6/2

I have spoken about it before. A team 3-0 up must always be layed. Why? Well your liability is miniscule, and your upside huge. Ask Liverpool in that Champions League Final! And ask Chelsea yesterday .
The standout match yesterday was Asteras v Doxa which ended 1-0 and it got me thinking that I should highlight standout matches. There was a lot of imponderables amongst the other matches yesterday which made them tricky to trade or get an angle in as confident as the Doxa angle.
5pm - Alki Larnaca v Ermis - 1.24 home - Cypriot League not covered at www.soccerstats.com
6pm - Ankaragucu v Manisaspor - 1.57 away

2011 has seen the away side dominate meetings.
LEAGUE POSITION - 18th v 14th  -can we really trust teams in a bottom 5 clash?Ankar it must be said are way adrift on 11 points after 25 matches.

HOME TEAM - -past fixtures, forthcoming fixtures and likely team - Ankaragucu

RECENT HOME FORM - LLLLLWDDDLL - only 1 win at home. A precious 3 points. That was against 16th. 3 0-0 draws against 3rd, 12th and 15th could be the only real alternative to a defeat. Points have been picked up against 15th and 16th. A sign of an ability to give 14th a game?

RECENT FORM OVERALL - LLDLDLWDLLLLL - 5 match losing streak and no goal scored in 6.Recent win away to Paul Mersin who are 13th ( and remember they are playing 14th today)

GOAL TRENDS - 55% over 2.5 goals at home.Score an average 0.45 goals per match at home and therein lies the obvious problem. Have failed to score in the last 5 at home and last 6 overall. Have conceded in the last 5 making the last 5 matches defeats to nil.

STREAKS - Current losing streak 5 overall. No win in 6 overall.  No win in 5 at home. Have failed to score in 10 of the last 11 matches.

AWAY TEAM - past fixtures -forthcoming fixtures and likely team - Manisaspor

RECENT AWAY FORM - LDWWDDDDLLLL - wins have come against 7th and 17th. Lost 2-1 away to 16th , 0-0's away to 12th and 13th and 1-1 v 15th.

RECENT OVERALL FORM - DLDLLLDLLDLL - no win since 27th November 2011 and you want me to back Manisaspor at 1.57! Right! Yes and you also want to fetch a bucket of steam from where? This is a side in poor form obviously playing away against a side in poorer form. It could be much needed 3 points?

GOAL TRENDS - 42% over 2.5 goals away from home. Average 1 scored and 1.17 conceded away from home.5 of the last 7 matches were over 2.5 goals and Manisaspor have scored and conceded in all of the last 5. On 2 occasions , they scored 2 goals, albeit in defeat, against 7th and 8th. If they can find the onion bag against 7th and 8th, albeit in defeat, one would hope they could replicate that, or at least score one goal against the bottom side today?

STREAKS - 8 away without a win, 12 overall. Have scored and conceded in the last 5 matches overall.

CONCLUSION/NOTES/STANDOUT STATS - so who has faith in a 1.57 away team without a win in 12? Hands up? One at a time please. No crowding! Yeh I thought so. Unappetising! But they play a home team on 11 points from 24 matches, averaging 0.45 goals scored per match at home, and on a 5 match losing streak overall without scoring. BUT at home, they recent had 3 consecutive 0-0 draws.
0-0 an obvious cover bet, and perhaps backable initially to stay in for as long as you dare in the hope of a protracted goalless match. This could be Manisaspor's chance to end their long losing run. 0-0, 0-1, 0-2 perhaps the scorelines which appeal.I would , using Fairbot, have 0-0 as a break even only, and load profit on the 0-1 and 0-2 scorelines.
The problem with laying Manisaspor at an appealing lay man's price, is that Ankara may not score leaving us to hope on the 0-0 as our salvation.
FORM LAB
1st goal: Manisaspor have conceded first in 12/20 away matches and they have lost 9/14 away matches against bottom-six teams. There have been +2.5 goals in 13/20 Ankaragucu home matches.
( How relevant is this really when the home side average 0.45 goals per home match scored?)
TOP 3 INDICATORS
1) - equal goals in both halves v bottom half
2) - ht score 0-0 v Bottom 6
3) - Home 2nd half draw v all

8pm - Granada v Malaga - 2.42 away
HEAD TO HEADS
12.09.2011D1Málaga CF4-0Granada CF
18.08.2010CFGranada CF1-0Málaga CF

One of these 2 are newcomers to the top flight. A comprehensive Malaga win in September not really reflected in the over evens quote away today.
LEAGUE POSITION - 22nd v 8th. A win important for both sides. A win takes Granada out of the bottom 3 and a win takes Malaga 6th in the league.

HOME TEAM - -past fixtures, forthcoming fixtures and likely team - Granada

RECENT HOME FORM - LWDDLDWDWL - Only 2 sides have managed to score 2 goals or more against Granada at home. If they were to lose on this occasion, it may be by a single goal.Barcelona only managed a 0-1 away win at Granada.2 recent wins 1-0 and 2-1 ( one goal a penalty) also recounts possible goal drought. 2 of 3 home defeats were 0-1.

