12/4

Celtic have done for me a couple of times away, but needs must here and a loss cannot be tolerated and should not occur against a St Johnstone team whose form does not scream out shock home win against Old Firm

6pm - St johnstone v celtic. back Celtic in the match odds at 1.35

Another venture into the horse racing markets and another failure when I made some good calls on the football. unseated rider a great frustration as this was an ideal probability race with a clear round of course.

6pm - St Johnstone v Celtic - 1.35 away

HEAD TO HEADS – clean sweep for Celtic in head to heads scoring 4,3,3,2 in the last 4 league matches.

LEAGUE POSITION – top v 9th and a 2 point lead over Rangers. Must win as will have played a game extra.

HOME TEAM

ST JOHNSTONE RECENT HOME FORM – WDWWDDDDL – recent loss against Rangers 0-2 could be telling.St Johnstone have lost 0-3, 0-2 and 0-2 against top 3 at home.

ST JOHNSTONE RECENT FORM OVERALL – WLWLDLDDDDLL – only wins at home against 6th and 12th in the league. Lost all 6 matches they have played against old Firm home and away.

ST JOHNSTONE GOAL TRENDS – 19% only overs at home. Against Old Firm , have not scored at home and conceded 3 and 2. Only 1 of last 16 matches over 2.5 goals.

50% clean sheets at home.Have failed to score in 62% of home matches. Have only scored 9 at home this season. St Johnstone have failed to score in 9 of their last 11 matches.

ST JOHNSTONE STREAKS – no win in 7 away, 9 in total, no goals scored in last 5 matches.

AWAY TEAM

CELTIC RECENT AWAY FORM – WWDWWWL – recent loss was away at Motherwell the week after Celtic thrashed Rangers. Only 1 draw was another lacklustre 1-1 against bottom Hamilton.

CELTIC RECENT FORM OVERALL – WWWWWWLWWW – rock solid for the run in.

CELTIC GOAL TRENDS – have kept cleansheets in 54% of away matches.Only one of last 4 over 2.5 goals, but 2 were 2-0 scorelines. Celtic have only conceded 8 goals away all season and bear in mind 2 of those were at Motherwell.

CELTIC STREAKS – 4 away matches without a draw, 10 in total without a draw.

CONCLUSION – a home team who have failed to score in 62% home matches, and at home to top 3 against a Celtic team who have kept 54% clean sheets away and conceded only 8 goals – St Johnstone have failed to score in 9 of their last 11 matches. Looks like an easy away win to nil for Celtic unless the pressure tells at this part of the season.

745pm - Leicester v C Palace - 1.55 home

HEAD TO HEADS – 2-0 Leicester home win. 1-0 Leicester away win . 3-2 Palace home win.Palace were 3-0 up.

LEAGUE POSITION – 9th v 21st. Palace on the brink of the bottom 3. Leicester could threaten the top 6 with a win.

HOME TEAM

LEICESTER RECENT HOME FORM – WDWWWWDLLW – recent losses against 2nd and 14th. 1-0 loss to 14th Against bottom 6 at home, 2-0 win, 5-1 win, 3-1 win, 1-0 win, 2-2 draw. We are not expecting Leicester to lose.

LEICESTER RECENT FORM OVERALL – WWWWWLDLLWLDW – wobbly patch in the middle there with losses against 1st, 2nd and 3rd so let’s put it in context there.

LEICESTER GOAL TRENDS – 4 of the last 5 matches over 2.5 goals. Have only kept 2 cleansheets in last 9 matches. Leicester have scored 2, 3, 0, 3,4 so generally in good heart.60% overs at home.

LEICESTER STREAKS – no draw in 3 matches.

AWAY TEAM

PALACE RECENT AWAY FORM – LDLLDLLLLL – not the best of away form with which to meet a top 10 team.Against top 10 away from home, 1-2 win over Norwich, 0-0 v Cardiff stand out ( 2nd and 3rd) but lost the rest of the matches conceding 2,3,3,2,3,3 – consistently conceding a certain number of goals away to top 10 they have played.,

PALACE RECENT FORM OVERALL – DDDWLWLDLWLDWL – inconsistent the word here -WLD in equal measure.

PALACE GOAL TRENDS – over 2.5 goals last 4 matches, have failed to score in 50% of away matches. 70% over 2.5 goals away from home. Have conceded 38 goals in the 2nd half. 7 out of 8 matches away to top 10 have been over 2.5 goals.

PALACE STREAKS – no win in 14 away matches – no draw in 5 away.

