The horse racing is full of 7 runner races on slow all weather grounds and is really not of much appeal to me. Are we to believe that in the 720 Wolves Alubari has a "golden opportunity" - if so then surely he should place? I would ideally want to consult the betting market nearer the off as this is a class 5 maiden.
Football wise and ,yes, there are some obvious short priced favourites but a closer look ath the form of the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Ajax for instance shows that they are going through a blip at present. Are they truly to be trusted whilst entrenched in this poorish form ?
In contrast, Barcelona could not be in better form. My concern with their clash tonight is that the head to heads when played at Osasuna point to DWD - 2 draws. I am, though, willing to back them this evening in the hope they maintain their 100% away record and a goal scoring average of 3 or more in each of their last 5 games. Yes Osasuna may be a bogey team with those 2 draws achieved at home in head to heads but I will risk in the hope Barca dominate possession and score

*****ONE A DAY -
7pm - Osasuna v Barcelona - Back Barcelona in the match odds at 1.24.*****

2pm -
FC Copenhagen v Esbjerg - 1.43 home LWWDWW in head to heads in favour of Copenhagen augurs well. Unbeaten all season and just the single draw amongst 6 wins. 5,4,3,2 goals scored at home. Copenhagen are rocking.
5 draws and 2 losses for Esbjerg this season. 4 draws away from home. All score draws, 1 2-2 and 3 1-1's - goals bet perhaps will cover Esbjerg scoring?

3pm -
Arsenal v Fulham - 1.36 home - only 2 points behind Chelsea so Arsenal are bang in there much to my surprise!!
WWLWWLL at home for the Arse 2 losses on the trot at home and Arsenal are still in the hunt got the title.
DDDDLLD away for Fulham - tough to beat but finding it hard to win away from home.
Again, not for me with Arsenal's current questionable home form and Fulham's propensity for drawing away from home.
3pm -
Chelsea v Everton - 1.43 home - LWLLD for Chelsea in last 5 and again we have a team who should hold firm at home but are patently out of form.
DWDDD away for Everton away from home - they certainly never say die away and will be royal pains in the arse for an out of kilter Chelsea. Again another messy match offering little appeal to the Chelsea backer.
530pm -
Panathinaikos v Panserraikos - 1.21 home - DLD in last 3 head to heads for Pana, the draws were 0-0 does not augur well for 1.21 backers unless there is a 0-0 insurance bet. Pana have only lost 1 match all season and are in good form, but the head to heads are a great concern.
Not for me I'm afraid -the 2 0-0's in head to heads stand out like a sore thumb

545pm -
Ajax v NEC Nijmegen - 1.25 home wwwlwwld FOR Ajax at home. They have surprisingly lost points in last 2 home matches - most unlikely them and, in a messy day all round, are far from certain to be trustworthy betting propositions - 5,5,3,6 the number of goals between these 2 in last 4 head to heads. 4,6,5 the number of goals between NEC and the top 3 in the league - given Ajax's poor form at present, perhaps a safer bet would be over 1.5 goals which includes both sides
645pm -
PSV v Heracles - 1.19 home - against bottom 8, at home, PSV have been imperious, winning all and scoring 6,3,10,4,3. I mention this because heracles are 13th.
PSV have won last 6 head to heads, but only 1-0 away at Heracles last time out. But, in 2 most recent home head to heads, they scored 4 goals twice, which ties in with their performances against other lower half sides in the league at home. Only dropped points at home against 2nd and 3rd.
Heracles have lost all bar 1 draw away from home, conceding 2,4,3,3 against 5th, 6th, 7th 8th in the league.

7pm -
Osasuna v Barcelona - 1.24 away - 4 wins and 2 draws at home for Osasuna but they are yet to play any of the top 8. Real Madrid have beaten them away 1-0 .
DWD for head to heads when played at Osasuna. Interesting. Seem to be tough to beat and the 1-0 Real Madrid scoreline backs this up.
But this is a barca unbeaten in their last 11 matches and currently on a 7 game winning streak. They are also 100% away from home scoring 3,2,3,2,3,8 - hugely consistent.
Check out recent goals scored by Barca ( latest last) 2,2,5,3,3,8,5
Again the number of goals scored has remained 3 or over in last 5 matches.
Barca are quite simply superb at present. barca score first in 84.6% of all games, Osasuna only 30% of games.
Trust in Barca while in this tantalising form - 13 goals in last 2 matches?

745pm -
Twente v De Graafschap - 1.25 home - same points as PSV so must really win home games.4 wins, 2 draws and a loss at home for Twente. Loss against AZ and one draw v Ajax so no great alarm bells there.
LLW in last 3 for Twente some slight concern. De Graafschap are poor away from home, having only won 1 match 1-0 against bottom boys Willem II - there is no real overwhelming piece of form which puts Twente ahead here for me to confidently back outright.

A quick mention must be made of Real Madrid as they are at home and the special one's league record at home is impeccable going back 8+ years. Lay Valencia ? Or back Real in the hope they at least score first?

Southwell, a tricky fibresand surface at the best of times, is slow today

440 KEMPTON
BETTING FORECAST: 6/4
Empress Charlotte, 4/1 Amazon Twilight, 6/1 Dells Breezer, Les Landes, 15/2 Magical Star, 14/1 Lovat Lane, 20/1 Amore Et Labore.

DIOMED VERDICT: EMPRESS CHARLOTTE (nap), foiled only by a gambled-on rival when forced to race wide in similar company at Wolverhampton last time, is the one to beat. Magical Star may give her most to do.

Empress Charlotte is now odds on and strongly fancied , albeit in a race typical of today - 7 runners and only 2 places.

720 WOLVES
BETTING FORECAST: 8/13
Alubari, 5/1 No Rain, 7/1 Yeomanry, 8/1 Faith Jicaro, 25/1 Destiny Of A Diva, 33/1 Marafong, Sergeant Sharpe, Wrecking Crew, 50/1 Big Bad Boo.

DIOMED VERDICT: ALUBARI has been found a golden opportunity to open his account. No Rain may be the main threat if improving for the step up in trip.

Big price gapper and " a golden opportunity" but does this new price factor in an ability to handle the slower ground?

SHORTLIST

Wow! What a niggly day.
2pm - FC Copenhagen v Esbjerg - 1.23 over 1.5 goals involves both sides.
645pm - PSV v Heracles - 1.19 home - PSV have won and scored consistently highly at home against teams in Heracles part of the league. Heracles have lost to 5th,6th,7th,.8th away from home, conceding 2+ regularly.
1.12 over 1.5 goals and I was hoping it was a little nearer the match odds for PSV.
Faith in PSV here to continue their home dominance against teams in the bottom half?
7pm - Osasuna v Barcelona - 1.24 away - scored 3 or more in last 5 matches, score first in 84.6% of all matches, scored 13 in last 2 matches, won all away matches and simply breathtaking at the moment, back Barca regardless?
DWD for last 3 head to heads at Osasuna is a slight cause for concern but trust in a mightily in form Barca to at least score first for a trade?

720 WOLVES - are we really persuaded that this is truly a " golden opportunity" as both Spotlight and Diomed would have us believe?
Illiquid betting market but should be around 1.18 to place. My additional concern is with the weather affected all weather surface which is slower than normal and can be a mighty constrast for some horses used to standard only.
