5/8

Job done yesterday with Zafar and Panathinaikos scoring 2 for the over 1.5 goals bet as they sought to come back from a 3-1 first leg deficit

Start with the footy today as there are plenty of opportunities
16:30 Zenit St Petersburg vs Nizhniy Novgorod 1/7
Russian Cup game - Zenit are a great team and really should do this lot -absolutely no liquidity on betfair yet. Still bookmakers are taking bets. Concern is the old Russian match fixing thing. Zenit, though, are rock solid and at home as well. A serious side should have no problems. NOT in running
18:00 Lyn vs Liverpool 6/1 3/1 4/11

Club friendly - team news of course important but preference for games with meaning - eg Europa /Champions league 1.36 to win. Lyn are 11.5 to lay and the latter may be the more solid proposition here - IN RUNNING
17:00 BATE Borisov vs Ventspils 4/11
Champions league - 1.43 to win . Ventspils 9 to lay - again the lay looks better and this game is tradeable and in running
17:00 Dinamo Moscow vs Celtic 4/5 23/10 11/4
1-0 from 1st leg and perhaps another edgy tight affair -Celtic must score to no reply as Dinamo have the away goal 1.09 under 4.5 goals looks very enticing here as does 1.25 under 3.5 goals. This game has the profile of a tight affair -the home side looking to ensure the away side do not score the away goal while preserving their precious away goal.
Celtic/Celtic lay halft time/full time could be interesting.
Olympiakos are 1.25 to beat Slovan Bratislava

Man Utd play Valencia this evening and are 1.59 to win. Valencia are 6.2 to lay and this is very enticing for a Man Utd side which has been highly effective pre season

Barcelona are 1.38 to beat Seattle at 330 tomorrow morning and they should dispatch this bunch of coffee drinking Nirvana grunge fans with relative ease. Their star player is Freddie "undercrackers" llundberg which tells you all you need to know

Uefa Cup winners Shaktar Donestsk are 4/5 away to FCU Poli which is a huge price. I would favour a goals bet here to have both teams working for us rather than favouring Shaktar.
I just get the feeling this 4/5 may look massive after the game ( first leg 2-2)

210 PONTEFRact
BETTING FORECAST: 4/1 Recession Proof, 7/1 Safebreaker, Umverti, 8/1 Bavarica, 9/1 Fell Pack, 10/1 Kalasam, Locum, 11/1 Dechiper, Johnston´s Baby, Torch Of Freedom, 12/1 We´Re Delighted, 16/1 Parisian Dream, 20/1 Allformary, Astronomical, 66/1 Good Cause.

DIOMED VERDICT: RECESSION PROOF (nap) will take some beating if turning up in the same form as at Newbury on Sunday. Fell Park may be the main threat.

"WILL TAKE SOME BEATING" -v strong and confident wording.
2-1 under John Ennis who takes 5 off. 5/2 - - - 6/1 in the live market a hint of market confidence but we face gentlemen amateur riders here -only 15 runner alas (missing out on 4 places) 1.61 to place

220 NEWCASTLE
BETTING FORECAST: 3/1 Gold Fix, 7/2 Azizi, Desert Forest, 9/2 William Morgan, 5/1 Celestial Tryst, 12/1 Ananda Kanda.

DIOMED VERDICT: Possible this will be tactical. WILLIAM MORGAN, a likely improver, may edge out Gold Fix.

Azizi is 5/4 and solid at head of the market -Outsider a non runner. 1.42 to place

230 BRIGHTON
BETTING FORECAST: 7/4 Interakt, 9/4 Caribou Island, 11/2 Beyond The City, Jutland, 8/1 Luminous Star, 16/1 Rezwaan, 33/1 Hellenio.

DIOMED VERDICT: INTERAKT looks the pick of those with experience having shown plenty of promise on both outings, including at Epsom - a track that's similar in character to Brighton - on his most recent one.

Interakt has the assistance of Dazzler this afternoon after 2 progressive runs under Catherine Gannon. Only 2 places alas - 2 outsiders hopefully will not be involved. 1.44 to place and only 2 places

530 GOWRAN
BETTING FORECAST: 11/10 Joshua Tree, 5/2 Aliwiyya, 7/2 Book Of Numbers, 5/1 Saajidah, 10/1 Taroum, 14/1 Gaelic Revival, 16/1 Colonus, Grandpa Jo, 20/1 Celtic Brave, Zahara Mae.

Market imperative with Murtagh/O'Brien , Oxx/Kinane and Bolger/Manning the market principles, all on 2 year old debutants. wait for market to form

620 YARMOUTH
BETTING FORECAST: 7/4 Enjoyment, 11/4 Wanchai Whisper, 4/1 Keyta Bonita, 11/2 Iron Condor, 17/2 Llandovery, 12/1 The Starboard Bow, 40/1 The Frying Pan, 50/1 Anchorage Boy.

DIOMED VERDICT: WANCHAI WHISPER's debut running here suggested that this extra furlong could well help. She may be able to find the bit more needed to see off Enjoyment.

