10/2

Well, my mention of soft ground in the RP not necessarily being soft ground at the venue proved prophetic -heavy ground at Plumpton meant NO bets at Plumpton so I was left with Longboat Key who , guess what, came 2nd! But hey, we won!
Fabulous Fred came 2nd again and was strong in the betting market despite heavy ground but I left him alone becase of the heavy as well as the dutch which was scrapped.
So it would be a good idea to check any venues initially described as soft in the betting site, just to ensure they are not actually heavy.

310 LING
BETTING FORECAST: 11/10 Blacktoft, 6/4 Zero Cool, 9/2 North Parade, 25/1 Bet Noir, 66/1 Fortune Point.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: With North Parade and Zero Cool underachieving, this looks another decent opportunity for BLACKTOFT who knows how to get the job done at this level.[

Low grade claimer over middle distances and I don't like middle distances. Blacktoft remains odds on in a race which should involve 3 vying for 2 places 1.2 to place

340 LING
BETTING FORECAST: 8/13 Dansant, 2/1 Suits Me, 12/1 Capable Guest, 14/1 Rio Guru, 200/1 Meohmy.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: Mick Channon has three of the five runners but on all known form this is a match between DANSANT and Suits Me. The northern raider has proved a tough horse to pass this winter and may get his own way up front, but Dansant is one of the top performers on this surface and may be able to run him down late on again.

5 runner down to 3 and the 2 market leaders remain - still 2 the place on betfair? DAnsant 1.02 to place and Suits me 1.05 to place (but illiquid market - may be higher)

420 SOUTHWELL
BETTING FORECAST: 1/2 Esprit De Midas, 5/1 Paint Splash, 8/1 Dancing Wave, 10/1 Why Nee Amy, 20/1 Cwmni, Floods Of Tears.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: He won't be much of a price but ESPRIT DE MIDAS has yet to be troubled in handicap company and a quick-fire hat-trick looks on the cards. Dancing Wave may again be second-best, though Paint Splash wouldn't be exposed just yet at this trip and also looks a strong contender for minor honours

I place backed Esprit de Midas last time out.
Now 1/3 and strongly fancied for the hatrick in handicap company 1.1 to place

ONE A DAY

2 all weather meettings today and there are some potential qualifiers in earlier races but they are predominanlty 2 the place in maidens - NO TA!
In days like this I like to look at Ladbrokes website for the footy to see if there are any solid shorties
Stevenage v Forest GReen 2/5 -Steveange have scored 19 goals in their last 6 home matches and beat Forest Green 3-0 last time they met in Spet 2008 Forest Green have drawn 3 and lost 1 of their last 4 away games - this game may be postponed
Glentoran v Bangor 1/4
I can find no stats re Glentoran
I thought the 340 would offer me a way in but 1.02 and 1.03 against a 250/1 shot tells its own story. Meohmy would be a viable lay in the place market were it not for the lack of interest. 6.8 to back and 17 to lay.
I could take the 17 but that's just a chancer backer who's put up a silly price for layers
Brazil v Italy under 4.5 goals at 1.1 looks very appetising.
Laying Italy ?Italy half time/full time is equally enticing to win target profit

Esprit de Mida has to burden a double penalty in the handicap race. A multiple handicap winner -he's on a hatrick today and priced to win (quite obviously)
1.1 to place is reasonable enough but I really don't like such short prices.
So how about Blacktoft at 1.2?
5 horse race - one horse at 20/1 and one horse at 50/1 should bring the competitive field down to 3, 2 of which will place
This is a class 6 claimer over 1 mile 2 - Blacktoft was a winner last time out.

In conclusion, Esprit de Midas would be my one a day with a slight niggle over the double penalty, BUT why has he been backed off the boards again?
