and conceded only 7.

AJAX STREAKS – 5 match home winning streak – no defeat in 7 at home.

AWAY TEAM

GRONINGEN RECENT AWAY FORM – LLDWDLLW – inconsistent away form.4-2 loss to Twente, 1-1 draw with PSV and 1-1 draw with AZ is decent enough away form against the top 5.

GRONINGEN RECENT FORM OVERALL – DLWWDLLLLWW – recent wins against 11th and 2nd from bottom. Not that inspiring. Groningen have conceded 4,5,4,1,1,2 recently

GRONINGEN GOAL TRENDS – 57% over 2.5 goals away.Have kept only 1 clean sheet in last 11 matches.

GRONINGEN STREAKS – 3 away matches without a draw.

CONCLUSION – difficult to weigh up this match as these are 2 top 6 sides. Perhaps the form would tell us to side with and Ajax side clearly in form against A Groningen side losing 4 of their last 6. Ajax should not lose, but faith in them to score first for a back to lay trade?

130pm - Blackpool v Arsenal - 1.41 away

HEAD TO HEADS – 6-0 Arsenal home win .

LEAGUE POSITION – 17th v 2nd –a win takes Blackpool 15th. They could still do it if they hold on to their leads.

HOME TEAM -

BLACKPOOL RECENT HOME FORM – WLWLLLDWL – the wheels have come off alas.Against the top 4 at home, it’s 2-3 loss to Man Utd, 1-3 loss to Chelsea and 2-3 loss to Man City. See the pattern?
BLACKPOOL RECENT FORM OVERALL – LLWLLLLLDWLLDL – only 1 win in last 11 matches sees Blackpool in the mire.Have lost all 6 games they have played against top 4 home and away.

BLACKPOOL GOAL TRENDS – 93% of home matches over 2.5 goals Only failure was a 1-1 v aston Villa.Have scored and conceded in every home match this season. 12 of last 13 matches over 2.5 goals with the Villa match at 1-1 and a successful over 2.5 goal trade, the only exception.Concede a whopping 20 goals in the last quarter of an hour of matches.

5,3,5,4,8,2,4,4,4,4,3 the total goals in recent matches. Blackpool have conceded in all of their last 14 matches. Blackpool have only failed to score in away matches only.

BLACKPOOL STREAKS – 2 at home without a draw. Have conceded 3 against all top 4 teams at home. 4 matches in all without a win.

AWAY TEAM

ARSENAL RECENT AWAY FORM – WWWLDWWDD – only 2 losses away have come against 1st and 3rd in the league.Against bottom 7 sides away from home, Arsenal have won all bar a 2-2 draw with Wigan where they led 2-1 and gave Wigan an 81st minute own goal as the leveller. Arsenal have scored 2,3,4,3,2,2 against bottom 7 - 5 of the 6 matches were over 2.5 goals with the exception a 2-0 win.

ARSENAL RECENT FORM OVERALL – WDWDWWWDWWDDD – no loss since the 1-0 away at United in December 13th. 3 draws on the trot now include 2 0-0’s and have all but put the nail in the coffin for their Title hopes.

ARSENAL GOAL TRENDS – 64% over 2.5 goals – score an average 2.07 and concede an average 1.21 away from home away per match. Only 1 of Arsenal’s last 5 matches over 2.5 goals which is a slight surprise. BUT the last 4 Arsenal away matches have all been over 2.5 goals. Arsenal are consistent goalscorers throughout the 90 minutes and have conceded only 1 in the first quarter of an hour all season.

ARSENAL STREAKS – 5 away matches without defeat, 13 away matches in total.

CONCLUSION – oh Lordy! Another bottom v top clash. Surely we can rely on another home over 2.5 goal trade involving the Tangerines? Slight concern that only 1 of Arsenal’s last 5 matches has been over 2.5 goals and 2 of their last 3 matches have been 0-0’s against teams they were easily expected to beat ( Blackburn at home for instance)

But surely Blackpool at home is a different proposition? Adams and DJ Campbell return and face Van Persie and Fabregas and surely Blackpool can continue the over 2.5 goals trend despite Arsenal’s 2 0-0’s in 3 matches.

130pm - Twente v Roda JC - 1.44 home

HEAD TO HEADS – 4-2 Twente home win, 1-2 Twente away win, 2-0 Twente home win, 0-0 Roda home draw.