CONCLUSION – what to make of that Palace win lately in head to heads? Palace really are bad away from home though 60% overs at home and 70% overs away. Palace layable and given Palace have failed to score in 50% of away matches, it would be logical to assume that Leicester could score first?

745pm - Man Utd v Chelsea - 2.42 home - 0-0 for Man Utd and they go through. 0-1 for Chelsea and they draw. 0-2 for Chelsea and they go through. Even if Man Utd score 1, Chelsea still need 2 to go through. Likely to be another defensive display by Man Utd with Chelsea having to attack.
745pm - Millwall v Bristol City - 1.71 home

HEAD TO HEADS – 3-0 Millwall away win the only head to head of relevance.

LEAGUE POSITION – 7th v 15th - a win today will not break Millwall into the top 6 but will give them a chance in the future.Bristol City are one of those in limbo – safe from harm and will not threaten.

HOME TEAM

MILLWALL RECENT HOME FORM – WWWWWLDWDW – pretty solid at home.No draw at home against bottom 13 . Against teams immediately below Bristol City, Millwall have scored 2,2,3,2,1,3,3,0.

MILLWALL RECENT FORM OVERALL – LWLWDLLDLWWDWW – unbeaten in last 5 matches.

MILLWALL GOAL TRENDS – 3 of last 4 matches over 2.5 goals. Have kept clean sheets in 50% of home matches.Have kept clean sheets in 3 of the last 5 matches. Scored in all of last 5 matches.

Millwall start matches well, scoring 21 goals in the first half hour, conceding only 11 goals.S Morison is a key player at home for Millwall

MILLWALL STREAKS – no defeat in 4 at home. No defeat in 5 in all.

AWAY TEAM

BRISTOL CITY RECENT AWAY FORM –LDDLWLWWLL – recent away wins against 12th and 18th.Against top 10 away, 2-2 draw QPR, 3-1 loss Norwich, 3-2 loss Cardiff, 0-1 win Swansea, 4-1 loss Reading, 3-1 loss Leeds, 1-0 loss Forest, 2-1 loss Leicester, 2-0 Loss Hull. Generally lose.

BRISTOL CITY RECENT FORM OVERALL – LLWLLWWWWLWWL – no draw.

BRISTOL CITY GOAL TRENDS – over 2.5 goals in 6 of last 9 matches -2 of the exceptions were 2-0’s. 2 of the last 3 matches Bristol have kept a clean sheet. Have scored in all of last 9 matches. 60% overs away from home.

BRISTOL CITY STREAKS – 7 without a draw away from home, 13 in total.

CONCLUSION – Bristol look to be in good form but against top 10 generally lose. Millwall have scored 2,2,3,2,1,3,3,0. Against teams directly below Bristol City.

745PM - Scunthorpe v Reading - 1.81 AWAY

HEAD TO HEADS – 1-1 Reading home draw, 2-2 Scunthorpe home draw, 1-2 Scunthorpe away win but that was the first match of the season and a lot has changed since. Characterised by goals if not a dominant team ( although the sample is small)

LEAGUE POSITION – 3rd from bottom v 5th. A win still needed by Scunny but it will keep them in the bottom 3 for the time being. A win for Reading will put them level with Cardiff and Swansea albeit having played a game more.

HOME TEAM

SCUNNY RECENT HOME FORM – LLLDLWDWWLLW – recent losses at home against 9th and 23rd. A decent display in the interim. Against top 6 sides at home.

4-1 win over QPR ( last match and a shock result some would argue), 1-0 loss to Norwich, 2-4 loss to Cardiff, 1-0 win over Swansea. No dominant piece of form for us to grasp. Beating the league leaders so emphatically at home last match really makes things difficult as far as reading ( the verb not the team) this match goes.
SCUNNY RECENT FORM OVERALL – WLLWLLLLLW – no draw in 10.

SCUNNY GOAL TRENDS – 50/50 overall as regards overs . So it is a matter of meeting the right opponents as far as overs trade is concerned. 5 of the last 6 matches have been over 2.5 goals with the exception a 2-0 loss at Ipswich. 5,2,2,1,3,3,3,2,6,5, the number of goals scored in recent Scunny matches. They concede more than they score in quarter of an hour throughout the 90 minutes.

Have conceded 31 in the last half hour of matches.

Scunny failed to score in 4 of their last 5 matches until winning 4-1 over QPR.

Scunny have conceded in all of their last 6 matches.

SCUNNY STREAKS – no draw in 5 at home, and 10 overall.

