30/1

Some surprises yesterday included Lecce beating Inter 1-0. But yet again we saw Doxas lose only 0-1 at home. Matches like that , if deciphered, can be good to get angles into. Enhanced traders -how about Villa 0-2 up at halftime? Did you lay Villa or back Arsenal?

6pm - Denizlispor v Elazigspor - 2.72 home - Turkish 2nd Division so no interest from me at all. Top flight is difficult enough in Turkey,

6pm - Ivory Coast v Angola  - 1.82 home - The ACN looks a Cup of Shocks so far, and Ivory Coast should be breezing through all rounds with the strikers and players they have. I would look to oppose Ivory Coast at odds on, and hope for a sustained 0-0. No real research to do. Note that a draw is all the Ivorians need to go through as top of their group. So remember the old maxim that teams that don't need to win rarely do.

745pm - Oldham v Chesterfield - 1.84 home - Johnstons Paints Trophy Area Final 2nd leg - I'll get me coat!
( get it? Paint - coat?) Not a match that interests me at all. From the Racing Post, Oldham have won 6 of their last 9 at home in all competitions and are the RP's pick to win.
8pm - Osasuna v Atl Madrid - 2.28 away

Whenever you see a football fav at over evens, be ware! It could be as tight as the 2 2011 meetings.
LEAGUE POSITION - 9th v 10th and only 1 point separates the teams. A possibility to jump to 6th place with a win for both sides this evening.

HOME TEAM - -past fixtures, forthcoming fixtures and likely team - Osasuna

RECENT HOME FORM - WDDWWDWWLD - recent loss v 17th placed Racing puts a dampener on the form. All wins saw Osasuna score 2 or 3 goals It seems that if Osasuna score, they will get something out of the match. Wins came against 4th, 13th, 15th, 16th and 17th.

RECENT FORM OVERALL - WDWLDWWDWDLD - inconsistent teams signal terror for traders. Last 4 draws either 0-0 or 1-1.The recent home loss, 0-2 v Racing, seems to be a tad unfair with 2 penalties for Racing. So perhaps we don't take that match at face value. Notice the 3 0-0's v 10th away ( playing them at home today), 11th at home, and 12th away.

GOAL TRENDS - 50/50 overs and unders. 4 of the last 5 under 2.5 goals . Osasuna have failed to score in 2 of the last 3 matches.  In the last 8 matches, there have been 15 goals scored, 11 of which were scored in the 2nd half. In those 8 matches there were 2 0-0's. Can we draw a case for Osasuna and a strong defence here?

STREAKS - have conceded in last 4 at home( losing only 1)

AWAY TEAM - past fixtures -forthcoming fixtures and likely team - Ath Madrid

RECENT AWAY FORM - LLDLLLLDW - only 1 win away came last match 0-4 v Sociedad(12th) An argument can be made that Ath Madrid have been a tad unfortunate with the fixture list. away defeats v 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th, 8th. ( oh and playing 9th today) - 0-0 draw v 7th. , conceding 4,4,1,4,3,0,3.But last 2 away matches have seen Madrid not concede.

RECENT OVERALL FORM - LWLWLWLLDWW - the poor alternating LW sequence has ended with a DWW and 3 wins, 2 at home and all without conceding.Let's not get too carried away. The wins were against teams well away from the top 10.

GOAL TRENDS - 67% overs away from home. Remember though the number of teams in the top part of the league that Ath Madrid have played.

STREAKS - 3 consecutive clean sheets.

CONCLUSION/NOTES/STANDOUT STATS - this could be defence v newly found ability to keep a clean sheet ( MAdrid). Any goal action for Osasuna, in recent 8 matches , has appeared in the 2nd half. Look at the 0-0's Osasuna have achieved against MAdrid this season and the 2 teams next to Madrid in the league. Look at the recent 0-0 Madrid achieved against a top 10 side and we could have a stalemate here for a while. ( yes, and Madrid will score 3 and 4 like they did last 2 matches!!!)
I hope you see that an argument can be made for a low scoring game. Remember though what I just said about Madrid's last 2 matches overall.

815pm - Maritimo v Braga - 2.38 away

Another odds price which does not immediately grab my attention. Braga, though, are 6/6 in head to heads, albeit there have been 5 wins by a single goal and 4 wins seeing both sides score.
LEAGUE POSITION - 5th v 3rd in a league which looks a 2 horse race. That said Porto amazingly lost 3-1 yesterday so Braga must accept these gifts if they seek to challenge in some capacity when the top 2 drop points.

HOME TEAM - -past fixtures, forthcoming fixtures and likely team - Maritimo

RECENT HOME FORM - DWWWWLW - that is a surprise - 5 wins out of last 6 at home.Only played one of top 5 at home, losing 1-0 to benfica. 2-1 wins v 6th and 7th, and 3-2 win v 8th.

RECENT FORM OVERALL - DWDWDLLWDW - sole defeats this season v top 3 ( 0-2 away to Braga) And playing top 3 again today.

GOAL TRENDS - 57% overs at home. Have only kept a clean sheet in 3 matches this season.
STREAKS - 6 at home without a draw. HAve conceded in the last 7 overall.

AWAY TEAM - past fixtures -forthcoming fixtures and likely team - Braga

RECENT AWAY FORM - DWDLDLWW - defeats have come against 2nd and 15th. Draws against 6th, 8th and 12th.

RECENT OVERALL FORM - WDDLWWWWW - will this 5 match winning streak be the momentum for Braga to get a positive result this evening against a good home side ( who are vulnerable to top 3)?

GOAL TRENDS - 38% overs away from home. Last 6 matches all over 2.5 goals, starting with a 2-3 loss to Porto then 5 wins, 5-2, 3-4, 1-2, 2-1, 2-1

STREAKS - Have scored and conceded in the last 7 matches. 5 match winning streak overall.

CONCLUSION/NOTES/STANDOUT STATS - I think Braga's recent rampant run should see them favourites in what looks styled to be either a score draw or a tight away win in keeping with the goalladen last 6 matches. 2-1 is a current Braga sequence and Maritimo had 2-1 wins against 6th and 7th.
Backing 1-1 as a tradable angle might work as both sides like to score and concede. 1-2 and 2-1 might be the correct scores for value seekers.