At this early stage, Enjoyment is very prominent in the live market, odds on at one bookie. THe straight 8 here and 2 horses at 50/1 or bigger can hopefully be discounted.
Yet again, alas, has only had the one run in this maiden and all confidence pinned on that. 1.18 to place

630 GOWRAN
BETTING FORECAST: 7/4 Are You The One, 5/2 Gracchus, 5/1 Quiet Please, 8/1 Middle Persia, 10/1 Alakhan, 12/1 Monsieur Tara, My Own Patron, 16/1 Cushla, 20/1 Annie Mae Mucho, Go Teddy Go, Intyre Trail, Paris Fame, Sean Og Coulston, 25/1 Arrive Alive, Lady Danielle, Strategic Alliance.

Hmmm. Alakhan rock solid 7/4 fav for Oxx/Kinane - note the betting forecast price 1.47 to place

705 KEMPTON
BETTING FORECAST: 7/4 Astonishment, 7/2 Edgewater, Sea Dubai, 15/2 Epic, 10/1 First Cat, 16/1 Winged, 25/1 Typical Female, 33/1 Book Of Truth, Knockback, Refuse To Tell, 50/1 Federal Reserve.

DIOMED VERDICT: ASTONISHMENT has sound form credentials and the best draw.

Astonishment has Ryan Moore riding for Sylvester Kirk. Strong in market (yes I know 7 hours til the off!) Edgewater is the Johnston horse in this maiden.
A race meriting another look in the market nearer the off 1.27 to place

710 SLIGO
BETTING FORECAST: 1/4 Miss Chaparral, 7/2 La Soie, 25/1 Regina Ballerina, 50/1 Glasson House, 66/1 Gan Airgid Easca.

Weld/Smullen 1/4 fav in a race where only 2 are under 25/1 -even given the fact this is Ireland, ground is soft, this must be an outstanding opportunity - perhaps even a sneaky peak in the win market for trading purposes?
This is a 3 year old middle distance maiden race were the fav has had 4 runs and 2 2nd places recently -2 a near penalty kick" exclaims the Racing Post.
Market no liquid at all so 1.27 win and 1.05 place are available but I suspect are not a true reflection of what prices will be nearer the off

805 KEMPTON
BETTING FORECAST: 100/30 Makaam, 4/1 Expressive, 6/1 Dhaawiah, 8/1 Hay Fever, Whatagoodcatch, 10/1 El Libertador, Fanunalter, Silverglas, 14/1 Ultimate Respect, 16/1 Kimberley Rocks, 25/1 Dayanara, 33/1 Deo Valente, Weekend Away, 50/1 Kings On The Roof.

DIOMED VERDICT: EXPRESSIVE is bred to be a classy performer and she can leave her debut effort behind her.

Expressive now strong 2/1 13/8 favourite for the Moore/Stoute combination -another with just the one run in this maiden 1.53 to place

820 YARMOUTH
BETTING FORECAST: 8/13 Royal Diamond, 4/1 Valvigneres, 13/2 Trachonitis, 17/2 Piper´s Song, 16/1 Royal Premier, 33/1 Best Bidder, Sir Jake.

DIOMED VERDICT: A good opportunity for ROYAL DIAMOND to supplement last week's Sandown gains in a weaker-looking handicap now.

Good win last time out and no market moves from rest of field signal the potential for another place for this fav. 1.23 to place

SHORTLIST
Zenit at 1/7 are very enticing and if sufficient money in the market ,would be worth consideration at home in the Russian cup

Lyn look a great lay at 11.5 against Liverpool

Under 3.5 goals ( and tradeable) in the Dinamo v Celtic match looks outstanding at 1.25

Laying Valencia at 6.2 is reasonable against a Man Utd side which have been consistent and winning pre season.

LAying Seattle ,if possible, against Barcelona at 3.30am looks outstanding

620 YARMOUTH - Enjoyment under Ryan Moore looks strong at 1.18.
630 GOWRAN - monster gamble(?) on Alhakan at 1.47 to place for the excelletn combo Oxx/Kinane
710 SLIGO - THE bet of the day. I would consider the win market here to trade and hope that, as we approach the off, the markets become a little more liquid.

ONE A DAY
From a horse racing perspective, it has to be the 710 Sligo, and Lady Chapparal. Only time will tell how big the place price will be. With this looking a clear 2 horse race, we can back in the win market and trade out at 1.11 perhaps ,or even gamble on 2nd fav La Soie placing 2nd.
At the prices under 3.5 goals in the Dinamo v Celtic game looks outstanding at 1.25 and is emminently tradeable. We need both teams to score 4 between them after the first leg where they only managed one goal , and both have incentives to take a cautious defensive approach (for their own completely different reasons!)
Fancy an even more solid looking proposition? Laying Seattle v Barcelona would seem to be that proposition at 330am. Of course you will have to reasonably taake the odds on offer at the time you place you bet, and these odds are likely to be uncompetitive