LEAGUE POSITION – 1st v 7th and with PSV and Ajax breathing down their necks, Twente must win to keep their 2 point lead in tact. A win for Roda puts them 6th ( dependent on what Groningen do)

HOME TEAM

TWENTE RECENT HOME FORM – WWLWWWWDWWW – great form at the right time from Twente. Only 1 defeat all season at home and 2-0 v PSV, 2-2 draw with Ajax, 3-2 win over ADO, 1-2 loss to AZ, 4-2 win over Groningen, and 4-0 win over Utrecht the home form against top 8 sides. Interestingly against 6th and 8th, Twente scored 4 goals ( Roda are 7th)

TWENTE RECENT FORM OVERALL – WWWDWDLWWWW – a draw and a loss recently were away from home. The other draw was a 1-1 v NEC

TWENTE GOAL TRENDS – Twente have scored 2 goals in each of their last 4 matches. Twente have kept a clean sheet in 3 of those 4 matches. Twente have only failed to score in 3 of last 28 matches, way back in September 2010 and earlier. 60% home matches over 2.5 goals. Score an average 2.2 and concede 0.8 at home.

47% clean sheets at home.. Have scored a massive 27 goals in the last ½ hour of matches.

TWENTE STREAKS – 3 match home winning streak – no defeat in 8 matches at home.No draw in 5 overall.

AWAY TEAM

RODA RECENT AWAY FORM – WLLLWDW – have lost 3-1 and 3-0 to 2 of the top 3 which is interesting, and have beaten 4th, 5th and 6th away from home.

RODA RECENT FORM OVERALL – LWLLDWDDLWW – most recent wins against 13th and bottom side.

RODA GOAL TRENDS – last 3 matches over 2.5 goals.have kept a clean sheet in 1 of last 9 matches. Interestingly Roda have only failed to score in 4 of 29 matches this season, and have scored in their last 7.80% of Roda’s away matches have been over 2.5 goals. They score 2 and concede 1.86 away on average.

RODA STREAKS – 3 away without defeat.

CONCLUSION – Twente could conceivably score 4 today if their performance against 6th and 8th is anything to go by. This ties in with Roda losing 3-0 and 3-1 to 2 of the top 3 they have played away. Of course it could all be a coincidence!! Interestingly Twente aand Roda have failed to score in only 7 of 58 matches they have played this season. Over 2.5 goals to trade perhaps anyone? The 0-0 draw last head to head might need to be factored in but I see a different animal when twente are at home.

330pm - PSV v Heerenveen - 1.32 home

HEAD TO HEADS – 2-3 PSV home loss, 1-0 PSV home win, 2-2 PSV AWAY DRAW, 1-3 PSV AWAY WIN. Most recent head to heads dominated by goalscoring from PSV The 2-2 draw saw PSV winning 1-0 and 2-1 .

LEAGUE POSITION – 2nd v 12th – in the 3rd of the triumvirate matches today, PSV must win to keep the tabs on Twente. Twente have, what looks on paper, a good chance of winning today, so PSV must follow suit to keep the gap down to 2 points.Heerenveen on 35 points seem to be safe.

HOME TEAM

PSV RECENT HOME FORM – LWWWWLWDW – only 2 losses at home all season have come relatively recently. Both were 1-0 and both against top 4 sides. Away from top 6, PSV have won the lot. Recent draw was 0-0 v 3rd placed Ajax.

PSV RECENT FORM OVERALL – WDWWWLWWDWDWL – most recent loss was to league leaders

PSV GOAL TRENDS – 67% over 2.5 goals at home. 7 of last 11 matches over 2.5 goals. 33% of home matches see clean sheets. Average a whopping 3 goals at home per match on average. Against 9th, 10th, 11th, 13th, 14th, 16th , and 17th, at home, PSV have scored 5, 3,4,10,6,4,3 so surely they can get something against 12th placed Heerenveen.

Have scored an amazing 48 goals in the 2nd half of matches.

PSV STREAKS – 3 without a defeat at home. 2 without conceding.

AWAY TEAM

HEERENVEEN RECENT AWAY FORM – DDLLWLDL – only 2 wins away all season have come against 11th and 16th. 0-0 away to Twente, 3-1 loss to Ajax and 3-1 loss to ADO should show what PSV should be capable of if averaging 3 goals per home match!!

HEERENVEEN RECENT FORM OVERALL – WWLLDWLLLDLL – 5 losses in last 6 and ideally should pose no threat to PSV .

