22/8

Sariska placed and thank God we did place betting with old Frank on board.
Werder won 6-3, Galatasary 5-0 and Everton 3-0 -great night with plenty of opportunities - in fact all of the sub 4/9 shots obliged last night

215 YORK
BETTING FORECAST: 5/2 Forgotten Voice, 3/1 Perfect Stride, 100/30 Russian Sage, 6/1 Spring Of Fame, 8/1 Lord Admiral, 10/1 Palavicini, 20/1 Dream Lodge,

DIOMED VERDICT: Both Forgotten Voice and Perfect Stride are respected but RUSSIAN SAGE is the one to beat if back to his best.

8 down to 7 and a " all red" fav (you'll read about it next newsletter in Forgotten voice - Murtagh has been great generally at this festival when on a fancy 1/4 to place

250 YORK
BETTING FORECAST: 9/4 Confront, 5/2 Huntdown, 7/1 Dream Eater, Secret Society, 14/1 Abbondanza, Balcarce Nov, Battle Paint, 20/1 Court Masterpiece, Royal Confidence, 33/1 Beckermet, Pointing North, Tombi.

DIOMED VERDICT: HUNTDOWN shaped with bags of promise on his first run for the yard at Newmarket and is fancied to beat main market rival Confront, who may be ideally suited by further.

Big field but only 4 under 16/1 hopefully the ones to consider 1.64 and 1.8 the front 2 tells us that this is no gimme

305 CHESTER
BETTING FORECAST: 11/8 Gunner Lindley, 9/2 Dolphin Rock, 5/1 Transfixed, 7/1 Shibhan, 8/1 Professor John, 10/1 Lady Lefroy, 14/1 Leleyf, 25/1 Refuse To Wait, 50/1 Charity Fair, 66/1 Usquaebach.

DIOMED VERDICT: GUNNER LINDLEY will find this easier than the Goodwood nursery in which he was touched off last time.

10/11 and all read across the board 10/11 - - - - - 7/1 in the live market
negative - nursery 1.25 to place and rock solid in the betting

425 SANDOWN
BETTING FORECAST: 1/3 Super Sleuth, 4/1 Flora Trevelyan, 12/1 Parallel, 25/1 Chicora, 33/1 Ela Gorrie Mou, 50/1 Choosy Floosy, Intimar.

DIOMED VERDICT: Backing a maiden at a short price at this stage of the season wouldn't seem the shrewdest policy, but SUPER SLEUTH should just have too much class.

Fav out, 2nd fav now fav here -only one under 12/1 originally - good chance? 1.32 to place

450 KILLARNEY
BETTING FORECAST: 4/9 Banyan Tree, 4/1 Maverick Man, 6/1 Sansibar, 7/1 Zarif, 16/1 Thundern Lightning.

Murtagh makes the trek to Killarney after York - take the hint? 1.07 - illiquid market

500 SANDOWN
BETTING FORECAST: 4/9 Brett Vale, 8/1 Master Fong, Red Suede Shoes, 10/1 Nawaadi, 16/1 Dubai Gem, Marju King.

DIOMED VERDICT: It's hard to find any reason to take on the progressive BRETT VALE under a penalty.

BIG price gapper here, albeit 2 places 1.15 to place

535 KILBEGGAN
BETTING FORECAST: 7/4 Seefin Dancer, 6/1 Strange Encounter, 13/2 Zephyros, 7/1 Flamenco Prince, 8/1 Glen Glass, 10/1 Barrio, Billybhoy, 12/1 A Little Different, Akadyr, Back And Firth, 14/1 Greenhall Wysteria, 20/1 Andrew´s Hill, Fiona Girl, Hot Commodity, Theribtickler, West Ship Master,

Priec gapper here - 1.35 to place
FOOTBALL
19:30 Standard Liege vs Charleroi 1/4
19:30 Nantes vs Istres 4/9
I like Nantes at short prices at home -preference for the lay of the opposition - lay at 7.4 same as back at 1.14
19:45 Bohemians vs Galway 1/5
should oblige readily at home

SHORTLIST
305 CHESTER - Gunner Lindley's price shines out - all read at http://thebettingsite.racingpost.co.uk/ and a HUGE price gap.A class 3 2 year old nursery - Dazzler on board is a good sign
450 KILLARNEY - take the hint eh? Jonny Murtagh is not going to make the trip to Killarney from York for one ride ( albeit in a listed race) to lose now is he? Snsibar is out making this a 4 horse race and 2 places, and 1.07 is superb bearing all this in mind ( could be a good opportunity to back in the win market at 1.35 and attempt to get out at 1.20? Soft ground a slight concern - it has been raining a lot in these parts ( you don't say!!!)
500 SANDOWN
Yes we do set ourselves up for a fall on 2 the place races but Brett Vale is a big price gapper and 1.15 is enticing
730 LAying Istres away to Nantes at 7.4 is the same as a 1.14 bet and should oblige, but the game is not in running

ONE A DAY
Time order I think today. Gunner Lindley looks TOO obvious today with extreme market confidence but I will chance him
You want safe? Well, take the hint on Murtagh making the trip to Killarney for ONE RIDE ONLY this evening after a full book of rides in York - that would be the ultra safe bet albeit at an ultra low price