RECENT FORM OVERALL - LLWDWWDLWLLLW - no draw in 6 and 2 wins, both 2-1 v 4th and 15th.

GOAL TRENDS - 30% over 2.5 goals at home. Average 0.8 scored and conceded at home and 0.7 overall. 6 of the last 7 matches over 2.5 goals in stark contrast to the rest of the season down largely to concession rather than scoring.

STREAKS - Have scored and conceded in the last 3 matches. No draw in 6 overall.

AWAY TEAM - past fixtures -forthcoming fixtures and likely team - Malaga

RECENT AWAY FORM - LWDLLDWLLL - wins away for Malaga against 13th and 17th. Have lost 2-1 away to 19th and drawn 0-0 with 20th, so how will they fare against 18th this time?

RECENT OVERALL FORM - LLLWDWWLDLDLLW - only 1 win in last 7 matches was home win against 11th.

GOAL TRENDS - 50/50 overs  - last 3 matches overs - have scored and conceded in last 3 matches overall.Only 2 clean sheets in last 15 matches.

STREAKS - 3 match losing streak away.no draw in 4 away. Have conceded in last 4 away matches.

CONCLUSION/NOTES/STANDOUT STATS - Granada rarely concede 2 at home, in fact only twice this season. And we have a Malaga side who are not in the best of form. Overs/unders are up in the air here. I think Granada can keep this match very tight initially which allows for a 0-0 back to lay trade , and it does point at under 2.5 goals surely? Tough nuts these granades.
FORM LAB
-1.5 goals: There have been -1.5 goals in 6/10 Granada CF home matches and -2.5 goals in 7/10 Granada CF home matches. Malaga have conceded first in 6/10 away matches.

8pm - Liverpool v Tottenham - 2.16 home. Well the post Cup hangover has not yet materialised for the Reds and they are marginal favs here tonight. Again these are matches I am none too keen on. Just look at the Chelsea v United match yesterday - imponderable! Who'd have thunk that Chelsea would be 3-0 up?

16.08.2009PRTottenham2-1Liverpool FC
24.05.2009PRLiverpool FC3-1Tottenham

Spurs have scored 2 goals or more in the last 3 meetings. At home Liverpool's only aberration was the last home meeting.
LEAGUE POSITION - 7th v 3rd. And again for Spurs, the single point for United yesterday offers a slim chance that 3 points will really help a title bid ( they do need City to explode though!)

HOME TEAM - -past fixtures, forthcoming fixtures and likely team - Liverpool

RECENT HOME FORM - DWWDDDDWDWD - undefeated at home  - 3 of the wins have come against bottom 5 sides at home. 5 1-1 draws and 2 0-0 draws. 1-1 draws v 1st and 2nd and a 3-1 win over Newcastle. Against the top 12 at home, it's 6 draws and a sole win against Newcastle.

RECENT FORM OVERALL - WDLWWDDWLDLW -  largely inconsistent. Against the top 3 home and away, it's 2 draws and 2 defeats. 3 wins home and away against 4th, 5th and 6th. And Spurs are bang splat in the middle.

GOAL TRENDS - 27% overs at home, down largely to a number of 1-1's. 0.91 conceded on average overall this season. Strength in defence. Note too that Suarez may still be missing, Carroll is playing like his namesake Carol Vorderman, and Bellamy has been the key goalscorer of late.

STREAKS - 11 at home without defeat.

AWAY TEAM - past fixtures -forthcoming fixtures and likely team - Spurs

RECENT AWAY FORM - LWWDWWWLWDL - defeats away to City and United and Stoke City. Draws against Newcastle and Swansea.

RECENT OVERALL FORM - WWLWDWDWWDLW - last 3 draws have been 1-1 v Swansea, Chelsea and Wolves. Recent defeats have come against Man City and Stoke, both away.

GOAL TRENDS - 73% overs away from home. Talk about chalk and cheese as compared with Liverpool at home. Spurs have only failed to score in one match this season. 2 of the last 9 matches under 2.5 goals. So Spurs have still scored in those matches.

STREAKS - Have scored in last 10 away and last 22 overall.

CONCLUSION/NOTES/STANDOUT STATS - first thing to say is that I don't really like these big team clashes as far as getting an angle in is concerned.
Overs and unders totally incongruent for both sides so that may not be an angle in. Spurs have scored 1-1-1-2-1-1-2-1-2-1 - when they scored 2 twice, they won. They scored 2 away to City and lost 3-2. Spurs therefore need to score 2 to get a chance of winning.
1-1 looks a good scoreline for traders given Liverpool have drawn 6 in 7 matches against top 12.
FORM LAB
1st half outcome: Liverpool have drawn the first half of 5/6 home matches and also in 11/23 of their league fixtures this term. Similarly, Spurs have been level at the break in 6/11 away games this season and in 14/30 of their away games since 2010/11.
TOP 3 INDICATORS
1) - Home 2nd half lose v top 6
2) - Ht Home score 0-1 v top 6
3) - Home 2nd half lose v  top half.