HEERENVEEN GOAL TRENDS – 64% OF AWAY MATCHES OVER 2.5 GOALS. Concede an average 1.92 goals away from home.Last 2 matches have been over 2.5 goals. Heerenveen have conceded 2,4,1,1,4,3. The 4 and 3 were against 9th and 16th , so surely a motivated PSV should be capable of scoring here.

Heerenveen have conceded a massive 18 goals in the last quarter of an hour of matches.

HEERENVEEN STREAKS – no win in 3 away from home and 6 overall.

CONCLUSION – with an average of 3 goals at home per match , and against a side who have conceded 2,4,1,1,4,3, in their last 6 matches, surely PSV possess enough to get a comfortable goal laden home win under their belts? Remember the time of the year as well. This is a real must win for PSV.

4pm - Aston Villa v Newcastle - 1.81 home

HEAD TO HEADS 2009 and 2010 head to heads 1-0 Villa home win and 6-0 Newcastle home win. But note that we have a change of Manager at both clubs, and a hugely significant change in the personnel with Bent arriving and Carroll departing. This makes these head to heads largely redundant.

LEAGUE POSITION – 16th are playing 9th. 34 points against 39 points but an amazing gap in league positions. Points really mean prizes here . Villa are the more needy I suspect and a win will take them 14th. I think Newcastle on 39 points are safe from relegation but an additional 3 points will dot the i’s

HOME TEAM

VILLA RECENT HOME FORM – LWLLWDWL – inconsistent home form. 6 wins, 5 draws, 4 defeats at home this season.Against the top 11, have only lost to Arsenal and Spurs but scored 2 and 1 in those matches.

VILLA RECENT FORM OVERALL – LLDLDWWLDDWLLD – again inconsistent form and only 1 win in last 7 is a concern for Houllier.

VILLA GOAL TRENDS – Darren Bent a key figure now as shown against Everton last match where he scored 2 goals. 53% over 2.5 goals at home is inconclusive.33% clean sheets at home for Villa.6 of the last 8 matches have been over 2.5 goals. Villa have scored 2,1,4,2,1,2 in last 6 matches – an average of 2 per match. Villa have conceded 12 and 18 in the last quarter of an hour of matches in the first and second half respectively.

VILLA STREAKS – 2 matches at home without a draw, 3 matches overall without a win.

AWAY TEAM

NEWCASTLE RECENT AWAY FORM – LLLWDLDWL - inconsistent away form. Against the bottom 8 sides, though, Newcastle are unbeaten away from home. DDWWDW

NEWCASTLE RECENT FORM OVERALL - LWLLWWDDLDDWDLLW – more inconsistencies from the Geordies making them a difficult team to read.

NEWCASTLE GOAL TRENDS – 40% overs away from home. 33% of away matches clean sheets. And have failed to score in 33% of away matches. Can you see what a hotchpotch this Geordie team are statistically?

Last 3 matches have been over 2.5 goals.Have conceded in last 4 matches. Newcastle have only scored 12 matches away from home all season. Have failed to score in 4 of last 7 away matches.

NEWCASTLE STREAKS – 2 without a draw, 3 in total without a draw.

CONCLUSION - a messy match this one and quite simply a match I would choose to leave alone.

4pm - Marseille v Toulouse - 1.5 home

HEAD TO HEADS – 1-1, 1-1, 0-1 in the league in most recent head to heads Focus on unders or an early back of 0-0? The 1-0 Marseille win last time came with an 88th minute winner.

LEAGUE POSITION – 2nd v 12th and Marseille must win as they are 4 points behind Lille and they have a game in hand.

HOME TEAM

MARSEILLE RECENT HOME FORM – DWDDWWWLW – recent loss was 1-2 to top placed Lille.
MARSEILLE RECENT FORM OVERALL – DDDWDWWWWLWWW – 7 wins in last 8 perfect timing for a charge at the title. Have won the 7 matches they have played against 5th to 13th ( Toulouse are 12th) at home.

MARSEILLE GOAL TRENDS – 5 of the last 7 matches have been over 2.5 goals. Have kept a clean sheet in 2 of their last 3 matches. Have scored in all of their last 8 matches. Have kept a clean sheet in 36% of matches - 57% of home matches over 2.5 goals.

Have conceded only 12 goals in 14 home matches this season.

MARSEILLE STREAKS –won 7 of last 8 matches. No draw in 8 matches . No draw in 5 home matches.

AWAY TEAM

TOULOUSE RECENT AWAY FORM – LLWLLLLLW –most recent away wins were against 18th and 19th in the league .Have lost away to all of the top 6 ( remember Marseille are 2nd)2,3,2,2,1,2 conceded in those 6 matches.

