25 AUGUST

A frustrating day yesterday for the each way bets - I see the races I chose correctly getting won by outsiders! And they were too " speculative" for me to include - more's the pity - lesson learned here?
I did point out the price gap with Dresden Doll who dotted up - the other horse Alleviate placed as I had hoped - just wasn't confident of victory with this one
EACH WAY BETS
A bumper Saturday as usual
130 BEVERLEY
BETTING FORECAST: 13/8 Tenancy, 7/4 Staked A Claim, 10/1 Fly So Free, 12/1 Violet´s Pride, 14/1 Alto Vertigo, Josama, 16/1 Midnight Sky, 25/1 Monasheemini, Princess Charlmane, Wotavadun, 40/1 Village Storm.

Spotlight's comment -" a bad bad race" - the betting forecast indicates this should involve the first 2 in the betting. I will opt for Fly so free and Midnight Sky each way incase one of the main protagonists in this low grade affair happens to falter

300 BEVERLEY
BETTING FORECAST: 3/1 Borderlescott, 6/1 Hellvelyn, Tawaassol, 13/2 Pivotal´s Princess, 7/1 Tax Free, 8/1 Baltic King, 12/1 The Jobber, 14/1 Fayr Jag, Final Dynasty, Peace Offering, 20/1 Bounty Quest, 25/1 Strike Up The Band, 40/1 Folga, 66/1 Tabaret.

A hint at a price gap but its not significant for me to sit up and take note. With 3/1 the field in a generally good quality race, I'll opt for Tax free and Fayr jag each way

335 BEVERLEY
BETTING FORECAST: 4/1 Record Breaker, 6/1 Gold Hush, 7/1 Cabinet, Monte Alto, 9/1 Warm Embraces, 12/1 Philatelist, Six Of Diamonds, 16/1 Five A Side, Rosbay, 20/1 Dubai Twilight, Manchurian, Muhannak, Players Please, Smart Instinct, 25/1 Habalwatan, 33/1 Teslin, 66/1 Vorteeva.

A likely open race so a chance to back some bigger prices. Philatelist and Six of Diamonds are positioned at 12/1 just before the outsiders

240 CARTMEL
BETTING FORECAST: 3/1 Oh So Brave, 7/2 Perfect Punch, 6/1 Willie The Fish, 13/2 Haile Selassie, Simply St Lucia, 7/1 Little Task, 10/1 Verstone, 11/1 College City, 33/1 Arctic Cove, Court One.

Haille Selassie and Verstone each way - a long distance and 3/1 the field indicates the favs are not nailed on - I've gone for one near the favs with a place chance and one priced to be competitive for the place also

315 CARTMEL
BETTING FORECAST: 9/4 First Cry, 7/2 Santando, 9/2 Browneyes Blue, Rosecliff, 13/2 Somedo Somedont, 17/2 Lilac, 14/1 My Good Lord, 33/1 Cash On Friday, 100/1 Dix Huit Cyborg, Wensleydale Web, 200/1 Kaytash.

A beginners chase there are 7 horses in this 12 runner field priced to be competitive for the place - I'll chance the outsiders of the 7 in Lilac and My Good Lord each way

535 CARTMEL
BETTING FORECAST: 13/8 Salesin, 11/4 Just Stunning, 9/2 Silver Ace, 8/1 Mystified, 9/1 Roman Army, 16/1 Vicki Maher, 33/1 Felix Mac, Master Bury, 50/1 Little Girl, The Jolly Trolley.

6 priced before 33/1 - it's a maiden hurdle so I can take a chance in Silver Ace and Mystified each way

235 GOODWOOD
BETTING FORECAST: 4/7 Sense Of Joy, 5/1 Mistress Greeley, 8/1 Rosaleen, 10/1 Dusty Moon, 12/1 Celtic Slipper, 25/1 Eva´s Request, 66/1 Fly Kiss,

Rosallen each way

400 NEWMARKET
BETTING FORECAST: 7/2 King Charles, 5/1 Night Cru, 7/1 Prize Fighter, Weightless, 8/1 Press The Button, Zaif, 12/1 Apply Dapply, Archiestown, Fortunate Isle, 14/1 Tommy Toogood, 20/1 Flor Y Nata, 25/1 Dragon Slayer, 33/1 Kew Green.

Sufficiently competitive Press the Button and Tommy toogood each way

600 REDCAR
BETTING FORECAST: 11/8 Craggy Cat, 2/1 Accused, 13/2 Bonny Rose, 7/1 Pintano, 16/1 Misplaced Fortune, When Yer Ready, 25/1 Island Music, Ivestar, 50/1 Kyzer Chief, Moon Spray, Red Skipper, 66/1 Novestar, Tommytush,

Plenty of newcomers so I can chance Misplaced fortune and When Yer Ready each way

SINGLE BETS

A good day yesterday highlighting one winner and one place
200 BEVERLEY
BETTING FORECAST: 13/8 Badalona, 7/1 Coachhouse Lady, Free Fallin, 8/1 Armure, Threestoneburn, 10/1 Jadaara, 14/1 Neve Lieve, 20/1 Fernlawn Hope, Khibraat, Lanterns Of Gold, Starfala, 33/1 Kalanda Kurl, 100/1 Cottam Breeze .

