11/2

Esprit de Midas won well as expected. Another poor price but rock solid. Blacktoft won and at 1.21 was a lot better priced

110 LINGFIELD
BETTING FORECAST: 2/1 Rapid City, 11/4 Cantabilly, 9/2 Sweet World, 11/2 Inquest, 14/1 Barodine, Royal Straight, 20/1 Bombardier Wells, Jayyid, 25/1 Maddy.
SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: Sweet World will appreciate the return to the Flat and makes some appeal but RAPID CITY has found his level now and has solid claims

With the success of a couple of 16/1 type bets yesterday (cape of storms winning at 5/1 - 10/1 in the betting forecast), I thought it would be interesting to note any market movers and see how they perform.
Royal Sreaight now 9/1 , Jayyid now 14/1 and Maddy now 12/1 - perhaps too many qualifiers in a selling race - why,too is Sweet world in double figure odds. Still the prices are high and it would be a good exercise to see if a profit could accrue by backing all 3 horses each way

205 KEMPTON
BETTING FORECAST: 7/2 Rough Sketch, 4/1 Ready To Crown, 7/1 Mix N Match, Play Up Pompey, 8/1 Lytham, 10/1 Noah Jameel, The Graig, 12/1 Moyoko, 14/1 Elliwan, 20/1 Sestet, Siryena, 25/1 Alucica, Snake Skin, 50/1 Bid Art.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: Interesting to see how the market speaks about the unexposed Rough Sketch who is surely better than he showed at Great Leighs but he is drawn on the outside. Preference is for READY TO CROWN who ran well when second to a well-handicapped rival at Lingfield last time and is 5lb better off with the close third, Mix N Match, who won next time

A big price difference with Ellwan at 5/1 currently

210 LING
BETTING FORECAST: 4/5 Prairie Hawk, 6/1 Orchard House, 10/1 Prince Of Medina, Safin, 12/1 Mulaazem, 14/1 Irish Ballad, Magic Kahyasi, 20/1 Rock Peak, Rockjumper, 25/1 Play Master, 33/1 Bella Medici.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: A few of these have similar claims but the exception is PRAIRIE HAWK (nap), who resumed his upward progress when winning over shorter at Wolverhampton on Saturday; he should be suited by this longer trip. Orchard House has been given a short break and might be interesting back on the Flat.

Rockjumper a non runner. This falls into my price gapper in a class 6 0-60 handicap "system"

MArket movers to note ? MAgic Khayasi 9/2 and Irish Ballad 6/1 are the market movers

240 LING
BETTING FORECAST: 11/4 Silca Meydan, 7/2 Dance And Dance, 4/1 Phoenix Rising, 10/1 Cloudesley, Joannadarc, Viva La Vida, 12/1 Highgate Cat, 16/1 Independent James, Indian Story, Set The Trend, 33/1 Kings On The Roof, 50/1 Fleuron.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: SILCA MEYDAN put up a likeable first effort on his debut here and the way he travelled there suggested the shorter trip won't be a great concern. Phoenix Rising is the most interesting of the newcomers.

Set the trend is 7/2 and Cloudesley 7/1
Dance and Dance I remember under Spencer last time - I backed it to palce, but this is a bigger field maiden race

405 KEMP
BETTING FORECAST: 11/4 Princess Cagliari, 3/1 Kheley, 9/2 Hatman Jack, Raimond Ridge, Romantic Queen, 12/1 Quick Single.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: The in-form Kheley has to be respected but from a better draw than when just failing last time, this may be the day for PRINCESS CAGLIARI to get her head in fron

LAst 2 runs -2 head seconds
May be of interest but a small field handicap and only 2 the place
Now 13/8 in places so backed

410 LING
BETTING FORECAST: 3/1 Nicky Nutjob, 7/2 Derringbay, 9/2 True Britannia, 5/1 Good Buy Dubai, 7/1 Peintre D´Argent, 8/1 Maison D´Or, 16/1 Squad, 25/1 Spring Quartet, 33/1 Calypso Prince.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: Nicky Nutjob could be better than he showed last time but preference is for DERRINGBAY, who posted a solid display in a maiden last time and looks the one open to the most improvement. C&D winner True Britannia and Good Buy Dubai have place claims

Spring Quartet now 12/1

ONE A DAY PLACE ONLY

Poor all weather races from my perspective and immediately nothing appeals as standout for place only purposes
By standout I mean "Esprit de Midas" standout!!

Prairie Hawk in the 210 Lingfield falls into the price gapper in a class 6 0-60 handicap system as you will have read in the latest newsletter.
I really do not like middel sistance races as, for me, they are difficult to guage and horses need both an element of stamina and a final kick.
These price gappers in low grade affairs win more often than not, and if they don't win, they place!
1.23 to back and 1.34 to lay is quite a gap which I presume will narrow nearer the off offering a better price.
405 KEMP would be interesting but look at the betting forecast - 11/4 , 3/1, 9/2 , 9/2 , 9/2 -very very tight market
Romantic queen a non runner - 1.6 for Princess Calgiari to place says it all really doesn't it! Far roo competitive for my involvement

On days like this, I tend to look at the footy too to see if there are any better alternatives to place only betting at poor all weather venues.
Germany v Norway - Germany are 2/5
San MArino v Northern Ireland - Northern Ireland are 1/10
Ireland v Georgia - Ireland are 4/11 - shorter than Germany!!
Portugal v Finland - 2/5

I make take a chance on Prairie Hawk today ( I have backed him to place before) - 2 miles is a real niggle for me though and I will monitor in running. 1.23 is reasonable enough but I expect the price to rise
