2 MARCH

Thanks must go to Aberdeen for scoring first, thus helping considerably the over 3.5 goals bet for free scoring Rangers. Celtic won and Samararse won - looks like this lower level suits him so I shall now remove the "arse" from his surname as he ensured me victory today at a tasty price (for an Old Firm side ) - if Celtic can keep McGeady fit , they are certainly in with a shout
Elsewhere the lay of the Arse was great thanks to a Senderos own goal. Nice short price lay. The lay of Brum though went tits up ( using a proper staking plan of course legislates for losers) - unders came in the Bayern match.
Another successful lay of Newcastle at nice short odds.
In te Man Utd game, I didn't back Rooney or Ronny to score as they didnt start the game. Half time full time came in no sweat, and funnily enough United replicated Arsenal's 3-0 win - it's always looking at similarly positioned teams who have faced current opposition recently.
Real MAdrid ended their losing sequence again at a huge price (relative to the team's usual prices) - overs also came in .

Horses were less spectacular - good to take on Schinken Otto as Ela Re won.Working title won for a break even bet.
Aux le Bahhn placed as expected but returned stakes at least.
Time Electric didn't live up to his billing and I lost some stake there in running.

3 into 1 bets are becoming an embarrassment for me after all the trumpet blowing - fecking horses - 2 winners at stupidly short prices .

BANGOR-ON-DEE
200
BETTING FORECAST: 11/8 Tamimi´s History, 9/4 First Buddy, 6/1 Seeking The Buck, 10/1 Hernando Cortes, 14/1 Wildhuter, 20/1 Cat Six, Marju´s Gold, Vanquisher, 33/1 Starstruck Peter, 50/1 Ishismart, Linlithgow, Watch Out, 100/1 Bret Maverick, Isaac Newton .

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: Tamimi's History is highly respected but this looks good for FIRST BUDDY, who made a perfectly satisfactory start over hurdles at Musselburgh and is capable of improving on that form provided the rain stays away. Hernando Cortes is a dark one
£10 level stakes on the 3 principals interests me here with very small losses on TAmimi's and First Buddy and a nice big profit on Seeking the Buck - you nev er know - it is a juvenile maiden hurdle

HUNTINGDON

BETTING FORECAST: 6/4 Summer Of Love, 9/4 Shavansky, 4/1 Toccata, 8/1 Etoile D´Or, 16/1 Kassuta, 25/1 Pleasurable, 33/1 Eddystone, 50/1 Beau Bramble, Katie Kingfisher, 66/1 Bali Belony .

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: Only a few to consider, including a couple of potential front-runners in Etoile D'Or and Toccata. Summer Of Love sets the standard on a mark of 115 but she needs to bounce back from a flat effort and SHAVANSKY is given the nod back on a sounder surface.

5 horses at 25/1 and over A chance is taken on the front 2 - again for me level stakes leaves bigger profit on Shavansky

BETTING FORECAST: Evs Adopted Hero, 7/2 Colliers Court, Salinas, 6/1 Polished .

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: Adopted Hero is capable of winning this in second gear if everything clicks but he's had more disappointments than good efforts in headgear (one placed effort from seven) and there will be safer conveyances at short prices in the coming weeks. COLLIERS COURT, who's most effective when able to dictate in a small field over an easy 2m, looks the best alternative.

Only 3 runners survive - a probability race. In tight races such as this the fav is worth laying I think to monitor in running . Such a short field should ensure that the horses remaining close together ensuring Adopted Hero won't have it his own way.

BETTING FORECAST: 5/2 The Grey Berry, 4/1 Zirkel, 7/1 Moon Mix, 8/1 Caliban, Cortinas, 10/1 Red Wine, 14/1 Dark Parade, 16/1 Royal Wedding, Sualda, 20/1 Speedy Directa, 33/1 Flaming Cheek, Magic Rush, Widely Accepted, 50/1 Cottam Grange, 66/1 Laconicos .

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: If THE GREY BERRY is to have any chance in the Triumph Hurdle he'll want to be winning this well off 110, but he did have excuses here last time and was very progressive on the Flat last year.

TAke a chance on the Grey Berry - as SPotlight says this is a must win really, and you saw yesterday with those who MUST win, ususally get close

MARKET RASEN

BETTING FORECAST: Evs Ellerslie Ali, 6/5 Gee Dee, 14/1 Solar Rock, 25/1 Dad´s Army, Heathcliff, 33/1 Captain Timeless, Smoke It, 100/1 Gagarin .

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: This is between ELLERSLIE ALI and Gee Dee, with slight preference for the former, who shaped well on her hurdle debut and is open to plenty of improvement. [RY]

You can back the front 2 to level stakes and eek out an unspectacular profit. Perhaps the reverse forecast may offer a bigger return

340
BETTING FORECAST: 9/4 Fortunate Isle, 5/2 Cripsey Brook, Nelsons Column, 10/1 Indian Pipe Dream, 12/1 Jamestown Bay, 14/1 Apache Fort, Instant Shot, 20/1 Feeling Peckish, 40/1 Treefella, 66/1 Able Dara, Lyon´s Hill, 200/1 Rhine Rewler, Strong Approach .

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: Much more like it from Nelsons Column last time and both he and Cripsey Brook are possibilities, but it could be that wearing cheekpieces for the first time over hurdles will enable FORTUNATE ISLE to cure his bout of seconditis

Cripsey BRook at 9/2 currently represents the value each way in what looks a 3 horse race

3 INTO 1 SYSTEM
Typically difficult Saturday always favours the layers
Another poor show from the selections which makes it difficult for outsiders to believe why I was so bullish about the system which is turning into a killer laying system!
250 HUNTINGDON - INGHWUNG - not worth backing at all at a very silly price
450 HUNTINGDON - COMMEMORATION DAY
210 MARKET RASEN - ELLERSLIE ALI - this is a 2 horse race so we have a 50\50 chance of success - preference would be for a price gapper here

FOOTY
Where I made most of my cash yesterday bar the Spuds hangover

Liverpool are not really a betting medium for me - I can't read with confidence how they will perform. They are Jekyll and Hyde against Bolton - at home they scored 7 to no reply -at Bolton they lost and drew.

A no bet game for me - it could be unders, but then again Liverpool's front line might go ballistic - I just can't tell!

A dutch mug punter treble on Ajax, Feyenoord and Groningen might pay off today - all at home, all need wins and all priced to win
Quiet day for me today football wise
