10/01

ONE A DAY - Hamilton v Rangers - Back Rangers to win at 1.3. If you miss the kick off, then 745pm Paris St Germain to beat Aubervilliers in the Match Odds market at 1.18

A pity the Lille game was postponed.
Elsewhere, all of the shortlisters obliged.

120 SOUTHWELL
BETTING FORECAST: 6/4 Brazilian Brush, 3/1 Grand Palace, 9/2 Mr Funshine, 13/2 Best One, 17/2 Head To Head, 16/1 Tenancy, Truly Divine, 28/1 Lujiana, 33/1 Spring Bridge, 50/1 Take That.

DIOMED VERDICT: Slow conditions probably suited BRAZILIAN BRUSH better than his rivals here on Thursday but he was better class than this as a 3yo and blinkers evidently did the trick. He can see off main rival Grand Palace.

The only venue on the card sees, in the betting forecast, only 5 horses under 16/1. But in the live market, there is quite a move for Truly Divine into 8/1

A class 6 0-55 handicap is low class affair and usually price gappers place. Brazilian Bush won by 10 lengths latest

320 SOUTHWELL
BETTING FORECAST: 11/4 Outer Hebrides, 100/30 Kinigi, 11/2 Golden Dixie, 13/2 Spoof Master, 15/2 Zeffirelli, 17/2 Cheery Cat, 10/1 Cheshire Rose, Mintoe, 50/1 Mickys Mate.

DIOMED VERDICT: A decent opportunity for OUTER HEBRIDES to regain the winning thread back at the scene of his good third in a 6f handicap in November, the last occasion he raced here. Kinigi may be the biggest danger.

This should concern the front 5 , 3 of whom will place, but boy is it tight at the head of the market with 3 horses at 3/1 and one at 4/1

350 SOUTHWELL
BETTING FORECAST: 15/8 Love Delta, 2/1 Bowmaker, 6/1 R Woody, 8/1 Maldon Prom, 9/1 Coolree Star, 10/1 Italian Tom.

DIOMED VERDICT: A toss up between Mark Johnston's pair of C&D winners, with BOWMAKER taken to concede the weight to Love Delta, though the market may provide the most telling clues.

2 places and 2 dominant market leaders - Bowmake has leapfrogged into favouratism for Mark Johnston over his other Love Delta

FOOTBALL
All bets came in yesterday, under 4.5 goals Brum v Man Utd, over 1.5 goals Arsenal, Boulogne , Bordeaux., Hibs half time, over 2.5 goals. If you chose any of the shortlisters instead of the late postponed Lille match, then well done.
The interesting match was Inter Milan. If we presume they don't lose at home, then what do we do in the 85th minute when they are 3-2 down? Well we can lay Siena at 1.4 .We can back Inter at 25 (and bigger) anad trust in Mourinho's home record remaining intact - Inter almost inevitably won 4-3 with an 88th minute goal and a 90+ minute winner from Samuel.

So, do use this stat if the improbable Mourinho losing at home looks about to occur!!

The Galatasary game at 1130 is of interest but too early

1215 - Hamilton v Rangers 1.3 10th v top
Hamilton were beaten 4-1 at Rangers, and beaten 2-1 at home by Celtic when they visited. This will give a guide as to today's likely scores. NOTE - Hamilton have anaged to score against the Old Firm in both games
Home wins over 3rd placed Hibs and 5th placed HEarts at home should sound a slight note of caution for Rangers backers but a recent 2-0 loss to Celtic at Celtic could suggest that the Old Firm are a little stronger than Hibs and Hearts.
RAngers away fro home blotted their copy book when going through that draw period in September, but that's behind them now, with 10 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss since then.
Kris Boyd has been imperious of late. I would dearly want him to play today along with Kenny Miller.
Against sides in Hamilton's area of the table, expectation is for 3 goals at least from Rangers. Note though, that this weekend has seen shorties fall regularly - partly due to the weather? I don't know.
1.22 over 1.5 goals and 1.68 over 2.5 goals presumes that Hamilton score a goal and Rangers react and win.

1230 -Olympiakos v Larissa - 1.25 - 2nd in league plays 11th. Have beaten Larissa 2-0 at their ground.
Rough patch for Oly at the moment - their only 2 losses of the season have come in their last 2 games. Slight vulnerability today OR a chance to get back on the winning track ?
LArissa have played 3 of the top 5 away and lost all matches. Only win away against bottom sode Panthrakikos.
Beaten by Panathanaikos 4-1 when they visited. in an ideal world this should be a guide as to what Oly can do,but again, there is that niggle regarding the 2 recent defeats on the trot (albeit against 4th and 5th in the league)

430pm Tresillac v Marseilles - 1.21 away side. Another Coupe de France mismatch should go the way of the Ligue 1 outfit, as long as we see a strong line up. Note -Bordeaux only won 1-0 thanks to a penalty against Division 3 outfit, so the real ideal is the check the Marseilles website ( hopefully it will have English alternatives)
4th in Ligue 1 should have far too much for the hoe side who play in the 5th tier ( equivalent I suppose to the Blue square)

6pm-Real Madrid v Mallorca - 1.34 - hav won all home games playing Mallorca who are 5th in the league precisely because THEY have won all of their home matches. Poor travellers though - lost 4-2 to Barca and 2-0 to Sevilla could be a likely guide.
3 1-1's away though ( especially the one against Valencia) add a slight niggle.
A trading match for me this one, hoping Real score first - they have scored first in 75% of their games ( not quite Barcelona's 93%!!)

745 - Paris St Germain v Aubervilliers - 1.18 - the type of Coupe de France mismatch that ca hopefully spell an easy afternoon for the home side

8pm - Tenerife v Barca - 1.41 away side - 4 wins, 2 draws and 2 losses at home. It is their away form which leaves them worrying about relegation.
The only top side to visit has been Sevilla who won 2-1
Beaten 3-0 by Real at Real is a kind of a guide to likely score against big 2.
Draw last time for Barca at home was lacklustre - 5 wins and 3 draws away - have beaten bottom 2 sides 2-0 away from home - Tenerife are 4th bottom.

815pm - Porto v Liera - 1.29 - won all at home bar 1-1 draw with bottom side
Liera 2 wins on the trot including the scalp of Sporting ( 1-0) at Sporting means they will fear nothing this evening.-have generally lost to top 4 sides though when playing them.

SHORTLIST
Rangers have found their scoring boots - 2 0-0's away are of no concern as they occured in the September spate of draws. Miller and Boyd play ,well then we should have goals.
1.22 over 1.5 goals or 1.3 Rangers win.

430pm Trellisac v marseilles - 4th in league away to team playing almost amateur football should be an away win at 1.2 IF a good team is chosen

745pm- Paris St G v Aubervilliers - 1.18 - signals goals like the Hibs game yesterday - match is in running.

8pm - Expectation higher than last game for Barcelona away to Tenerife. They should win with the big guns playing and 1.41 looks good ( a game to trade given Barca score 93% of the time first!!)

No horse racing again - I just want to wait for the weather to abait and have a bigger pool of races to choose from.

SHORTLIST OF THE SHORTLIST

Rangers , with Boyd and Miller playing, look too strong and full of goals, having scored 3 or more goals in 6 of last 7 games ( Celtic 1-1 the only game they didn't)
1.3 for the win or 1.23 over 1.5 goals

If playing their strongest sides, then Marseilles and Paris St Germain should win easily. I suppose 1.18 Paris St Germain takes into account home advantage so they would be favoured.
