Friday 7 October 2011

7/10

1145am - Japan v Vietnam - 1.14 home - Japan v 'nam - an international friendly so should be put on the backburner in favour of matches which mean something. Japan are unbeaten in their last 11 matches in all competitions at home. Vietnam have lost 4 of their last 5 away matches against India, Kuwait, malaysia and Qatar. They beat Macau 1-7. They have only won 1 of last 7 away matches.

1230pm -
Singapore v Philippines - 1.26 home - another international friendly and we must prioritise competitive matches. 1-1 when they last met in 2010.

2pm -
Moldova U21 v Russia U21 - 1.27 away - Euro under 21 qualifier and obviously the logical choice here is Russia.3-1 and 0-3 wins for Russia in 2009 head to heads accurately reflect the odds.
WLWDLL - since 2010 for Moldova sees wins against Faroes and Andorra and a 1-1 draw with Latvia. 2011 sees 2-0 win for Portugal, and 4-3 loss to albania ( 4-2 really then a 90th minute Moldova goal putting a gloss on the scoreline.) All 6 goals conceded in 2011 have come in the 2nd half which might hint that Moldova are tough to beat but eventually run out of puff?
No draw in 15 home matches for Moldova. 9 of those 15 scorelines were 1-0 so this could compound the idea that Moldova are tight defensively?
WWWWWLLWL - all wins saw Moldova not concede. 3 losses in last 4 have seen Moldova NOT SCORE. So if Russia show defensive capabilities then this could be to their advantage.
9 of last 10 home matches under 2.5 goals.
Only 1 draw in last 29 matches for Russia did occur in 2nd last match ( 0-0 v Romania)
6 match winning run ended with a loss and a draw against Romania in 2010 - perhaps a bogey team?
2011 has seen a 0-2 away win v Poland.
No draw in all 18 away matches recorded at www.soccerstats.com for Russia.Russia have won 4 of last 5 away matches without conceding.Only loss recently v Romania who, as I say, seem to be a bogey team at this level.
Now we were looking for a good defensive record for Russia and this could be it.
CONCLUSIONS - what do you think? Lay the draw? It seems both sides fight to win, and the choice we have therefore is home or away win. The market points to away win. Watch out for a possible Moldova shut out in the first half and consequent goals in the 2nd half.
As you saw with Leichtenstein v Italy yesterday, reactive trading seems to pay. Leichtenstein 1-0 up and Italy down to 10 men saw this 1.05 shot backable at 1.55 and higher!
A tight game in prospect if the form is upheld.
345pm -
France U21 v Kazakhstan U21 - 1.11 home - no head to heads. Only 2 losses, both 0-1, since 2008 v Belgium and Germany, and Kazak's are nowhere near that level.
11 of last 12 wins for France at home achieved without conceding. Form is spread throughout the years so is difficult to evaluate. They have not played 2011 yet.Last 2 wins at home without conceding occured in last 3 matches.
Kazak's have not win in their last 9 matches ( a win against Bulgaria). Last 3 wins have come at home w Pland, Bulgaria and Georgia.
DDL in 2011 for the Kazaks - 0-0 away at Romania, 1-1 at home to Romania and 0-1 away to Slovakia.
Only 1 win in 16 away matches since 2004 was a 0-1 v Georgia.
Only 1 recent away match since 2009 was a 0-0 v Romania in 2011.
3-3-5 conceded away v Montenegro, bulgaria and Sweden so they can be vulnerable ( since 2009)
I cannot weigh up these teams comparative form to that of France. It is a case of faith in the odds here for 2 teams who have not met in head to heads.

7pm -
Denmark U21 v Faroe Islands U21 - 1.06 home - no recent head to heads and these odds reflect goals ( 1.05 10 man Italy scored 7 yesterday).
No draw in 11 for Denmark overall.LWLW in 2011 sees wins against Belarus and Northern Ireland and losses against Iceland and Swiss.
No draw in last 9 home matches.
4 of last 5 matches ( go back to 2007) were 1-0 scorelines.
Faroes at home are a completely differenct proposition to away.
3 2011 matches see a 0-0 home draw v Northern Ireland, a 4-0 loss away to Northern Ireland, and a 5-1 loss away to Serbia.
9 of last 12 away matches have been losses. Positive results? 2-2 away to the might of Azerbaijan, 0-1 away win over Latvia and 1-1 draw against superpowers Andorra.
again, my only trouble here is weighing up Denmark u21 as against Northern Ireland and Serbia - recent winners over Faroes. 1.06 and recent losses by 4 and 5 goals seems to entice us towards over 3.5, 4.5 or more goals.

