24/4

A good day on the gee gee's bar the Mullins /Carberry pairing. Pity I went for the safer place only - yes Cabinet won by a neck but he still won! Another short priced multiple handicap winner bit the dust - I was worried with all the money coming for Killer Class but he got beat by 2 -nice short priced lay!
Barca showed their potential yesterday - Yaya Toure - superb - Deco - superb - Messi Superb - I went to a local hostelry to watch the match and had a fun bet laying BArcelona half time/full time and boy, WAS THAT FIRST HALF LONG! I thought I'd done my dough - it was a seige!
Game could easily have been over 2.5 goals had Ronaldo scored. Barca look to have the advantage here with no away goal conceded. Your heart says Man Utd, but logic dictates backing Barca to qualify given they need one goal and can allow Man Utd to score 1 and still progress.

345 BEVERLEY
BETTING FORECAST: 3/1 Rowan River, 5/1 Karmest, Lunar River, 11/2 Our Kes, 6/1 Prelude, 9/1 Stringsofmyheart, 10/1 Lady Valentino, 12/1 Lauro, 33/1 Grethel, 50/1 Mozayada .

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: Some potentially well treated fillies and mares but there have to be reservations about most of them. ROWAN RIVER may have the edge over Lunar River if the ground does not deteriorate.[FC]

3 outsiders and a move for Stringsofmyheart - 4/1 the fav indicates an open(ish) race so the Holland ridden horse each way

530
BETTING FORECAST: Evs Greyfriars Abbey, 9/4 Mighty Moon, 7/2 Rosbay, 14/1 Ursis .

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: Interesting to see how the market speaks about Mighty Moon on his debut for Richard Fahey but GREYFRIARS ABBEY looks the type to have plenty more to offer in middle-distance handicaps this year.[AC]

A 4 horse race - Ursis the perceived outsider - leaves just the 3.
I'm going to back the top 3 - current prices 2.36, 2.38 and 4.7 to stakes of £12, £10 and £10 leaving £3.50 losses on the front 2 and £15.20 profit on Rosbay

330 FONTWELL
BETTING FORECAST: 10/11 Lupanar, 9/2 Archduke Ferdinand, 5/1 Daltaban, 7/1 Inghwung, 14/1 Big Paddy, Pouilly, 20/1 Elliott, 25/1 Lysander´s Quest, Mustamad, 40/1 Derry City, West Ridge, 100/1 Welsh Guard, 200/1 Silver Terra, Touch Of Velvet .

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: Daltaban evidently has his quirks but will pop up one of these days on decent ground when the mood takes him but it should pay to stick with LUPANAR (nap), who is back at a more appropriate level after failing to make an impact behind Binocular at Aintree

Lupanar clearly looks the one to beat - current price 11/10 not quite resembling betting forecast price and this sometimes can indicate a lay. BUT I will not lay as he looks solid, but 2 miles 6 in a novices event is a long way. It would seem to concern 3 standouts from an each way perspective in Archduke, Dlataban and Inghwung.
Archduke each way for me in the hope he places at least - concern with absence but if he's tuned up ,could be competitive

GREAT LEIGHS

I avoided day 1 at the new track and obviously it bedded in well and horses seemed to run as the market suggested which was a good sign.

550
BETTING FORECAST: 4/1 Merlin´s Dancer, 9/2 Lord Of The Reins, New York Oscar, 5/1 Bookiesindex Boy, 6/1 Almaty Express, Misaro, 10/1 Smokin Beau .

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: With several front-runners in the line up, this looks like being run at a million miles an hour and that should set things up more for Lord Of The Reins than most. He is taking on much better rivals than usual, though, and marginal preference is for NEW YORK OSCAR who is back down to a decent mark and is happy tracking a strong pace.

All horses fall between 4/1 and 8/1 in the early prices - only 7 runners alas meaning just 2 the place. I will speculate on Smokin Beau only because the horse is the biggest priced - each way - I don't expect a return and will stake accordingly but with such a tight price market surely this is the logical choice?

BETTING FORECAST: 8/11 Lazy Darren, 5/1 Quicuyo, 7/1 Amazing King, Cool Operator, 10/1 Frank Crow, 33/1 Art Investor, 50/1 Luce Bay, 200/1 Jember Red, Steel Man, Tempo Sound .

