6/10

A losing bet but a successful trade -and that's the key.

Odds Stake(£) Bid type Placed Profit/loss(£)
Over 3.5 Goals 6.20 46.00 Back 05-Oct-09 19:48 239.20
Under 3.5 Goals 1.43 200.00 Back 05-Oct-09 19:07 -200.00
*Average odds: On Off Back subtotal: 39.20
Lay subtotal: 0.00
Market subtotal: 39.20
Commission @ 4.21%: 1.65
Net Market Total: 37.55
You see I backed over 3.5 goals at 6.2 to get my stake back - this was because there was not a strong liquid market here
I had -£200 on over 3.5 goals - my stake, and wanted to get my stake back as it remained 0-0 for 40 minutes.
By backing over 3.5 goals for £46 I created a green screen for over 3.5 goals and under 3.5 goals so I profitted by £37.55 on over 3.5 goals and £38 on under 3.5 goals
The game ended 4-0 so the importance of always ensuring you profit regardless shows itself clearly
A 1.19 equivalent bet I was very happy with.

200 CATTERICK
BETTING FORECAST: 5/2 The Name Is Frank, 11/2 Excitable, 13/2 Towy Boy, 8/1 Strensall, 10/1 Princess Charlmane, 12/1 Monsieur Reynard, 16/1 Alacity, Gower, Red Cell, 20/1 Admiral Bond, Andrasta, Bettys Touch, Molly Two, Tadlil, 25/1 Sandy Par.

DIOMED VERDICT: THE NAME IS FRANK (nap) faces an easier task here than in some of his recent defeats and he will get plenty of help from the saddle.

Fav is now 11/8 - - - 7/1 price gapper but this is an apprentice ridden 15 runner 5 furlong handicap on firm ground. At least the real Frank, Mr SPencer ,is not riding 1.32 to place

220 FOLKSTONE
BETTING FORECAST: 13/8 Cansili Star, 5/2 Govern, 4/1 Old Money, 8/1 Bint Doyen, 10/1 Eclipsed, 20/1 Tuscan King, 25/1 Appeal To Reason.

DIOMED VERDICT: CANSILI STAR can put his experience to good use against rivals that have shown potential.

7 runners and only 3 runners under 20/1. Govern is 10/11 and has only had one run, and Cansili Star, as you can see, is fancied by Diomed - 7 runners means if we were to get involved, we could want the front 2 to both fill the 2 places,
4 debutants again makes our job even harder, so 2 stinker races so far with plenty of questionmarks 1.49 and 1.36 the front 2 to place - relatively big prices indicate that it's 2 places and a maiden.

255 TIPPERARY
BETTING FORECAST: 4/5 Sweeps Hill, 3/1 Financialregulator, 8/1 Sandymount Lady, 10/1 Blindspin, Ragged Staff, 16/1 Hepahepa Naeney, Mr Nobody, 20/1 Jowango, Magic Cloud, Mister Castlefield, 25/1 False Messenger, Insomnitas, Look At Her Go, Marceau, Taking Part, Telefis Eireann, 33/1 Boherna Gold, Good Point, 50/1 Alone Dupre, De Fairy Man,

Whenever JP Magnier takes the ride, you can be sure it is a decent horse - daddy wants his darling son to win! Sweeps Hill had Mr Magnier on board last time. A horse by Montjeu, very well fancied for this maiden hurdle.20 runners mean traffic problems ,and 2nd and 3rd fav have Geraghty and Walsh onboard 1.17 to place - very strongly fancied in the place market this early on

410 LEICESTER
BETTING FORECAST: 2/1 Highland Glen, 9/4 Club Tahiti, 7/2 Classic Vintage, 13/2 Clerk´s Choice, Souter Point.

DIOMED VERDICT: HIGHLAND GLEN (nap) improved to win at Kempton last time and may well have more to come.

2nd and 3rd fav out and Highland Glen remains fav with only 1 to beat to place. Ryan Moore to help - a great probability race 1.1 to NOT getting beaten by 2 horses in a 3 horse race is reasonable enough I suppose

450 FOLK
BETTING FORECAST: 7/4 Squad, 4/1 Evident Pride, 5/1 Sagunt, 8/1 Dove Cottage, Rough Sketch, 10/1 Vinces, 14/1 Good Buy Dubai, 16/1 Madam President, 25/1 Sufad, 33/1 Channel Crossing.

DIOMED VERDICT: SQUAD has been in great form and he's worth another try at this trip.

Price gapper in a class 5 and excellent placed form to date 1.57 to place in a not very liquid market

510 LEICESTER
BETTING FORECAST: 1/6 Euston Square, 7/1 Mydy Easy, 14/1 Cheers Big Ears, 33/1 She´s Pivotal, Spirit Child, 50/1 Amazing Memories, Bawdsey Bank, Montego Breeze, 66/1 Contemplate.

DIOMED VERDICT: EUSTON SQUARE is hard to oppose. Mydy Easy is suggested for the forecast.

LEt the odds do the work!! Big price gapper here and only 3 horses are under 33/1 1.28 to win and 1.05 to place - can we chance the 1.28 win here with trading in mind? - not run since May

FOOTBALL
14:45 Levadia Tallinn vs Trans Narva 1/5
Home team have won 13 at home! Away side have won 10 away from home, and recently spanked a side 10-0. Ratings on Betdevil 2700 for home side and 1443 for away side - huge gulf.
Looks a very poor Estonian league with 2 or 3 teams dominating - doesn't look to be on the Betfair list

15:30 Ghana Youth vs South Africa Yth 4/9
One of the stronger nations at this tournament - 1.52

19:45 Leeds vs Darlington 2/9
Steve Staunton takes over at the weekend for Darlo and he was out of his depth in the IRish job, making a complete "bollocks" of it, as they say over here.
This is a Johnstone's Paints trophy game , THE premier European Cup Competition ..............NOT!
Darlo are a league lower and bottom of that league. They simply do not need or want this meaningless cup. Team news key here for Leeds - a strong team should dispatch of Darlo with ease - 1.27 to win but not in running

SHORTLIST
410 LEICESTER - Highland Glen looks reasonably priced at 1.1 to not be beaten by 2 horses in a 3 horse race and thus place
510 LEICESTER - Euston Square 1.28 to win and 1.05 to place - concern is he has not run since May 2009
Greeceu19 v Faroes U19 - 1.08 to win. This is the Faroes, BUT this is under 19's and they will, of course, be thinking about girls, cars, and hair gel and whether to pop that big zit on their chin
Leeds v Darlo - 1.27 - top and flying in their league versus bottom and stuttering in their lower league. Team news important as I doubt the Johnston's Paint Trophy is top of their respective lists of priorities
Strong Leeds team = steam in, BUT not tradeable ( and we saw a fine example of the advantage that trading can bring -even if a bet loses a trade can ensure profit)
ONE A DAY
I am taken by Leeds tonight IF it's a strong side ( and why not - playing at home and on a roll) so this is a match to approach nearer the kick off as I cannot access team news now - a strong team and the bet is on
410 LEICESTER looks the best bet of the day for me - Ryan Moore on Highland Glen is 1.1 to palce in a market that does not have much cash in it at the moment. Remember Viking dancer - the probability is good but the unexpected can still happen, but as things stand, we have an original fav in a race where 2nd and 3rd favs are out and he only has to finish in the first 2 in a 3 horse race for us to collect - crap odds but take a look at thealternative races we have on the menu today!!