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: Michael Jarvis, Michael Bell, Jamie Osborne (one from two) and Mark Johnston have a better than 25% strike-rate with their 2yos here. Several with possibilities but the Bell-trained BADALONA, having finished second in stronger-looking races at Newmarket and Goodwood, has good prospects of opening her account. Armure may give her most to do.[FC]

A quite noticeable price gap here - it must be noted this is a maiden race

155 CURRAGH
BETTING FORECAST: 7/4 Majority, 5/1 Hanoverian Baron, Maidin Moch, 11/2 Mutqan, 6/1 Longing To Dance, 7/1 Cihangir, 8/1 Dragon Lady, 10/1 Grand Cru, The Hustler, 12/1 Beatrix Potter, Capall An Ibre, Porto Santana, 14/1 Modern Myth, 16/1 Little Annie, Moura Praia, Perfect Polly, Princess Rose Anne, 20/1 A Rose In The Sun, Dynamo Dan, Mountain Flower, Sovine, 25/1 Gracious Girl, He´s Got Rhythm, Rock Of Rochelle, 33/1 Elusive Beau, Last Emperor, The Hamptons.

A significant price gap for the field size until we find out the horse is priced based on trainer/jockey combo and hasnt even had a run out -one for the brave

205 GOODWOOD
BETTING FORECAST: 7/4 Ivy Creek, 5/1 Samuel, 6/1 Tungsten Strike, 13/2 Big Robert, 15/2 Hard Top, 8/1 Rayhani, 11/1 Land ´n Stars, Souvenance, 20/1 Secret Tune .

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: The key horse is IVY CREEK, who will be tough to beat if back at the same level as when winning a couple of Listed races this season, given he's shaped as if this trip should be well within his range. His Danehill half-brother Distinction has been one of the best stayers around over the last few seasons. Big Robert may be next best. [MCu]

Good price gap here and the tough to beat tag with an "if" . Looks good for a place only bet here

235 GOODWOOD
BETTING FORECAST: 4/7 Sense Of Joy, 5/1 Mistress Greeley, 8/1 Rosaleen, 10/1 Dusty Moon, 12/1 Celtic Slipper, 25/1 Eva´s Request, 66/1 Fly Kiss ,

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: Listed and Group race form is notable by its absence but promise aplenty, notably in the shape of SENSE OF JOY, who made a deep impression on her debut. Dusty Moon and Mistress Greeley, likewise, are unbeaten but Rosaleen achieved more when winning at Thirsk and could prove second best.[FC]

Again another noticeable price gap with Sense of Joy - Spotlight metions the horse was very impressive last time out and has a bright future

310 GOODWOOD

BETTING FORECAST: 11/8 Cesare, 5/1 Dunelight, 6/1 Blue Ksar, Echelon, 8/1 Blythe Knight, 12/1 Finicius, 14/1 Selinka, 33/1 Charlie Cool .

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: CESARE (nap) looks a notch above this opposition and ought to be tough to beat, having put up a career-best when overcoming difficulties in running in an Ascot Group 2 last time. Jamie Spencer, in superb form at York this week, will be alive to the danger of allowing front-running Dunelight too much rope up front and Cesare can be expected to peg back the 4yo late on for a third win in four runs this season. [MCu]

I wouldn't be put off by the fact there are 3 price gappers in a row at one meeting.
Cesare has a superb strike rate for Jamie SPencer

325 NEWMARKET
BETTING FORECAST: 5/4 Balthazaar´s Gift, 5/1 Firenze, Presto Shinko, 8/1 Rising Shadow, 10/1 Fonthill Road, Shmookh, 14/1 Conquest, 20/1 Biniou, 25/1 Beckermet .

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: The tempo of this race may well be very different to that in which BALTHAZAAR'S GIFT has been thriving of late, but with his yard in such good form he is hard to overlook and most of his rivals have questions to answer too.[AC]

"Hard to overlook" but there is a niggle re the race tactics affecting the horse?

435 NEWMARKET
BETTING FORECAST: 11/8 Abydos, 5/1 Know The Law, 6/1 Zero Cool, 8/1 Hope Road, 12/1 Bankable, 14/1 Moral Code, Perfect Cause, Waymark, 16/1 Give Me A Break, 20/1 Ezdiyaad, La Lunete, 50/1 Viva Vettori, 66/1 Ardmaddy, Kaateb, King Zeal, Sierra Rose .

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: Much slower ground than ABYDOS encountered when a promising third on his debut at Windsor last week when followed home by Know The Law and Waymark but he looks sure to have more to offer and is the one to beat as long as he handles it.[AC]

"As long as he handles it" - too much of a question mark here for me to entertain a bet ( so watch him romp home now!)

515 WINDSOR
BETTING FORECAST: Evs Meydan Dubai, 4/1 Rash Judgement, 7/1 Legendary Guest, Luscious Lips, Supermassive Muse, 25/1 Elizabeth´s Quest, 50/1 Border Defence, Moss Way, 66/1 Honest Value .

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: MEYDAN DUBAI's Carlisle third was given a boost by the winner going close in the Hornblower at Ripon last weekend and he sets the standard.[GW]

Probably a place only bet for me with the ground good to soft

As you can expect the usual wealth of racing. Realistically I cannot expect all of the above to win and place. One can hope.
One I would select would be Sense of Joy to win today - I hope I'm right - this kind of selection strategy, as you've seen, has bagged some decent winners of late

FOOTY

Another tough day in the premiership and immediately I think Sunderland are worth laying against one of the big boys.
I will oppose Derby today against Birmingham team who ,quite frankly, have been playing against the ref in their last couple of matches - shocking decisions have stopped them getting what they deserved in recent games

What chance Man Utd finally ending that sequence without a win? The pressure is certainly mounting for Sir Hairdryer.
I think Rangers to win to nil could be a good bet today , and from a trading perspective, I see the Chelsea Portsmouth game as being a tight affair early on, and a possible under 2.5 goal trade early doors, or a lay of Chelsea to back them if it remains 0-0 deep into the first half
I'll be laying Getafe against Sevilla this evening ,hoping the game is in running and Sevilla score first
Juve return to Seria A today at home to Livorno and this could be an under 2.5 goal trade early on for me if the match is in running