TOULOUSE RECENT FORM OVERALL – LWLWLWLLLLWDL – 11 defeats and a 1-1 home draw v Lille against the top 7 home and away. Recent WD was against bottom sides.

TOULOUSE GOAL TRENDS – 50/50 overs/unders. 6 of last 8 matches under 2.5 goals. Have lost 2-0, 3-1, 2-0, 2-1 against top 5 sides away from home.Have only scored 10 goals in the first half all season.

TOULOUSE STREAKS – no draw in 11 away matches.

CONCLUSIONS – what importance do we put on the head to heads which make this a tight encounter? Form wise, it looks Marseille’s match to lose and 1.51 for a back to lay trade is interesting given toulouse’s away from against the top 7, and inability to beat the top 7 home and away. 7 wins in last 8 for Marseille should see them solid this afternoon and brimming with confidence. Toulouse have conceded 2 minimum against the top 5 teams they have played away from home.

430pm - Leverkusen v St Pauli - 1.23 home

HEAD TO HEADS -1-0 away win for Leverkusen

LEAGUE POSITION – 2nd v 2nd bottom. A win takes Leverkusen to 61 points and they can still threaten Dortmund. A win takes St Pauli out of the bottom 3.

HOME TEAM

LEVERKUSEN RECENT HOME FORM - WDLWWWW – good recent run. Only 3 defeats all season against 1st, 5th, and anomalously 18th ( bottom).Generally against bottom 9 at home, it’s 6 wins , a 2-2 draw with Werder Bremen and a 3-6loss to Mgladbach. All matches against bottom 9 at home have been over 2.5 goals and Leverkusen have scored 2,3 or 4 goals .

LEVERKUSEN RECENT FORM OVERALL – WWDLWWLWWDWWWW – 6 wins in last 7 matches ( 8 wins in last 10 matches) is excellent form with which to keep the pressure on Dortmund.

LEVERKUSEN GOAL TRENDS – 64% over 2.5 goals at home.Score 2 and concede 1.5 at home on average.Last 3 matches have been under 2.5 goals but 4 prior to these all over 2.5 goals. Have scored 2,4,3,2 in last 4 home matches.Leverkusen score first in 67% of matches, that’s 2 in 3. Have kept a clean sheet in last 4 matches. Have only failed to score in 3 matches all season.

LEVERKUSEN STREAKS - 4 match home winning streak – 5 at home without a draw, 7 overall without defeat.

AWAY TEAM

ST PAULI RECENT AWAY FORM – LLLLDWLLL – just going wrong at the wrong part of the season for St Pauli. They did look quite safe early on in 2011. Against the top 4 away, 2-0 loss to Dortmund, 1-0 win over hannover, and 3-0 away loss to Bayern.

ST PAULI RECENT FORM OVERALL – LLDDWWWLLLLL – 5 losses on the trot now spells danger. These losses were against.1st, 3rd, 6th, 15th, 14th which must make St pauli vulnerable against 2nd?

ST PAULI GOAL TRENDS – Last 3 matches have been over 2.5 goals.62% of away matches over 2.5 goals.Have conceded in all of last 5 matches. Have failed to score in 3 of their last 5 matches.

ST PAULI STREAKS – 5 match losing streak.3 match away losing streak. No draw in 8 matches.

CONCLUSION – we must always factor in the shock element when top play bottom and both sides need the points. Perhaps a neutral goals trade is the call here. On form Leverkusen should win scoring 2 or 3 goals but remember this is silly season.

HEAD TO HEADS – 1-1 Ast home, 1-1 Pana home, 0-1 Pana away, 0-0 Pana away. Typically greek I think is how we describe these scorelines.

LEAGUE POSITION – 2nd v 14th – oh man! Another top v bottom. Pana are 13 points behind Olympiakos so I think it may be curtains for them this season. A win takes Asteras out of the bottom 3 so I would argue that ASteras’ need is greater.

HOME TEAM

PANA RECENT HOME FORM – WWLWWWWDW – only 1 defeat at home was against 5th place Volos and a 1-0. Against bottom 4 sides at home, 2 1-1 draws and a 2-0 win over bottom.

PANA RECENT FORM OVERALL – WWWDWWWLDLWWL – recent losses were away to the bottom 2 sides so ample warning regarding 3rd from bottom at home today!!

