Wed14/09/11UCLAjax 0 - 0Olympique Lyon

Tue27/09/11UCLReal Madrid 3 - 0Ajax

Tue18/10/11UCLDinamo Zagreb 0 - 2Ajax
3 2011 CL fixtures inconclusive although Ajax have failed to score against Lyon and Real Madrid.

Tue19/10/10UCLAjax 2 - 1Auxerre

Tue23/11/10UCLAjax 0 - 4Real Madrid

Wed14/09/11UCLAjax 0 - 0Olympique Lyon
It looks a cautious Ajax at home. 5/6 matches very tight and only beaten by Real Madrid ( naturally expected)

Tue19/07/11UCLNeftçi 0 - 0Dinamo Zagreb

Wed27/07/11UCLHJK 1 - 2Dinamo Zagreb

Tue27/09/11UCLOlympique Lyon 2 - 0Dinamo Zagreb

Tue18/10/11UCLDinamo Zagreb 0 - 2Ajax
Meetings with established sides have all met with defeat without scoring. 0-2 for Ajax away, and Ajax are expected to at least repeat that today.
Tue19/07/11UCLNeftçi 0 - 0Dinamo Zagreb

Wed27/07/11UCLHJK 1 - 2Dinamo Zagreb

Tue23/08/11UCLMalmö FF 2 - 0Dinamo Zagreb

Tue27/09/11UCLOlympique Lyon 2 - 0Dinamo Zagreb
Only scored against HJK.
Is this another chance for a win to nil for Ajax?
This looks like a must win for Ajax - taken from the UEFA website
"Only three points will do for Frank de Boer as AFC Ajax play host to a GNK Dinamo Zagreb side whom they beat 2-0 in Croatia on matchday three. The coach is hoping a win coupled with a Real Madrid CF victory against Olympique Lyonnais will leave the Amsterdam club handily placed to secure second place in Group D."
THis may be a game of late goals. both Ajax goals last time were 2nd half goals.

745pm -
B Munich v Napoli - 1.32 home
"A victory over Napoli in Munich would not only put Bayern, who lead Group A by two points from the Italian side, in command of the section; it also would set them up to seal a last-16 place at home to Villarreal on matchday five"
Also from the UEFA website, a feeling that the 3 man Napoli defense could pose a tactical conundrum for Bayern , who only managed a 1-1.

Tue18/10/11UCLNapoli 1 - 1Bayern München

Sole draw in 23 CL matches came care of a Bayern own goal to make it 1-1 away at NApoli. HInt there that the BAyern defence is still as strong as ever.

Tue27/09/11UCLBayern München 2 - 0Manchester City
No draw in the last 12 home CL matches, as we already know in the league that Bayern are simply not conceding at the moment. Last 4 wins at home were to nil. Losses V Inter Milan twice.
Napoli will seek to keep it tight and the change in tactics might mean Bayern take a while to warm to the task. I feel Bayern's defense will hold up again, and 1-0, 2-0, 3-0 are possibles eventually!
745pm -
Benfica v FC Basel - 1.34 home
I was not the only one, surely , to have been impressed with Benfica at home against Man Utd, and in Basel they face obviously weaker opponents, but a team playing well above themselves.

Wed24/08/11UCLBenfica 3 - 1Twente

Wed14/09/11UCLBenfica 1 - 1Manchester United
The 1-1 v United belied the fact Benfica dominated and attacked at will.
Wed14/09/11UCLBasel 2 - 1Oţelul Galaţi

Tue27/09/11UCLManchester United 3 - 3Basel

Tue18/10/11UCLBasel 0 - 2Benfica
United were 2-0 up at home and Basel amazingly made it 2-3 before a late Ashely Young goal.
THe 0-2 Benfica result latest though is ominous as regards tonight.

Wed08/12/10UCLBayern München 3 - 0Basel

Tue27/09/11UCLManchester United 3 - 3Basel
Basel could be one of those tricky blighters smarting from a 0-2 loss recently and now meeting the same team again so quickly. But I cannot get out of my mind the Benfica performance at home v Man Utd. They really were impressive, and this could be the clincher.

745pm -

Only 1 draw in 23 CL matches could be an angle in. Losses against Bayern, Schalke ( twice) and Trab compound what has been a sorry start to the domestic season.
5 losses and 3 wins in last 8 matches.

No draw in 10 home CL matches and lost the last 3 home matches .No wonder the odds are as they are.
A long list of Inter Milan injuries too , including the possible absence of Wesley Snjeider.

Lille keep things tight.
Tue27/09/11UCLTrabzonspor 1 - 1Lille
Only 1 recent CL away match saw Lille score first and concede to a penalty.
As tough as the odds suggest. Inter look opposable as a knee jerk reaction?

Lyon do have a history at Lyon 1-0 and 1-1. Real's last 4 matches have been under 2.5 goals but they still have not lost. Could this be how this evening's match pans out?

745pm -
Man Utd v Otelul Galati - 1.11 home
2 Rooney penalties, and late on, are what separated the 2 sides in the corresponding fixture.

United have scored 2-2-4-3 in last 4 home matches.1.11 indicates the 3/4 goals possibility, but quite frankly, a 1-0 will suffice.
745pm - Villarreal v Man City - 1.62 away
City imperious domestically but a little naive in the CL?

Sole win against OB at home in 2011 CL Campaign.
Villareal "go into Wednesday's game at El Madrigal without star striker Giuseppe Rossi – out until April with cruciate ligament damage – as well as first–team regulars Cani (knee), Marco Ruben (adductor), Marcos Senna (hamstring) and Nilmar, who has not played since knee surgery in early October."
A 90th minute Aguero winner was enough for City to win corresponding fixture.
Tue23/08/11UCLVillarreal 3 - 0OB

Wed14/09/11UCLVillarreal 0 - 2Bayern München
Villareal have no points in 3 matches so far. Will their desparation and home advantage help towards a positive result?

Mixed bag for City.
Sole away match a 2-0 loss v Bayern
Do Villareal's injuries, particularly to strikers, logically suggest that City are to be first goal scorers if a goal is scored?
