9/4

The 2 16/1 hopefuls were just that as one was a non runner and the other swiftly returned to 33/1 and didn't qualify. Not a day for me to retire on my winnings - 1.34 for the palce Colorado Blue, and 1.9 (trade) under 2.5 goals in the Barca game. Laying Barca at 1.10 to qualify - perhaps a little optimistic but if Kuranyi could head a ball like Ronaldo, I'd have been laughing - still no damage done there whatsoever

It's the Masters today and Tiger is evens to win - in a game where we normally expect each way prices for market leaders ,this signifies the magnificent form of the Master at the Masters . I'm going to wade in with some golfers courtesy of the Racing Post's analysis of yesterday and the names that recurred were Refief Goosen, Fred Couples , Padraig Harrington (he uses Flora margerine to help his game apparently so the ads in Ireland keep telling me) and Ogilvy. I'll pile in each way at nice prices (around 25/1 or bigger for them all) with traditional bookies paying out for the first 5 places but suspect the Tiger A game will leave us all purring come Sunday -the contention with the selections is proven form at Augusta.

I'm not a tennis expert so am taking my cues from the RAcing Post and they have put up a decent argument re horses for courses at Augusta.

CARLISLE

BETTING FORECAST: 6/1 Fistral, 7/1 Diavoleria, Marufo, 8/1 Bijou Dan, 9/1 Breakwater House, Soul Angel, 10/1 Mini Minster, Sinatas, 12/1 Bamby, High Stand Lad, Twelve Paces, 14/1 Square Dealer, 16/1 Scuzme .

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: A competitive affair with a case to be made for all of the runners. No surprise if Sinatas bounces back, but the two to beat could be Fistral and DIAVOLERIA.[FC]

" a case can be made for all runners" - hmmm why not do a lucky dip on a bigger price and see what happens - Bamby for me each way for no reason apart from his price.

BETTING FORECAST: 6/4 Northern Tour, 7/4 Celtic Commitment, 11/2 Sorrel Ridge, Strictly Royal, 25/1 Soul Sista, 50/1 Miss Belle Eve .

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: The betting may be the best guide to the prospects of the newcomers, but NORTHERN TOUR ran well enough on his debut to suggest he can win a race like this and his experience is likely to give him an edge.[F

Celtic Commitment out - should this make Northern Tour's job a lot easier - the learly 8/11 - - - 11/2 price gap suggests so - BUT this is a 2 year old maiden over 5 furlongs and Northern Tour is short purely down to experience - no signs of a market mover (anyway with a short priced horse out the 16/1 system won't work)
I'll take a chance although I will be cursing myself if a 2 year old one run only shortie over 5 furlongs against debutants loses!

BETTING FORECAST: 13/8 Riverscape, 7/4 Pharaohs Queen, 100/30 Barring Decree, 14/1 Dark Camellia, 20/1 The Hoofer, 33/1 L´Orage, Valferno, 66/1 Dancing Ellie .

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: Amanda Perrett won this race back in 2003 (with the dam of The Hoofer, bizarrely) and she looks to have a good chance of doing so again with RIVERSCAPE. Her half-sister Intiquilla also won first time out last season and, with her stable among the winners, she can repeat the feat. The standard she sets is not insurmountable though, and Barring Decree and Pharaohs Queen are both obvious improvers assuming they handle conditions.[GN]

Dutching the first 3 on BEtfair leaves a break even on the front 2 and nice return on BArring Decree who is priced to be competitive

BETTING FORECAST: 11/8 Tampa Boy, 4/1 Psychiatrist, 5/1 Princess Flame, 6/1 Mole´s Chamber, 10/1 Just A Thought, 14/1 Fortification, 20/1 Cilla Black, Kilmeena Magic, 33/1 Storm Surge, 100/1 Quaystone Lady .

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: Psychiatrist showed improvement at Warwick last time, but TAMPA BOY (nap) sets a decent standard on his two runs at Hereford and the ground looks to be coming right for him.[AWJ]

Psychiatrist each way looks worthy of support -5 of the 10 horses are 25/1 or over leaving 5 (if horses run to their prices) to fight for the placings. So psychiatrist has 2 to beat to place?

BETTING FORECAST: 1/3 Theatre Girl, 6/1 Ouzbeck, Quillan Hill, 14/1 Pepito Collonges, 20/1 Sumdancer, 50/1 Debord, Fit To Drive, 100/1 Let Em Come, Missus Jones, Sparkys Reflection .

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: THEATRE GIRL may have come up short of expectations at Cheltenham but that form nevertheless stands out like a beacon at this level and it will be disappointing should she fail to resume winning ways.[AWJ]

Theatre Girl should win (like Sir HArry eh?) -Ouzbeck is out - does this leave QUillan Hill with a decent each way opportunity to react to any mistakes by the hot pot.
Feeling speculative? How about £10 on market leader and Quillan Hill ( huge payout on QUillan and £7.80 loss on Theatre Girl.) You can create a break even on Theatre Girl and £11.59 profit on Quillan Hill with a ratio of £10 and £3 at current prices 1.22 and 8.4.

Expensive Art is of interest with Jamie Spencer in the plate but the absence is worrying and with a long time to the start, I will see if the market reflects any confidence behind the horse - positive vibes from Spotlight

TIPPERARY
HEavy ground today and a concerted lay of the betting forecast favs may be worthy of following. 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 6th races all have short priced favourites and I will be surprised if they all oblige in the ground.

Ideal monitoring in running and taking advantage of any price rises in running will enable liability control

FOOTY

Getafe at home look capable of getting something from their encounter with Bayern Munich - I will back them at 9/4 (although there is an option to lay Bayern to cover the draw) . This is unlikely to be a goal fest, Getafe having tamed Barca at the Nou camp last weekend and I will chance an under 2.5 goal trade

Rangers awat to Sporting Lisbon who play in a league like Scotlands - 2/3 dominant teams in a poor quality opposition league.
Likely that Rangers will play a containing role tonight - they are actually in the driving seat with away goal rules applying. Again a nervy affair and under 2.5 goals trading for me with the likelihood of a tight early game
