100 STHL
BETTING FORECAST: 5/2 Mac Dalia, 7/2 Grimes Faith, 9/2 Back In The Red, 8/1 Monte Major, Tag Team, 10/1 Diminuto, 12/1 Spic ´n Span, 16/1 Ronnie Howe, 20/1 Flying Indian.
SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: Grimes Faith should be right in the mix on these terms but MAC DALIA looks the pick of the weights and, assuming she's fully tuned up, is taken to maintain her unbeaten record in sellers. Any market confidence would be particularly encouraging after her absence. |
Grimes faith now 13/8 - this is not a price gapper bet but is an interesting market mover, albeit in a poor seller 1.31 to place

BETTING FORECAST: 10/11 Finger Onthe Pulse, 13/8 Irish Invader, 7/1 Holly Tree, 20/1 Garrai Ard, 25/1 Carrigeen King.
SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: FINGER ONTHE PULSE, set to make a quick reappearance after finishing third to a back-to-form Schindlers Hunt in the Pierse Leopardstown Chase on Sunday, will be hard to beat if suffering no ill-effects. Last season's Jewson Chase winner should have no trouble confirming form with Holly Tree whom he beat by 7l on his seasonal debut in a 2m1f Limerick event.\n |
A quick reappearance by Finger on the Pulse and in a 5 runner race with 2 outsiders - Irish ionvader looks the most likely opponent
1.27 and 1.34 for the front 2 to place
140 THURLES
Flag of Honour and Air Chief the big movers in a race where only 3 are sub 10/1
1.27 to place for the 2 mentioned
220 FOLK
BETTING FORECAST: 9/4 Psi, 100/30 Ronaldo Des Mottes, 9/2 Silk Affair, 13/2 Red And White, 9/1 Gofannon, 16/1 Force Tradition, Janet´s Delight, Loco Grande, Pinnacle Point, 20/1 Captain Mainwaring, 25/1 Hampton Court, 28/1 Tamrai Dancer, 33/1 Sunny Sprite, 40/1 Amouretta, 50/1 Karmei.
SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: A handful of interesting runners, though couldn't be confident about the outcome with much depending on how the hurdles newcomers jump and how much improvement some of the lightly raced ones find. Psi and hurdles newcomers Ronaldo des Mottes and Gofannon are well worth considering but tentative preference is for SILK AFFAIR, quite decent on the Flat (including on soft) and who ran with some promise on last month's hurdles debut at Kempton |
Ronaldo Des Mottes is the big mover here into evens in places - a maiden hrdle so caution required 1.38 to place
245 THURLES
BETTING FORECAST: 5/4 Uimhiraceathair, 6/1 Gonebeyondrecall, Menwaal, 7/1 Fosters Cross, 8/1 Lord Over, 10/1 Howyakeepan, Steve Capall, 12/1 Ballymahon, Who´s Deal, 14/1 Palace Merano, 16/1 Appeal Denied, Sherchanceit, 20/1 Baffin Island, Mister Micheau, 25/1 Boujis Bhoys, 33/1 Verchoyles Boy, 50/1 Belass Boy, Lazy Maggie,
SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: UIMHIRACEATHAIR is potentially another smart graduate from the bumper ranks to his stable's powerful squad of novice hurdlers. The Old Vic gelding won two of his four bumper starts last season, and created a good impression when accounting for the subsequent Punchestown Grade 1 third and dual hurdles winner Academy Sir Harry by 19l at Navan. He also did well to carry a penalty to victory at the Curragh in May.\n |
330 STHL
BETTING FORECAST: 8/13 Ultimate, 4/1 Benozzo Gozzoli, Kochanski, 20/1 Antipodean, 25/1 First Hand, Miss Christophene.
SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: ULTIMATE is difficult to oppose judged on his third over C&D last month. Any market support for stablemate Benozzo Gozzoli would be interesting, while Kochanski is a possible improver from the Johnston yard. |
3 at 20/1 or over - will they run as their prices indicate? If so, Ultimate is a good place prospect in this all weather maiden 1.7 to win and 1.2 to place
410 GREAT LEIGHS
BETTING FORECAST: 9/4 Open Sesame, 4/1 Dante Deo, Giant Strides, 9/2 Solo Choice, 5/1 Gaselee, 14/1 Derringbay, 25/1 Finger Spin.
SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: The placed form of Solo Choice, Dante Deo and Giant Strides is not much better than plating class so it may be worth siding with a newcomer. On pedigree this sort of trip looks more suitable for GASELEE than Open Sesame so she is preferred |
Open Sesame is odds on here and Solo Choice is 10/1 1.86 and 1.32 to place
440 GREAT LEIGHS
BETTING FORECAST: 4/7 Joe Jo Star, 7/2 Scutch Mill, 12/1 Jiminor Mack, Miss Understanding, Ruwain, 20/1 Kentavr´s Dream, 33/1 Silver Spruce.
SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: A weak handicap and an obvious opportunity for last week's decisive Wolverhampton winner JOE JO STAR to make it 3-3 for the Fahey yard. Scutch Mill should follow him home |
Incredibly easy on the bridle at a canter etc etc etc winner last time out - a price gapper in a 0-60 handicap , Joe Jo Star is now heading the market again but is not a price gapper. That said, he and Scutch Mill are the only 2 below 12/1 in the betting forecast and in the live market Miss Understanding is the each way shot at 8/1
Not backed as yet, Joe Jo Star is drifting at present with money for Scutch Mill. Joe Jo was mighty impressive last time ( I watched said race) -the only thing I am put off by is 2 the place
1.28 and 1.55 to place for the top 2
ONE A DAY
unlike yesterday a little trickier today - a lot of 2 the place races and maidens ,boith hurdle and flat.
My shortlist?
110 THURLES - question mark over Finger on the Pulse returning so quickly -will this open the door for Irish Invader to place for Walsh/Mullins? - Negative - 2 the place
330 STHL - Ultimate faces 3 horses priced 20/1 or over in this 6 runner race. Assuming they run as their prices dictate, then Ultimate has 1 to beat to place. Negative - 2 the place
440 GREAT LEIGHS - looks to involve 3 here and to make my target profit per day today, I will back the front 3 in a dutch to win £3.30 -this will cost me £29.30 using Fairbot's dutching required profit option.
From a place perspective, Ultimate could be the one. So it's a dtch for me today in the 440 rather than chance 2 the place especially with the market mover Miss Understanding
