11/09

Loom won and the fav in the 225 Uttox also won. ANother warning re BEnbaun - these top class races have top class horses ( you don't say!) and the fav didn't even place - something to do with 5 furlongs and soft ground as well I don't doubt. SO I selected the correct horses today although Loom was not my most confident bet but obliged which was good to see - so the winning place only run continues

BRIGHTON
soft ground and I am writing the blog the night before so plenty can change in the interim
210
BETTING FORECAST: 4/5 Liberation, 4/1 Barood, 6/1 Ascendant, 10/1 Adios Juan, 12/1 Medlock, 14/1 Appraisal, 33/1 Killmarnock, 50/1 Zaruschka ,

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: LIBERATION (nap) made a debut brimming with promise in a stronger Sandown maiden and, with his top yard flying, looks the one to beat. Barood and Ascendant can fight out the minor placings.

An interesting race if only to point out that the fav has only run the once and never on soft ground - given the maiden status of the race there might be a dark horse in the mix BUT there are no debutants in this field. Soft ground leads me further away from this one as a place only selection

355
BETTING FORECAST: 8/11 Star Rocker, 4/1 Red Merlin, 11/2 Basanti, 6/1 Hawk Flight, 20/1 Dontellempike, 25/1 Requia, 50/1 Percyslavenderblue .

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: The very promising STAR ROCKER has been found an ideal opportunity to make it third time luck

The races inbetween the first and this one also contains potential price gappers but again soft ground and race type really puts me off
THis is another maiden race and a fav whose form is 32 - signals progression?
Again soft to contend with and from a palce backers prespective this one really has to be reliable because there's only 2 places
3 perceived outsiders who if their prices indicate they are still outsiders in the live market, do make place backers' jobs easier as Star Rocker only has 3 to beat to place
Again, unproven on soft ground, and who's to tell whether this soft ground will become heavier as the day moves on

310 DON
BETTING FORECAST: 4/7 Rainbow View, 6/1 Rose Diamond, 7/1 Aaroness, 8/1 Snoqualmie Girl, 14/1 Lahaleeb, 20/1 Uvinza, 25/1 Latin Tinge, 100/1 Lilly Blue .

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: Impossible to oppose RAINBOW VIEW, who looks a top-class filly in the making and ran right away from the opposition in the Group 3 Sweet Solera at Newmarket last month, recording a fine time figure in the process.

High class racing at Donny and some interesting races prior to this one, but this catrches the eye, noticeable price gap and "impossible to oppose" reflected in current 4/9 quote
Again soft ground to conted with - won last twice and won on good to soft, but like BEnbaun's race, this is a group 2 ,class 1 and all horses in the race are quality.
Positives for place backers - 3 to place and 3 perceived outsiders making the favs place prospects easier.
WOn't be much of a price I dont think if 4/9 quote the night before. Ground will have to be accounted for but market leaders ran favourably at DOnny yesterday

One for the shortlist

SANDOWN
220
BETTING FORECAST: 4/5 Aahaygirl, 4/1 Swiss Lake Sweetie, 8/1 Intikama, 9/1 Always There, Inthawain, 12/1 Top Town Girl .

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: AAHAYGIRL looks the clear pick, but with the three once-raced fillies all likely-looking candidates for serious improvement, this may not be quite as straightfoward as the figures suggest. Swiss Lake Sweetie was a big eyecatcher on debut and may prove the leading danger if handling the ground

Another good example of a race to tread warily with - why? well 5 furlongs - class 5 maiden fillies race - only 6 runners meaning onl;y 2 the place and outsiders priced at only 12/1

A sparse day for me with only Rainbow view worth entertaining IF the ground does not deteriorate,
