3/2

Southwell remains today and begins with a class 6 amateur riders handicap

110
BETTING FORECAST: 13/8 Dontpaytheferryman, 5/1 Ramvaswani, 6/1 Reprieved, 8/1 Shenandoah Girl, York Cliff, 10/1 Top Jaro, 12/1 Bright Sparky, 14/1 Itsy Bitsy, 33/1 Integration, Welcome Releaf, 40/1 Charlie Bear, 50/1 Katie Kingfisher.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: Scott Dobson is 2-4 for Allan Dickman in recent seasons and DONTPAYTHEFERRYMAN can take advantage of what could prove a lenient mark returned to the Flat on his debut for this yard. Reprieved is also interesting with Simon Walker booked on his first outing for Julie Camacho

And a price gapper. Now this may fall into my price gapper in a poor grade race system as these shorties do tend to run well despite logic telling you not to get involved expecially with amateur riders 1.38 to place

140
BETTING FORECAST: 11/4 Ready To Crown, 3/1 Cragganmore Creek, 13/2 World Of Choice, 8/1 Lady Asheena, 10/1 August Gale, Miss Understanding, 12/1 Dr Light, Present, 16/1 Ashmolian, Reminiscent, 25/1 Super King, 66/1 Attack Minded.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: Ready To Crown should be involved if taking to Fibresand, while Lady Asheena and World Of Choice are others to consider, but CRAGGANMORE CREEK is taken to follow up last year's success in this race under an amateur who is 3-6 at Southwell (two of those wins on this horse)

More amatuer riders and 12 runners down to 6 - what is interesting here is that World of Choice is now clear favourite - I thought Cragganmore creek would have been fav in this new field so is this a sign? 1.46

BETTING FORECAST: 2/1 Woodcote, 11/4 Grimes Faith, Strathmore, 11/2 Fire Up The Band, 8/1 Billy Hot Rocks, 33/1 She´s Our Beauty, 100/1 Always Engaged.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: Woodcote is officially best in at the weights but he has never proved the easiest to catch right and his ability to handle Fibresand has to be taken on trust. STRATHMORE, who gets the verdict, and Grimes Faith both act well on the surface and are very likely to give their runnin

3rd fav is out and Grimes faith is now odds on! 1.34

BETTING FORECAST: 3/1 Diamond Surprise, 7/2 Spiritual Healing, 5/1 Where´s Reiley, 6/1 Yes Please, 10/1 Chantilly Jewel, 12/1 Uncle Brit, 14/1 Jerusalem, Singapore Girl, 16/1 Beaux Yeux, 25/1 Imperial Djay, Only Hope, 50/1 Optical Seclusion, Princess Zhukova.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: Money for any of the newcomers would be significant but as things stand, the pair to make most appeal are DIAMOND SURPRISE and Spiritual Healing. The latter may be the better long-term prospect but the selection is proven under the conditions and can gain a deserved success

Diamond surprise now 13/8 and backed 1.33

BETTING FORECAST: Evs Riguez Dancer, 7/2 My Mentor, 7/1 Karmest, Mr Aitch, 12/1 Bajan Pride, Davenport.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: This is best left to last week's wide-margin Wolverhampton winner RIGUEZ DANCER, who shouldn't be inconvenienced by the penalty (likely to be going up good deal more than 6lb) or the step back in trip at this stiffer course. He handles Fibresand and his stable remain in cracking form. My Mentor can't be ruled out with the blinkers refitted and Davenport has place prospects back on Fibresand

A case of "will he or won't he?" for Riguez dancer on a 3 timer - priced odds on so the market suggests "yes" but only 2 the place 1.36

ONE A DAY

What is noticeable is the high prices for all places today ( we can put that down to race type and some 2 the place races)

Dontpaytheferryman is interesting as he falls into my price gapper in a low grade (0-52) handicap
Riguez dancer is priced to get the hatrick

I will, against my better judgement, put my faith in Dontpaytheferryman in the first to place despite the amater riders who cannot really be trusted as professionals can