AWAY TEAM

READING RECENT AWAY FORM – WDLWDLDDWWW – the last 3 losses away have come against top 4 sides. Interestingly 3-3, 1-1, 1-1 scorelines against bottom 4 away from home are all score draws which augurs well for a goals bet this evening.

READING RECENT FORM OVERALL – DDLLDDWDWWWWWW – solid form for that push to the playoffs and beyond. Only 5 losses away all season and 3 against top 5 so a relatively strong argument can be made against laying Scunny?

READING GOAL TRENDS – 6 of last 8 matches over 2.5 goals, one of the exceptions was a 2-0.Have only kept 2 clean sheets in the last 14 matches. Scored in 18 of last 20 matches. Another 50/50 really with overs meeting Scunny 50/50 with overs. 3,6,7,4,1,2,3,7 scored in Reading’s recent matches.

READING STREAKS – 6 match winning streak, 3 match away winning streak. 10 matches without defeat.

CONCLUSION – how do we weigh up the spanking Scunny gave QPR? Reading are the team with the momentum. Looking at the total goals these 2 sides’ recent matches have accumulated, a goals bet looks the obvious chance.

745pm - Shakhtar v Barcelona - 2.28 away - Shakhtar need to score 6 to nil to go through. Neutral goals bet perhaps?

230 FOLKSTONE

BETTING FORECAST: 8/13 Novabridge, 4/1 Magical Star, 14/1 Dangerous Illusion, 33/1 Veuveveuvevoom.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: A very weak seller and a good opportunity for NOVABRIDGE to start his 3yo campaign with a win. Arowana has run well below her BHA mark on both starts for her new yard and a bigger danger may be Magical Star.[Adrian Cook]

Fallon on the fav - 4 horses and 2 places but a seller.

430 FOLKSTONE

BETTING FORECAST: 4/11 Yair Hill, 8/1 Casternova, 12/1 Deerslayer, 14/1 Heavenly Pursuit, 14/1 Indian Wish, 16/1Storm Runner, 66/1 Trust Me Boy.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: These conditions should be ideal for YAIR HILL, whose brother Jedburgh was very smart on fast ground, and he has been found a weak maiden on his return.[Adrian Cook]

Huge price gapper here coming back from a long lay off in this maiden.

Only 2 places.

540 FOLKSTONE

BETTING FORECAST: 4/5 Ya Hafed, 2/1 Zain Al Boldan, 5/1 Crystal Sky.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: Classic entries suggest Zain Al Boldan is held in some regard but it was only a weak Brighton maiden she won last August and preference is for last week's clear-cut C&D winner YA HAFED.[Adrian Cook]

3 horses and 2 places.

515 TAUNTON

BETTING FORECAST: 1/5 Qozak, 5/1 Indian Pipe Dream, 20/1 Lansdowne Princess, 33/1 Cengiz.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: Barring accidents, QOZAK should win this very easily.[Chris Wilson]

Obvious shout here but we know about fallers.

545 TAUNTON

BETTING FORECAST: 10/11 Vertige Dore, 13/8 Paddy Partridge, 12/1 Campden Society, 12/1 Ogmore Junction, 16/1Be Kind, 33/1 Murdoch, 100/1 Maxi´s Dream.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: There shouldn't be much between VERTIGE DORE and Paddy Partridge but the Paul Nicholls-trained gelding arguably has more scope to improve.[Chris Wilson]

SHORTLIST

6pm - St Johnstone v Celtic - 1.35 away - if the Celtic that has played recently ,and not the Celtic who turned up against Motherwell, this should be a comfortable home win against a side safe from harm and finding it hard to score.

745pm - Leicester v C Palace - 1.55 home 1.28 over 1.5 goals a reasonable bet 60% overs at home for Leicester. 70% overs away for Palace.

745PM - Scunthorpe v Reading - 1.81 AWAY -

5,2,2,1,3,3,3,2,6,5, the number of goals scored in recent Scunny matches.

3,6,7,4,1,2,3,7 scored in Reading’s recent matches Surely we should expect goals. 1.26 over 1.5 goals.

430 FOLKSTONE - 1.44 win and 1.13 place for yair Hill. A slight risk with maidens returning from layoffs. Ted Durcan in the saddle is compelling.

540 FOLKSTONE - 3 horses and 2 places and a simple probability bet.

515 TAUNTON - Qozak's race with a clear round but as you saw yesterday clear rounds are not as easy to come by , especially over chase fences.