PANA GOAL TRENDS – 43% overs at home. 29% of home matches have seen clean sheets.Only 2 of last 5 matches over 2.5 goals.
PANA STREAKS – 6 at home without defeat – 4 overall without a draw

AWAY TEAM

ASTERAS RECENT AWAY FORM – LDLDDWLL – 3 of 4 away wins have come against bottom 5 sides.Have not won against top 7 away from home with 3-0 loss Oly, 2-2 draw AEK, 1-0 loss POAK, 1-1 draw VOLOS, 1-0 loss Aris, 1-0 loss kavala

ASTERAS RECENT FORM OVERALL – LLLDDDLWLWLL – wins against 5th and bottom side.

ASTERAS GOAL TRENDS – as you would imagine, 21% over 2.5 goals away from home.Have scored 9 and conceded 11 away from home. 8 of last 10 matches under 2.5 goals. Away to 1st and 3rd , though , conceded 3 and 2.

ASTERAS STREAKS – no draw in 3 away – no draw in 6 away – no goal scored in 2 away

CONCLUSION – this could be a drab affair with under 2.5 goals looking likely , although Asteras’ 2 matches against top 3 were 3-0 loss and 2-2 draw. Back 0-0 initially in the hope of a prolonged early stalemate?

6pm - Atl Madrid v Sociedad - 1.57 home

HEAD TO HEADS only one real head to head of significance was a 4-2 away win for Madrid in November. It would seem that Sociedad are new to the La Liga top flight.

–LEAGUE POSITION - 8th v 14th

HOME TEAM

ATH MADRID RECENT HOME FORM – LWDWLLDWL – inconsistent – struggle at home against top 7 where they have lost 5, drawn 1 and won 1. Against 12th, 13th, 15th and 16th at home ( remember Sociedad are 14th) Ath have won 3-0, 4-0, 2-0, 2-0.

ATH MADRID RECENT FORM OVERALL – LLLLWDDWDLW – most recent loss 1-2 at home v real Madrid.

ATH MADRID GOAL TRENDS – last 4 matches all over 2.5 goals. 5 of last 6 matches over 2.5 goals. 7 of last 9 matches over 2.5 goals. 60% overs at home. Ath have kept a clean sheet in 47% of home matches – nearly 1 in 2!!.

Ath have conceded in 10 of their last 11 matches and have scored in all of their last 8 matches.

ATH MADRID STREAKS – no draw in 2 at home –interestingly the opponent scored first in 50% of matches so enhanced bettors take note.

AWAY TEAM

SOCIEDAD RECENT AWAY FORM – LLWLLLLL -pretty emphatic form there.Only 3 away wins against 13th , 15th and 19th. Have lost all away matches against top 12 sides conceding 5,4,2,4,2,2,2,3.

SOCIEDAD RECENT FORM OVERALL – LWLWLWWLDLLLL – all positive recent results at home. Last 3 wins were 2-1, 1-0, 1-0 against 20th, 12th and 9th.

SOCIEDAD GOAL TRENDS – 93% of away matches over 2.5 goals. Score 1.33 and concede 2.26 away on average. 3 of last 4 matches over 2.5 goals. Have conceded 34 goals away from home.

SOCIEDAD STREAKS – no draw in 14 away matches , current losing streak of 5 away from home 5 losses and a draw in last 6 matches overall.

CONCLUSION – looks all over a home win with goals to boot if the form is accurate. 93% over 2.5 goals for Sociedad away is compelling. Ath have not conceded against teams around Sociedad in the league, scoring 4,3,2,2.. No draw in 14 for Sociedad all points to a Madrid win.

215 LEOPARDSTOWN

BETTING FORECAST: 4/5 Raphael Santi, 3/1 Parish Hall, 8/1 Pacific Wave, 10/1 Requinto, 12/1 Shukhov, 16/1Exactness, 25/1 Nero Wolfe.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: RAPHAEL SANTI shaped quite nicely at the Curragh last weekend and is likely to prove difficult to beat at this longer trip. Parish Hall is his most interesting opponent and market support for him would be very significant. [Kevin Blake]

5 debutants here and Aiden O'Brien employs Ryan Moore today on Raphael Santi. Only 1 run and 2 places but a real eyecatcher of a jockey booking.

245 LEOPARDSTOWN

BETTING FORECAST: 2/7 Famous Name, 6/1 Barack, 8/1 Finicius, 16/1 Libano.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: It will be a major shock if FAMOUS NAME fails to get what promises to be another lucrative campaign off to a winning start. Barack makes most appeal for the forecast. [Kevin Blake]

A magnificent horse last season who posted 4 wins out of 4 outside of Group 1 company. Not run for 167 days so if fully tuned up will win under the excellent Pat Smullen for Dermot WEld.