5pm -
Malta U21 v Ukraine U21 - 1.34 away - 3 wins, 1 draw and 28 losses in last 32 matches for Malta.Wins against Iceland, Bosnia and Lithuania. 3-0 to Ukraine away in a recent 2010 head to head.
In 2011, away draw 0-0 v Finland, 1-2 away win v Lithuania, 1-4 home loss to Slovenia, and 1-2 home loss to Finland.
Malta have lost their last 7 matches at home. Although they have scored a single goal in each of last 2, prior to that they failed to score in 5 losses.
Conceding 4-2-1-2-3-4-2 in those 7 matches.
DDWLLDLL recently for Ukraine home and away.Losses to Netherlands, Czech, Spain and Slovenia. 0-0 draw home to england and win 1-3 away to netherlands. Is this simply a case of a group of matches against strong sides all at the same time or a sign of weakness?
Have lost their last 2 2011 matches 2-1 and 2-0 against Czechs and Slovenia.
This ended a 7 matches unbeaten run with 6 wins and a draw. Only 2 draws away since 2004.
Tough to weigh up. Are Ukraine vulnerable or have they just played a cluster of good sides?

515pm -
Finland v Sweden - 1.61 away - Sweden very backable at home so worth investigating their away form.
Recent wins for Finland have come against Kazakstan, Azerbaijan, San Marino ( twice) and Moldova in the Euros. A sorry bunch of teams to beat.Losses in the Euros since 2010 against Moldova, Netherlands ( twice), Hungary, and 5-0 away to Sweden in June 2011. Ibra scored a hatrick in that match so interesting to see if he plays this evening.
Wins against San Marino and Moldova at home, losses v Hungary and Netherlands.
No draw in the last 18 Euro matches for Sweden stretches back to Nov 2007.
No draw in 11 away Euro matches for Sweden since September 2006.Have beaten and lost to exactly the same 4 teams as Finland.
Last 10 matches over 1.5 goals.

PART 2

6pm -
Georgia U21 v Switzerland U21 - 1.48 away - WDWWLWLL in 2010 onwards Euro matches for Georgia.Last 2 losses cam against Spain so not unexpected. Recent wins against Croatia, Turkey and Armenia all away from home.
1 win in last 5 home matches for Georgia was against Estonia.Draws against Ireland, Swiss ( 0-0 2010), losses against Armenia and Spain.
7 of the last 8 wins for the Swiss have come at home.Sole away win was a 0-1 v Denmark.
WWWWLDW in 2011 Euro competitions - loss v Spain and Draw v Estonia.
6 clean sheets in 7 2011 matches for Swiss. Spanish the only side to score against them this year.
WWDWDDWD since 2009 away from home. This hints at a lay of Georgia to cover the draw unless we have faith in The swiss clean sheet count . 3 clean sheets in last 4 since 2010.
It seems that Swiss could score first? Perhaps a 0-0 cover?

6pm -
Latvia v Malta - 1.36 home
LLWD for latvia -win away v Georgia and 1-1 home draw with Greece. Losses v Israel twice ( 2-1).
Since 2010 at home, 0-3 loss to Croatia, 1-1 draws with Georgia and Greece and loss 1-2 v Israel. Seeking 1st win at home and this is as ideal an opportunity as any.Could go 4th with a win dependent on what Georgia do.
Malta have not won in their last 17 Euro matches. 11 match losing draw ended with a 1-1 home draw v Georgia.
An ideal opportunity for an admittedly poor Latvia to get a win, or at least open the scoring against MAlta.

730pm -
Cyprus v Denmark - 1.51 away - Portugal, Denmark and Norway dominate Group H all with 13 points. Danes seem to have an advantage over Norway and really must win this match as they face the Portugeuse next. Teams that need to win generally do.
Cyprus have not won in their last 9 matches and have not scored in their last 4 , a 2-0 away loss to Denmark, 0-0 home draw with Iceland, 0-4 home loss to Portugal and 1-0 away loss to Iceland.
LDL lately - losses 1-2 v Norway, 0-0 draw Iceland, 0-4 loss to Portugal the recent home form.
Cyprus have nothing to play for, Denmark have everything.
In 2011, it took a 35 minute penalty from Ronaldo to open the scoring, so perhaps Cyprus can frustrate before eventually succumbing.
730pm -
Netherlands v Moldova - 1.06 home - unbeaten since August/Sept 2008 ( off the top off my head v Australia), Netherlands have so much talent within the current squad. Netherlands are through so this could be an exercise is looking at the strength in depth of the squad. 8 match winning run since 2010 has seen 4 clean sheets in the last 4 wins. !st place not wrapped up yet and the worst Netherlands can finish is runner up.
Last 4 home matches, 2-1 v Finland, 4-1 v Sweden, 5-3 v Hungary, 11-0 v San Marino.
Moldova have not had a draw in their last 10. They have lost 7 of last 8, 0-1 v Netherlands at home, twice against Sweden, twice against Hungary and once against Finland.
The 0-1 was very unexpected against Netherlands.
LWLL in recent aways - win v San Marino, scored in all of these last 4 away matches.
The key for you this evening is to try and find details of the Dutch team. A first team should bring home the goals as per the 1.06 quote. A " strength in depth" side could negate goals trades.
1.06 ideally equates to 5+ goals ( take Italy u21 as a measure yesterday - they scored 7 with 10 men!!)