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: LAZY DARREN has to be given the chance to prove that his latest Aintree display was no flash in the pan and is taken to beat some reasonable rivals.[JN]

Lazy Darren the fancy but this is a novices event and some interesting words " taken to beat some reasonable rivals" - 5 horses 33/1 or over leaving 5 - Amazing King each way in the hope he places at least

430
BETTING FORECAST: 1/2 Natiain, 10/1 Harlov, Tynedale, 12/1 Kausse De Thaix, 14/1 Be Upstanding, 20/1 Jacksonville, Uncle Neil, 50/1 Lost Property .

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: NATIAIN cannot be regarded as a certainty, given the questions over course and trip, but he stands out against some elderly rivals and should take this even if not at his best
1.54 to lay over 3 miles 7 furlongs in a hunter chase - got to be the bet hasn't it - would you abck the horse over such a specialist distance with 7 runners in opposition and amateur
riders. He should win comfortably of course and this is a bet to monitor -if he hits evens in running I'm out!

305 PUNCHESTOWN
BETTING FORECAST: 3/1 Garde Champetre, 5/1 A New Story, Wonderkid, 8/1 Freneys Well, Native Jack, 12/1 Killeaney, What Odds, 14/1 Ben Adam, Ivoire De Beaulieu, 16/1 Berkley, First Down Jets, Industrious, 20/1 Community Dan, 25/1 Chapeaux Bas, 33/1 Ardlea Star, Oh Jackie, 40/1 Waki Baki, 50/1 Misty´s Express, Tearaway Princess, 66/1 Anns Benefit, Pondhill Lad, The Mucky Pup, 100/1 Baginbun, Younowhat.

4 miles 2 furlongs can only mean one thing - Enda Bolger is going to win! But with which horse? Garde Champetre is the obvious one, Ben Adam is 14/1, and Freneys Well is 8/1. I'll back all 3 each way. This trainer specialises in these races - talk about a niche! Ben Adam is 34 on BEtfair - class! Probably best to lower stakes on him given his price - Garde is 3.2 and Freney is 8 so level stakes on those 2 and £2 on Ben Adam?

525
BETTING FORECAST: 3/1 Uimhiraceathair, 7/2 Pandorama, 8/1 Forty Foot, Lord Over, 10/1 Paddy The Ref, 12/1 Baily Rock, Cormackstown, Del Rio, Fosters Cross, 14/1 Clarinwood, Gardikos, 16/1 Fresh Air And Fun, Go Native, Musical Express, Piper´s Knowe, 20/1 Atmywitsend, Beneath The Radar, Kenlon, The Representative, 25/1 Guts For Garters, Lough Allen, Truly Rudy, Unforgettable, 33/1 Hollywood Glen, Silent Whisper,

A silly bet given the size of the field but uimhiraceathair and Pandorama for level stakes. If placing this bet at a bookies, bring along a secretary to fill out the betting slip!

SOUTHWELL

BETTING FORECAST: 11/8 Fire Up The Band, 3/1 Lethal, 9/2 Desert Dreamer, 6/1 Dickie Le Davoir, 12/1 Kenmore, 20/1 Hamaasy, 33/1 Kingsmaite, 66/1 Mary Dunsmore, Oren Ishi .

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: FIRE UP THE BAND has looked a class above his rivals in two recent claimers and this is another good opportunity for Dandy Nicholls' veteran. Lethal looks best of the rest.

No reason to desert Fire up the Band here - 1.4 for the place appeals more in a race of this type.
2.56 is reasonable enough for the win.

A change of tack from yesterday to more speculative and if I reach my targets early I will stop!

UEFA CUP tonight in the FOOTY and Rangers host Fiorentina with Bayern hosting Zenit St Petersburg

I will chance under 2.5 goals in the Rangers match - seems the manager has a specific playing style - is this a 2 legged affair? If so Rangers will NOT want to concede - my concern with Rangers is the fact they have a lot of games in a short space of time. The Italians do not seem to be that prolific infront of goal.

Bayern - I wouldn't back them with stolen money at all. They have been very disappointing and my favs, Getafe WAS ROBBED GUVNOR in the last round. 1.51 is eminently layable (if I can spell eminently!) but if 0-0 for an extended period we won't get much of a market move. Better I suppose to back Zenit at 8.2 as at least the price will shorten if 0-0 for a long period.

With Frank Ribery in the side Bayern always have a get out of jail card and he may be worth an interest to score- there is only a first goalscorer market on Betfair and it is not fully formed so I'll hold on and see if I can get 7's