345 LEOPARDSTOWN

BETTING FORECAST: 4/6 Recital, 5/1 Mawaakef, 7/1 Exodus, 8/1 Banimpire, 10/1 Adilapour, 12/1 Rich Tapestry, 20/1Regent Street.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: If RECITAL is to be considered an Epsom Derby contender, he will need to be winning this, but this is not a simple task by any means, with Mawaakef and the race-fit Adilapour likely to mount strong challenges. [Kevin Blake]

A big price gapper and Ryan Moore again onboard for Aiden O'Brien. Only 2 places so slight risks attached after 148 days' absence.

225 LUDLOW

BETTING FORECAST: 4/6 Pepe Simo, 2/1 Fahrisee, 10/1 Courella, 25/1 Bay Central.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: Hard to get away from PEPE SIMO (nap), who won't have to improve to beat main rivalFahrisee.[Richard Young]

2 horse race for 2 places?

405 LUDLOW

BETTING FORECAST: 4/7 Lifestyle, 11/2 Laterly, 7/1 Paddy Partridge, 8/1 Stevie Thunder, 16/1 Cast Of Stars, 25/1Tignello, 50/1 Echo Dancer, 50/1 Roxane Bruere.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: LIFESTYLE looks well worth another chance after failing to show her best behind a useful one at Sandown last time, though there are also excuses to be made for Laterly on his most recent start at Fakenham. He is capable of better.[Emily Weber]

Only 3 under 20/1 in the live betting market makes Laterly and Paddy Partridge good each way hopes.

210 WINCANTON

BETTING FORECAST: 6/4 Spanish Treasure, 16/1 Custer Of The West, 20/1 Great Kicker, 33/1 Absolution, 40/1 Sir Cool, 50/1 Fran´s Folly, 100/1 Little Fee, 100/1 Tenitemsplustoast.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: This looks to be between just the three hurdles winners, with SPANISH TREASURE and San Remo Bello bringing stronger form claims than the recent Stratford winner Hes Our Lad. The Turnell horse never figured seriously when recording his big rating at Cheltenham but this longer trip cements his claims.[Richard Austen]

Huge price gap in the betting forecast 2 under 12/1 in the live market and Spanish is 2/7

SHORTLIST

1245pm - Hamilton v Rangers - 1.29 away - all things being equal this should be an eventual win for Rangers. It may be tight.

130pm - Blackpool v Arsenal - 1.41 away - Arsenal are doing a great job of trying to win nothing this season but surely a faltering Blackpool will find life difficult. The routine over 2.5 goals is called for at blackpool? 1.18 over 1.5 goals and 1.57 over 2.5 goals. What do we make of Arsenal's 2 0-0's at home when they were expected to win ( in fact against Blackburn they were considerably shorter than 1.41)

130pm - Twente v Roda JC - 1.44 home - solid at home against a faltering Roda. The spectre of 0-0 from their last meeting, although that was at Roda. Roda away 80% over 2.5 goals an angle in? 1.22 over 1.5 goals

330pm - PSV v Heerenveen - 1.32 home - of the Triumvirate playing today, I fancy PSV strongest. 5 losses in last 6 for Heerenveen. Another 0-0 Spectre was Heerenveen's 0-0 away at Twente, but they have also lost 3-1 and 3-0 away to top 4.

4pm - Marseille v Toulouse - 1.5 home - looks a Marseille home win all day long if the form is accurate.

6pm - Atl Madrid v Sociedad - 1.57 home - 93% of Sociedad's away matches are over 2.5 goals. Madrid have gone over 2.5 goals in 7 of their last 9 matches.

No draw in 14 away for Sociedad - lay the draw? But with their away record , if they have not drawn in 14, why not take the chance on madrid? 1.22 over 1.5 goals , 1.7 over 2.5 goals.

245 LEOPARDSTOWN - always a risk with 100+ day absences but this Famous Name was superb out of Group 1 company last season and 1.3 to win might be worth risking. 1.09 to place.

405 LUDLOW - with Laterly now out, this leaves Lifestyle and Paddy PArtidge as the only 2 survivors originally under 20/1 Lifestyle is 1.08 to place and Paddy Partridge is 1.27 to place in a 7 runner race for 3 places.