PART 3

730pm -
Romania v Belarus - 1.58 home
"Romania are four points behind Bosnia and Herzegovina with a slim chance of second place" - enough to ensure they give 100%?
Sept 2010 saw a 0-0.
Romania have beaten Luxembourg twice, and Bosnia and drawn 0-0 with France in 2011 as well as losing away to Bosnia.
They have kept a clean sheet against Lux, Bos, and France - their last 3 matches.
At home, Romania are unbeaten in their last 13 Euro matches, albeit stretching back to 2003.
DWWD since 2010, 1-1 draw with Albania, 3-1 and 3-0 wins against Luxembourg and Bosnia and 0-0 draw with France.
In 2011, Belarus have drawn with France, been beaten by Albania and Bosnia twice without scoring, and beat Luxembourg 2-0.
Away from home in 2010 onwards Belarus have been the Stoke of Eastern europe.

Ultra solid defensively in those 4 mathes could make life difficult for Romania this evening, but it could also signal Romania score first if there is to be a goal ( Belarus have not scored in their last 3 away matches. All goals scored here have come very late -86th, 62nd and 83rd minutes)
Add that to the 0-0 2010 scoreline and we have a potential tight tight match this evening . Back Romania with a 0-0 cover as they have home advantage and the greater need?
730pm - Turkey v Germany - 2.3 away - Germany are through, hence the price this evening. And remember the old maxim that teams who don't need to win, rarely do. IT has been proven time and time again. 2nd place is between Belgium and Turkey.
For what it's worth, Germany's last 8 matches have all been over 2.5 goals but I think the focus should be on Turkey.
• Only Belgium can now deny Turkey second place in the section, with top dogs Germany already qualified. Turkey will qualify with a match to spare if they get a better result against Germany than Belgium manage against Kazakhstan.
SInce 2010 it's WWLLWDWD for Turkey.
Losses against Germany and Azerbaijan were away from home.
Draws against Belgium an Austria were away.
One win 0-3 v Kazakstan was away for Turkey.
WWWWW in last 5 - since 2010 3-2 win over Belgium, 2-0 win over Austria, and 2-1 win over Kazakstan. Could go along with Germany's last 8 overs to signal a positive goals trend ( albeit Germany have nothing to play for)
So what's it to be? A team desparate for the win against a team with nothing to play for. Do we opt for a neutral goals bet, or leave alone as Germany are a team unmotivated here.
Guus Hiddink the Turkish manager is a good man to have on your side.

745pm -
Belgium v Kazakhstan - 1.14 home - the match that ties in with the above match sees a must win for Belgium in their fight with Turkey for 2nd spot.
Fri03/09/10EUCBelgium 0 - 1Germany

6 match unbeaten run but I am sure that score draw sequence would need to be ended if the Belgians are to gain 2nd spot and at 1.14 today, it is expected to end.Belgium have scored 4 goals twice in their last 3 home matches and again that augurs well for goals today for the 1.14 shots ( remember sub 1.2 = goals)
Fri03/09/10EUCBelgium 0 - 1Germany

Tue12/10/10EUCBelgium 4 - 4Austria

Tue29/03/11EUCBelgium 4 - 1Azerbaijan

Fri03/06/11EUCBelgium 1 - 1Turkey

Tight loss to Germany not wholly unexpected and draw with Turkey. Very lucky to beat Austria with 87th and 90th minute goals.
10 losses and 2 wins in last 12 for Kazaks. Wins against Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Fri03/09/10EUCKazakhstan 0 - 3Turkey

Fri02/09/11EUCTurkey 2 - 1Kazakhstan

Tue06/09/11EUCAzerbaijan 3 - 2Kazakhstan

KAzaks started the campaign by failing to score in 5 matches but have since scored in the remaining 3, in matches against Azer ( twice) and Turkey.
This might help the goals bet this evening, although Belgium did win 0-2 away earlier .
Tue07/09/10EUCAustria 2 - 0Kazakhstan

Sat26/03/11EUCGermany 4 - 0Kazakhstan

Fri02/09/11EUCTurkey 2 - 1Kazakhstan

Tue06/09/11EUCAzerbaijan 3 - 2Kazakhstan

Turkey lucky to win with a 90th minute goal and Kazaks well beaten by Azer ( 3-1 until a 78th minute Kazak goal put a gloss on the match). Last 3 over 2.5 goals and have conceded 2-4-2-3- so this augurs well for a
  • motivated Belgium fighting for 2nd place
  • already beaten Kazak 0-2
  • scored 4 in 2 of last 3 home matches
  • priced at 1.14 which signals goals.

745pm - Czech Republic v Spain - 1.85 away
Spain have secured first place yet are still odds on. Here's how UEFA see the remaining fight for 2nd
"As for second position, the Czech Republic are two points in front of Scotland with a superior head-to-head. Scotland thereby need to pick up three more points from their trips to Liechtenstein and Spain than the Czech Republic manage at home to the reigning champions and then in Lithuania."
Only 1 draw in last 14 for CZechs and the draw was last match 2-2 v Scotland and a 90th minute Czech equaliser.

March 2011 Spain 73rd minute penalty secured an uninspiring win.
CZechs have scored in last 5.
No draw in the Euros since 1994 at home for the Czechs is a compelling stat. It continued in 2010
Tue07/09/10EUCCzech Republic 0 - 1Lithuania

Fri08/10/10EUCCzech Republic 1 - 0Scotland

Tue29/03/11EUCCzech Republic 2 - 0Liechtenstein

Czechs failed to score in 2 of 3 at home.

So , like the Germany game, a look at the Spanish team - if it is a first team, then they will play well. What do we make of the Czechs inability to draw at home in this competition since records on soccerway began at 1994.

8pm -
France v Albania - 1.14 home - much more trustworthy betting propositions than under that Thunderbird puppet they used to have as manager.
France are a point ahead of Bosnia.

5 wins and 2 draws for France in last 7. HAve beaten Bosnia 0-2 away and this mirrors Belgium with their 0-2 away win against today's opponents and 1.14 quote.
Recent form does not signal the kind of goals you expect with a 1.14 shot.
No draw in 23 for France at home.

5 wins for France at home have all come without the concession of a goal.
France's losses saw them not score and with a 1.14 quote this evening, the signal is that France will score, and thus win, and we have the possibility of a win to nil.

8pm -
Montenegro v England - 1.72 away - Eng-er-land are better away than at home. We need to check what they need to do here. I think a draw will suffice.

Since 2010 England are unbeaten but far more impressive away from home as we will see. 5 clean sheets in 8 matches for England.
Group G
England have opened up a six-point lead over Montenegro, who have two games left to the leaders' one. That is in fact a trip to Montenegro on 7 October, when a draw will qualify England. If Montenegro win, they would finish first by beating Switzerland four days later. However, Montenegro are only three points ahead of Switzerland, who could be in strong contention for second place if they win in Wales four days before their concluding match.

A draw will suffice and it is unlikely to be a high scoring draw if MOntenegro's recent home form is anything to go by.

PART 4

8pm - Uruguay v Bolivia - 1.25 home -
14.10.2008 WCQL Bolivia 2-2 Uruguay
13.10.2007 WCQL Uruguay 5-0 Bolivia
No real relevant head to heads. A world cup qualifier eliminator? Uruguay have the famous forward line of Suarez and Forlan. Not much to go on as qualifying series is just beginning.

830pm - Andorra v Rep of Ireland - 1.11 away
Group B
The last set of September results have left four teams in contention. Russia held on to their two-point lead over the Republic of Ireland with a 0-0 Moscow draw while Armenia won 4-0 in Slovakia to move level with their hosts, a point behind Ireland. The 7 October fixtures take Russia to Slovakia and Ireland to Andorra, while Armenia welcome the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia knowing a win could leave them in second ahead of their closing trip to Dublin. 9pm -
Portugal v Iceland - 1.1 home
Group H
Denmark's home win against Norway pulled them level with both their neighbours and Portugal. Norway, however, only have one game left to their rivals' two and could not finish top in a three-way head-to-head. On 7 October Portugal welcome Iceland and Denmark visit Cyprus. However, the decider looks likely to be Portugal's trip to Denmark, the visitors having won their home game 3-1 should it go to head-to-head.

3 teams on 13 points and Portugal therefore must win this match they are expected to win.

Iceland failed to score in 6 of those matches. Only match they did not lose featured Cyprus 0-0 draw and 1-0 win.
1-3 last time they met, and 2 goals scored by Portugal in the first half.
Another must win to add to the list today. Want to see the big boys out - Nani, Postiga, Big Winker, etc.
00.10am - Argentina v Chile - 1.45 home - no recent head to heads. Not a match that appeals for me as an Argie backer. A watching brief, and a look at the teams nearer the off I think.
